1 Εν τω δωδεκατω ετει του Αχαζ βασιλεως του Ιουδα, εβασιλευσεν Ωσηε ο υιος του Ηλα εν Σαμαρεια επι τον Ισραηλ, εννεα ετη.	1 In the twelfth year of Ahaz, the king of Judah: Hoshea, the son of Elah, reigned over Israel, in Samaria, for nine years.
2 Και επραξε πονηρα ενωπιον του Κυριου, πλην ουχι ως οι βασιλεις του Ισραηλ οιτινες ησαν προ αυτου.	2 And he did evil before the Lord, but not like the kings of Israel who had been before him.
3 Επ' αυτον ανεβη Σαλμανασαρ ο βασιλευς της Ασσυριας? και εγεινεν Ωσηε δουλος αυτου και εδιδεν εις αυτον φορον.	3 Shalmaneser, the king of the Assyrians, ascended against him. And Hoshea became a servant to him, and he paid him tribute.
4 Ευρηκε δε ο βασιλευς της Ασσυριας συνωμοσιαν εν τω Ωσηε? διοτι απεστειλε μηνυτας προς τον Σω, βασιλεα της Αιγυπτου, και δεν εδωκε φορον εις τον βασιλεα της Ασσυριας, ως εκαμνε κατ' ετος? οθεν συνεκλεισεν αυτον ο βασιλευς της Ασσυριας και εδεσεν αυτον εν φυλακη.	4 And when the king of the Assyrians discovered that Hoshea, striving to rebel, had sent messengers to Sais, to the king of Egypt, so as not to present the tribute to the king of the Assyrians, as he had been accustomed to do each year, he besieged him. And having been bound, he cast him into prison.
5 Και ανεβη ο βασιλευς της Ασσυριας δια πασης της γης? και ανεβη εις την Σαμαρειαν και επολιορκησεν αυτην τρια ετη.	5 And he wandered through the entire land. And ascending to Samaria, he besieged it for three years.
6 Εν τω εννατω ετει του Ωσηε, ο βασιλευς της Ασσυριας εκυριευσε την Σαμαρειαν και μετωκισε τον Ισραηλ εις την Ασσυριαν, και κατωκισεν αυτους εν Αλα και εν Αβωρ, παρα τον ποταμον Γωζαν, και εν ταις πολεσι των Μηδων.	6 And in the ninth year of Hoshea, the king of the Assyrians captured Samaria, and he carried away Israel to Assyria. And he stationed them in Halah and in Habor, beside the river of Gozan, in the cities of the Medes.
7 Εγεινε δε τουτο, διοτι οι υιοι του Ισραηλ ημαρτησαν εις Κυριον τον Θεον αυτων, οστις ανηγαγεν αυτους εκ γης Αιγυπτου, υποκατωθεν της χειρος του Φαραω βασιλεως της Αιγυπτου, και εσεβασβησαν αλλους θεους,	7 For it happened that, when the sons of Israel had sinned against the Lord, their God, who had led them away from the land of Egypt, from the hand of Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, they worshipped strange gods.
8 και περιεπατησαν εις τα νομιμα των εθνων, τα οποια εξεδιωξεν ο Κυριος απεμπροσθεν των υιων Ισραηλ, και τα των βασιλεων του Ισραηλ, τα οποια εθεσπισαν.	8 And they walked according to the rituals of the nations that the Lord had consumed in the sight of the sons of Israel, and of the kings of Israel. For they had acted similarly.
9 Και επραττον οι υιοι του Ισραηλ κρυφιως πραγματα, τα οποια δεν ησαν ευθεα ενωπιον Κυριου του Θεου αυτων, και ωκοδομησαν εις εαυτους υψηλους τοπους εν πασαις ταις πολεσιν αυτων, απο πυργου φυλακων εως οχυρας πολεως.	9 And the sons of Israel offended the Lord, their God, with deeds that were not upright. And they built for themselves high places in all their cities, from the tower of the watchmen to the fortified city.
10 Και ανηγειραν εις εαυτους αγαλματα και αλση επι παντα υψηλον λοφον και υποκατω παντος δενδρου πρασινου.	10 And they made for themselves statues and sacred groves, on every high hill and under every leafy tree.
11 Και εκει εθυμιαζον επι παντας τους υψηλους τοπους, καθως τα εθνη τα οποια ο Κυριος εξεδιωξεν απεμπροσθεν αυτων? και επραττον πονηρα πραγματα δια να παροργιζωσι τον Κυριον?	11 And they were burning incense there, upon altars, in the manner of the nations that the Lord had removed from their face. And they did wicked deeds, provoking the Lord.
12 και ελατρευσαν τα ειδωλα, περι των οποιων ο Κυριος ειπε προς αυτους, Δεν θελετε καμει το πραγμα τουτο.	12 And they worshipped impurities, concerning which the Lord instructed them that they should not do this word.
13 Και διεμαρτυρηθη ο Κυριος κατα του Ισραηλ και κατα του Ιουδα, δια χειρος παντων των προφητων, παντων των βλεποντων, λεγων, Επιστρεψατε απο των οδων υμων των πονηρων και φυλαττετε τας εντολας μου, τα διαταγματα μου, κατα παντα τον νομον τον οποιον προσεταξα εις τους πατερας σας και τον οποιον απεστειλα εις εσας δια μεσου των δουλων μου των προφητων.	13 And the Lord testified to them, in Israel and in Judah, through the hand of all the prophets and seers, saying: “Return from your wicked ways, and keep my precepts and ceremonies, in accord with the entire law, which I instructed to your fathers, and just as I sent to you by the hand of my servants, the prophets.”
14 Πλην αυτοι δεν υπηκουσαν, αλλ' εσκληρυναν τον τραχηλον αυτων, ως τον τραχηλον των πατερων αυτων, οιτινες δεν επιστευσαν εις Κυριον τον Θεον αυτων.	14 But they did not listen. Instead, they hardened their necks to be like the neck of their fathers, who were not willing to obey the Lord, their God.
15 Και απερριψαν τα διαταγματα αυτου και την διαθηκην αυτου, την οποιαν εκαμε μετα των πατερων αυτων, και τας διαμαρτυρησεις αυτου, τας οποιας διεμαρτυρηθη εναντιον αυτων? και υπηγαν οπισω της ματαιοτητος, και εματαιωθησαν, και οπισω των εθνων των περιξ αυτων, περι των οποιων ο Κυριος προσεταξεν αυτους, να μη πραξωσιν ως εκεινα.	15 And they cast aside his ordinances, and the covenant that he formed with their fathers, and the testimonies which he testified to them. And they pursued vanities and acted vainly. And they followed the nations that were all around them, concerning the things which the Lord had commanded them not to do, and which they did.
16 Και εγκατελιπον πασας ταις εντολας Κυριου του Θεου αυτων, και εκαμον εις εαυτους χωνευτα, δυο μοσχους, και εκαμον αλση και προσεκυνησαν πασαν την στρατιαν του ουρανου και ελατρευσαν τον Βααλ.	16 And they abandoned all the precepts of the Lord, their God. And they made for themselves two molten calves and sacred groves. And they adored the entire celestial army. And they served Baal.
17 Και διεβιβαζον τους υιους αυτων και τας θυγατερας αυτων δια του πυρος, και μετεχειριζοντο μαντειας και οιωνισμους, και επωλησαν εαυτους εις το να πραττωσι πονηρα ενωπιον του Κυριου, δια να παροργιζωσιν αυτον.	17 And they consecrated their sons and their daughters through fire. And they devoted themselves to divinations and soothsaying. And they delivered themselves into the doing of evil before the Lord, so that they provoked him.
18 Δια ταυτα ο Κυριος ωργισθη σφοδρα κατα του Ισραηλ και απεβαλεν αυτους απο προσωπου αυτου? δεν εναπελειφθη, παρα μονη η φυλη του Ιουδα.	18 And the Lord became vehemently angry with Israel, and he took them away from his sight. And there remained no one, except the tribe of Judah alone.
19 Και ο Ιουδας ετι δεν εφυλαξε τας εντολας Κυριου του Θεου αυτου, αλλα περιεπατησαν εις τα διαταγματα του Ισραηλ, τα οποια εκαμον.	19 But even Judah did not keep the commandments of the Lord, their God. Instead, they walked in the errors of Israel, which they had wrought.
20 Και απεβαλεν ο Κυριος παν το σπερμα του Ισραηλ και κατεθλιψεν αυτους, και παρεδωκεν αυτους εις την χειρα των διαρπαζοντων, εωσου απερριψεν αυτους απο προσωπου αυτου.	20 And the Lord cast aside all of the offspring of Israel. And he afflicted them, and he delivered them into the hand of despoilers, until he drove them away from his face,
21 Διοτι απεσχισθη ο Ισραηλ απο του οικου Δαβιδ, και εκαμον βασιλεα τον Ιεροβοαμ υιον του Ναβατ? και ο Ιεροβοαμ απεσπασε τον Ισραηλ εξοπισθεν του Κυριου, και εκαμεν αυτους να αμαρτησωσιν αμαρτιαν μεγαλην.	21 even from that time when Israel was torn away from the house of David, and they appointed for themselves Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, as king. For Jeroboam separated Israel from the Lord, and he caused them to sin a great sin.
22 Διοτι οι υιοι Ισραηλ περιεπατησαν εν πασαις ταις αμαρτιαις του Ιεροβοαμ, τας οποιας επραξε? δεν απεμακρυνθησαν απ' αυτων,	22 And the sons of Israel walked in all the sins of Jeroboam, which he had done. And they did not withdraw from these,
23 εωσου ο Κυριος απεβαλε τον Ισραηλ απο προσωπου αυτου, καθως ελαλησε δια χειρος παντων των δουλων αυτου των προφητων. Και μετωκισθη ο Ισραηλ απο της γης αυτου εις την Ασσυριαν, εως της ημερας ταυτης.	23 even when the Lord carried away Israel from his face, just as he had said by the hand of all his servants, the prophets. And Israel was carried away from their land into Assyria, even to this day.
24 Και εφερεν ο βασιλευς της Ασσυριας ανθρωπους εκ Βαβυλωνος και απο Χουθα και απο Αυα και απο Αιμαθ και απο Σεφαρουιμ, και κατωκισεν εν ταις πολεσι της Σαμαρειας αντι των υιων Ισραηλ, και εκληρονομησαν την Σαμαρειαν και κατωκησαν εν ταις πολεσιν αυτης.	24 Then the king of the Assyrians brought some from Babylon, and from Cuthah, and from Avva, and from Hamath, and from Sepharvaim. And he located them in the cities of Samaria, in place of the sons of Israel. And they possessed Samaria, and they lived in its cities.
25 Και εν τη αρχη της εκει κατοικησεως αυτων, δεν εφοβηθησαν τον Κυριον? και απεστειλεν ο Κυριος τους λεοντας μεταξυ αυτων, και εθανατονον εξ αυτων.	25 And when they had begun to live there, they did not fear the Lord. And the Lord sent lions among them, which were killing them.
26 Και ειπον προς τον βασιλεα της Ασσυριας, λεγοντες, Τα εθνη, τα οποια μετωκισας και εκαθισας εν ταις πολεσι της Σαμαρειας, δεν γνωριζουσι τον νομον του Θεου της γης? δια τουτο απεστειλε τους λεοντας μεταξυ αυτων, και ιδου, θανατονουσιν αυτους, επειδη δεν γνωριζουσι τον νομον του Θεου της γης.	26 And this was reported to the king of the Assyrians, and it was said: “The peoples that you transferred and caused to live in the cities of Samaria, they are ignorant of the ordinances of the God of the land. And so the Lord has sent lions among them. And behold, they have killed them, because they were ignorant of the rituals of the God of the land.”
27 Τοτε ο βασιλευς της Ασσυριας προσεταξε, λεγων, Φερετε εκει ενα των ιερεων, τους οποιους μετωκισατε εκειθεν? και ας υπαγωσι και ας κατοικησωσιν εκει? και ας διδαξη αυτους τον νομον του Θεου της γης.	27 Then the king of the Assyrians commanded, saying: “Lead to that place one of the priests, whom you brought as a captive from there. And let him go and live with them. And let him teach them the ordinances of the God of the land.”
28 Και εις των ιερεων, τους οποιους μετωκισαν εκ της Σαμαρειας, ηλθε και κατωκησεν εν Βαιθηλ, και εδιδασκεν αυτους πως να φοβωνται τον Κυριον.	28 And so, when one of the priests, who had been led away captive from Samaria, had arrived, he lived in Bethel. And he taught them how they should worship the Lord.
29 Εκαστον ομως εθνος εκαμον θεους εις εαυτους και εθεσαν εις τους οικους των υψηλων τοπων, τους οποιους οι Σαμαρειται εκαμον, εκαστον εθνος εν ταις πολεσιν αυτων, οπου κατωκουν.	29 And each of the nations made gods of their own, and they placed them in the shrines of the high places, which the Samaritans had made: nation after nation, in their cities in which they were living.
30 Και οι ανδρες της Βαβυλωνος εκαμον την Σοκχωθ-βενωθ, οι δε ανδρες της Χουθα εκαμον την Νεργαλ, και οι ανδρες της Αιμαθ εκαμον την Ασιμα,	30 So the men of Babylon made Soccoth-benoth; and the men of Cuth made Nergal; and the men of Hamath made Ashima;
31 και οι Αυιται εκαμον την Νιβαζ και τον Ταρτακ, και οι Σεφαρουιται εκαιον τους υιους αυτων δια του πυρος εις τον Αδραμμελεχ και Αναμμελεχ, θεους των Σεφαρουιτων.	31 and the Avvites made Nibhaz and Tartak. Then those who were from Sepharvaim burned up their children with fire, for the gods of Sepharvaim: Adram-melech and Anam-melech.
32 Ουτως εφοβουντο τον Κυριον? εκαμον δε εις εαυτους εκ των εσχατων μεταξυ αυτων ιερεις των υψηλων τοπων, οιτινες εθυσιαζον υπερ αυτων εν τοις οικοις των υψηλων τοπων.	32 But nevertheless, they worshipped the Lord. Then they made for themselves, from the least of the people, priests of the high places. And they placed them in the shrines of the high places.
33 Εφοβουντο μεν τον Κυριον, ελατρευον ομως τους ιδιους αυτων θεους, κατα τον τροπον των εθνων, οθεν μετωκισθησαν.	33 And though they worshipped the Lord, they also served their own gods, according to the custom of the nations from which they had been transferred into Samaria.
34 Εως της ημερας ταυτης καμνουσι κατα τους προτερους τροπους? δεν φοβουνται τον Κυριον και δεν πραττουσι κατα τα διαταγματα αυτων και κατα τας κρισεις αυτων και κατα τον νομον και την εντολην, την οποιαν προσεταξεν ο Κυριος εις τους υιους Ιακωβ, τον οποιον ωνομασεν Ισραηλ?	34 Even to the present day, they follow the ancient customs; they do not fear the Lord, and they do not keep his ceremonies, and judgments, and law, and commandment, which the Lord had instructed to the sons of Jacob, whom he named Israel.
35 και εκαμε προς αυτους ο Κυριος διαθηκην και προσεταξεν αυτους, λεγων, Δεν θελετε φοβηθη αλλους θεους, και δεν θελετε προσκυνησει αυτους ουδε λατρευσει αυτους ουδε θυσιασει εις αυτους?	35 And he had struck a covenant with them, and he had commanded them, saying: “You shall not fear foreign gods, and you shall not adore them, and you shall not worship them, and you shall not sacrifice to them.
36 αλλα τον Κυριον, οστις σας ανηγαγεν εκ γης Αιγυπτου μετα δυναμεως μεγαλης και εν βραχιονι εξηπλωμενω, αυτον θελετε φοβεισθαι και αυτον θελετε προσκυνει και εις αυτον θελετε θυσιαζει,	36 But the Lord, your God, who led you away from the land of Egypt, with great strength and with an outstretched arm, him shall you fear, and him shall you adore, and to him shall you sacrifice.
37 και τα διαταγματα και τας κρισεις και τον νομον και την εντολην, την οποιαν εγραψε δια σας, θελετε προσεχει να εκτελητε παντοτε? αλλους δε θεους δεν θελετε φοβηθη?	37 Also, the ceremonies, and judgments, and law, and commandment, which he wrote for you, you shall keep so that you do them for all days. And you shall not fear strange gods.
38 και την διαθηκην, την οποιαν εκαμα προς εσας, δεν θελετε λησμονησει και δεν θελετε φοβηθη αλλους θεους?	38 And the covenant, which he struck with you, you shall not forget; neither shall you worship strange gods.
39 αλλα Κυριον τον Θεον σας θελετε φοβεισθαι και αυτος θελει σας ελευθερωσει εκ χειρος παντων των εχθρων σας.	39 But you shall fear the Lord, your God. And he will rescue you from the hand of all your enemies.”
40 Πλην δεν υπηκουσαν, αλλ' εκαμνον κατα τους προτερους τροπους αυτων.	40 Yet truly, they did not listen to this. Instead, they acted in accord with their earlier custom.
41 Και τα εθνη ταυτα εφοβουντο μεν τον Κυριον, ελατρευον ομως τα γλυπτα αυτων? και οι υιοι αυτων και των υιων αυτων οι υιοι, καθως οι πατερες αυτων εκαμνον, ουτω καμνουσιν εως της ημερας ταυτης.	41 And such were these nations: to some extent fearing the Lord, yet nevertheless also serving their idols. As for their sons and grandsons, just as their fathers acted, so also did they act, even to the present day.
