Genesis 28

1 Isaak rief Jakob, segnete ihn und befahl ihm: Nimm keine Kanaaniterin zur Frau!	1 Then Isaac called Jacob and blessed him, and charged him, "You shall not marry one of the Canaanite women.
2 Mach dich auf, geh nach Paddan-Aram, zum Haus Betuëls, des Vaters deiner Mutter! Hol dir von dort eine Frau, eine von den Töchtern Labans, des Bruders deiner Mutter!	2 Arise, go to Paddan-aram to the house of Bethuel your mother's father; and take as wife from there one of the daughters of Laban your mother's brother.
3 Gott der Allmächtige wird dich segnen, er wird dich fruchtbar machen und vermehren: Zu einer Schar von Völkern wirst du werden.	3 God Almighty bless you and make you fruitful and multiply you, that you may become a company of peoples.
4 Er wird dir und mit dir auch deinen Nachkommen den Segen Abrahams verleihen, damit du das Land in Besitz nimmst, in dem du als Fremder lebst, das aber Gott Abraham gegeben hat.	4 May he give the blessing of Abraham to you and to your descendants with you, that you may take possession of the land of your sojournings which God gave to Abraham!"
5 Isaak verabschiedete Jakob und Jakob zog nach Paddan-Aram zu Laban, dem Sohn des Aramäers Betuël. Dieser war der Bruder Rebekkas, der Mutter Jakobs und Esaus.	5 Thus Isaac sent Jacob away; and he went to Paddan-aram to Laban, the son of Bethuel the Aramean, the brother of Rebekah, Jacob's and Esau's mother.
6 Esau sah, dass Isaak Jakob segnete und nach Paddan-Aram schickte, damit er sich von dort eine Frau holt. Als er ihn segnete, trug er ihm auf: Nimm dir keine Kanaaniterin zur Frau!	6 Now Esau saw that Isaac had blessed Jacob and sent him away to Paddan-aram to take a wife from there, and that as he blessed him he charged him, "You shall not marry one of the Canaanite women,"
7 Jakob hörte auf seinen Vater und seine Mutter und begab sich auf den Weg nach Paddan-Aram.	7 and that Jacob had obeyed his father and his mother and gone to Paddan-aram.
8 Als Esau merkte, dass die Kanaaniterinnen seinem Vater Isaak nicht gefielen,	8 So when Esau saw that the Canaanite women did not please Isaac his father,
9 ging er zu Ismael und nahm zu seinen Frauen noch Mahalat als Frau hinzu, die Schwester Nebajots, die Tochter Ismaels, des Sohnes Abrahams.	9 Esau went to Ishmael and took to wife, besides the wives he had, Mahalath the daughter of Ishmael Abraham's son, the sister of Nebaioth.
10 Jakob zog aus Beerscheba weg und ging nach Haran.	10 Jacob left Beer-sheba, and went toward Haran.
11 Er kam an einen bestimmten Ort, wo er übernachtete, denn die Sonne war untergegangen. Er nahm einen von den Steinen dieses Ortes, legte ihn unter seinen Kopf und schlief dort ein.	11 And he came to a certain place, and stayed there that night, because the sun had set. Taking one of the stones of the place, he put it under his head and lay down in that place to sleep.
12 Da hatte er einen Traum: Er sah eine Treppe, die auf der Erde stand und bis zum Himmel reichte. Auf ihr stiegen Engel Gottes auf und nieder.	12 And he dreamed that there was a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven; and behold, the angels of God were ascending and descending on it!
13 Und siehe, der Herr stand oben und sprach: Ich bin der Herr, der Gott deines Vaters Abraham und der Gott Isaaks. Das Land, auf dem du liegst, will ich dir und deinen Nachkommen geben.	13 And behold, the LORD stood above it and said, "I am the LORD, the God of Abraham your father and the God of Isaac; the land on which you lie I will give to you and to your descendants;
14 Deine Nachkommen werden zahlreich sein wie der Staub auf der Erde. Du wirst dich unaufhaltsam ausbreiten nach Westen und Osten, nach Norden und Süden und durch dich und deine Nachkommen werden alle Geschlechter der Erde Segen erlangen.	14 and your descendants shall be like the dust of the earth, and you shall spread abroad to the west and to the east and to the north and to the south; and by you and your descendants shall all the families of the earth bless themselves.
15 Ich bin mit dir, ich behüte dich, wohin du auch gehst, und bringe dich zurück in dieses Land. Denn ich verlasse dich nicht, bis ich vollbringe, was ich dir versprochen habe.	15 Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done that of which I have spoken to you."
16 Jakob erwachte aus seinem Schlaf und sagte: Wirklich, der Herr ist an diesem Ort und ich wusste es nicht.	16 Then Jacob awoke from his sleep and said, "Surely the LORD is in this place; and I did not know it."
17 Furcht überkam ihn und er sagte: Wie Ehrfurcht gebietend ist doch dieser Ort! Hier ist nichts anderes als das Haus Gottes und das Tor des Himmels.	17 And he was afraid, and said, "How awesome is this place! This is none other than the house of God, and this is the gate of heaven."
18 Jakob stand früh am Morgen auf, nahm den Stein, den er unter seinen Kopf gelegt hatte, stellte ihn als Steinmal auf und goss Öl darauf.	18 So Jacob rose early in the morning, and he took the stone which he had put under his head and set it up for a pillar and poured oil on the top of it.
19 Dann gab er dem Ort den Namen Bet-El (Gotteshaus). Früher hieß die Stadt Lus.	19 He called the name of that place Bethel; but the name of the city was Luz at the first.
20 Jakob machte das Gelübde: Wenn Gott mit mir ist und mich auf diesem Weg, den ich eingeschlagen habe, behütet, wenn er mir Brot zum Essen und Kleider zum Anziehen gibt,	20 Then Jacob made a vow, saying, "If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat and clothing to wear,
21 wenn ich wohlbehalten heimkehre in das Haus meines Vaters und der Herr sich mir als Gott erweist,	21 so that I come again to my father's house in peace, then the LORD shall be my God,
22 dann soll der Stein, den ich als Steinmal aufgestellt habe, ein Gotteshaus werden und von allem, was du mir schenkst, will ich dir den zehnten Teil geben.	22 and this stone, which I have set up for a pillar, shall be God's house; and of all that thou givest me I will give the tenth to thee."
