1 Then the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah, and made him king in his father's stead in Jerusalem.	1 Le peuple du pays prit donc Joachaz, fils de Josias, et l'établit roi à la place de son père dans Jérusalem.
2 Jehoahaz was twenty and three years old when he began to reign, and he reigned three months in Jerusalem.	2 Joachaz avait vingt-trois ans quand il commença à régner, et il régna trois mois à Jérusalem.
3 And the king of Egypt put him down at Jerusalem, and condemned the land in an hundred talents of silver and a talent of gold.	3 Mais le roi d'Egypte, étant venu à Jérusalem, le déposa, et condamna le pays à payer cent talents d'argent et un talent d'or.
4 And the king of Egypt made Eliakim his brother king over Judah and Jerusalem, and turned his name to Jehoiakim. And Necho took Jehoahaz his brother, and carried him to Egypt.	4 Et il établit Eliakim, son frère, roi à sa place sur Juda et sur Jérusalem, et l'appela Joakim. Et après s'être saisi de Joachaz, il l'emmena en Egypte avec lui.
5 Jehoiakim was twenty and five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem: and he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD his God.	5 Joakim avait vingt-cinq ans quand il commença à régner, et il régna onze ans à Jérusalem; et il fit le mal devant le Seigneur son Dieu.
6 Against him came up Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and bound him in fetters, to carry him to Babylon.	6 Nabuchodonosor, roi des Chaldéens, marcha contre lui, et, l'ayant chargé de chaînes, il l'emmena à Babylone,
7 Nebuchadnezzar also carried of the vessels of the house of the LORD to Babylon, and put them in his temple at Babylon.	7 où il transporta aussi les vases du Seigneur, et les mit dans son temple.
8 Now the rest of the acts of Jehoiakim, and his abominations which he did, and that which was found in him, behold, they are written in the book of the kings of Israel and Judah: and Jehoiachin his son reigned in his stead.	8 Le reste des actions de Joakim, et des abominations qu'il commit et qui se trouvèrent en lui, est contenu dans le livre des rois de Juda et d'Israël. Et son fils Joachin régna à sa place.
9 Jehoiachin was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned three months and ten days in Jerusalem: and he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD.	9 Joachin avait huit ans quand il commença à régner, et il régna trois mois et dix jours à Jérusalem; et il commit le mal en présence du Seigneur.
10 And when the year was expired, king Nebuchadnezzar sent, and brought him to Babylon, with the goodly vessels of the house of the LORD, and made Zedekiah his brother king over Judah and Jerusalem.	10 Et l'année suivante, le roi Nabuchodonosor envoya des troupes qui l'emmenèrent à Babylone, et emportèrent aussi les vases les plus précieux de la maison du Seigneur. Et il établit roi à sa place, sur Juda et Jérusalem, son oncle Sédécias.
11 Zedekiah was one and twenty years old when he began to reign, and reigned eleven years in Jerusalem.	11 Sédécias avait vingt et un ans quand il commença à régner, et il régna onze ans à Jérusalem.
12 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the LORD his God, and humbled not himself before Jeremiah the prophet speaking from the mouth of the LORD.	12 Il fit le mal en présence du Seigneur son Dieu, et il ne rougit pas devant le prophète Jérémie, qui lui parlait de la part du Seigneur.
13 And he also rebelled against king Nebuchadnezzar, who had made him swear by God: but he stiffened his neck, and hardened his heart from turning unto the LORD God of Israel.	13 Il se révolta aussi contre le roi Nabuchodonosor, à qui il avait juré fidélité au nom de Dieu. Il endurcit donc sa tête et son coeur pour ne plus retourner au Seigneur Dieu d'Israël.
14 Moreover all the chief of the priests, and the people, transgressed very much after all the abominations of the heathen; and polluted the house of the LORD which he had hallowed in Jerusalem.	14 Bien plus, tous les princes des prêtres et le peuple s'abandonnèrent à toutes les abominations des Gentils, et profanèrent la maison du Seigneur, qu'Il S'était sanctifiée à Jérusalem.
15 And the LORD God of their fathers sent to them by his messengers, rising up betimes, and sending; because he had compassion on his people, and on his dwelling place:	15 Or le Seigneur, le Dieu de leurs pères, leur adressait souvent Sa parole par Ses envoyés; et Il ne cessait de leur donner nuit et jour des avertissements, parce qu'Il avait pitié de Son peuple et de Sa maison.
16 But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, till there was no remedy.	16 Mais ils se moquaient des envoyés de Dieu, méprisaient Ses paroles et se raillaient de Ses prophètes, jusqu'à ce que la fureur du Seigneur s'élevât contre Son peuple, et que le mal fût sans remède.
17 Therefore he brought upon them the king of the Chaldees, who slew their young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary, and had no compassion upon young man or maiden, old man, or him that stooped for age: he gave them all into his hand.	17 Car Il fit venir contre eux le roi des Chaldéens, qui égorgea leurs enfants dans la maison de Son sanctuaire, sans avoir pitié ni des jeunes gens, ni des jeunes filles, ni des vieillards, ni même de ceux qui étaient dans la dernière vieillesse. Dieu les livra tous entre ses mains,
18 And all the vessels of the house of God, great and small, and the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king, and of his princes; all these he brought to Babylon.	18 comme aussi tous les vases du temple, grands et petits, tous les trésors de la maison de Dieu, et de celle du roi et des princes, qu'il fit emporter à Babylone.
19 And they burnt the house of God, and brake down the wall of Jerusalem, and burnt all the palaces thereof with fire, and destroyed all the goodly vessels thereof.	19 Les ennemis brûlèrent ensuite la maison du Seigneur, et ruinèrent les murs de Jérusalem; ils mirent le feu à toutes les tours, et détruisirent tout ce qu'il y avait de précieux.
20 And them that had escaped from the sword carried he away to Babylon; where they were servants to him and his sons until the reign of the kingdom of Persia:	20 Si quelqu'un avait échappé au glaive, il était emmené à Babylone, pour être esclave du roi et de ses fils, jusqu'à ce que le roi de Perse montât sur le trône,
21 To fulfil the word of the LORD by the mouth of Jeremiah, until the land had enjoyed her sabbaths: for as long as she lay desolate she kept sabbath, to fulfil threescore and ten years.	21 et que s'accomplit la parole du Seigneur, prononcée par la bouche de Jérémie, et que la terre célébrât ses jours de sabbat; car elle se reposa durant tous les jours de la désolation, jusqu'à ce que les soixante-dix ans fussent accomplis.
22 Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the LORD spoken by the mouth of Jeremiah might be accomplished, the LORD stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and put it also in writing, saying,	22 Mais dans la première année de Cyrus, roi des Perses, le Seigneur, pour accomplir la parole qu'Il avait dite par la bouche du prophète Jérémie, toucha le coeur de Cyrus, roi des Perses, qui fit faire de vive voix et par écrit cette proclamation dans tout son royaume:
23 Thus saith Cyrus king of Persia, All the kingdoms of the earth hath the LORD God of heaven given me; and he hath charged me to build him an house in Jerusalem, which is in Judah. Who is there among you of all his people? The LORD his God be with him, and let him go up.	23 Voici ce que dit Cyrus, roi des Perses : Le Seigneur, le Dieu du ciel, m'a donné tous les royaumes de la terre, et Il m'a Lui-même ordonné de Lui bâtir une maison à Jérusalem, qui est dans la Judée. Qui d'entre vous fait partie de Son peuple? Que le Seigneur son Dieu soit avec lui, et qu'il monte!
