1 And looking on, he saw the rich men cast their gifts into the treasury.	1 Alzati gli occhi, vide alcuni ricchi che gettavano le loro offerte nel tesoro.
2 And he saw also a certain poor widow casting in two brass mites.	2 Vide anche una vedova povera che vi gettava due spiccioli
3 And he said: Verily I say to you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all:	3 e disse: "In verità vi dico: questa vedova, povera, ha messo più di tutti.
4 For all these have of their abundance cast into the offerings of God: but she of her want, hath cast in all the living that she had.	4 Tutti costoro, infatti, han deposto come offerta del loro superfluo, questa invece nella sua miseria ha dato tutto quanto aveva per vivere".
5 And some saying of the temple, that it was adorned with goodly stones and gifts, he said:	5 Mentre alcuni parlavano del tempio e delle belle pietre e dei doni votivi che lo adornavano, disse:
6 These things which you see, the days will come in which there shall not be left a stone upon a stone that shall not be thrown down.	6 "Verranno giorni in cui, di tutto quello che ammirate, non resterà pietra su pietra che non venga distrutta".
7 And they asked him, saying: Master, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign when they shall begin to come to pass?	7 Gli domandarono: "Maestro, quando accadrà questo e quale sarà il segno che ciò sta per compiersi?".
8 Who said: Take heed you be not seduced; for many will come in my name, saying, I am he; and the time is at hand: go ye not therefore after them.	8 Rispose: "Guardate di non lasciarvi ingannare. Molti verranno sotto il mio nome dicendo: "Sono io" e: "Il tempo è prossimo"; non seguiteli.
9 And when you shall hear of wars and seditions, be not terrified: these things must first come to pass; but the end is not yet presently.	9 Quando sentirete parlare di guerre e di rivoluzioni, non vi terrorizzate. Devono infatti accadere prima queste cose, ma non sarà subito la fine".
10 Then he said to them: Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.	10 Poi disse loro: "Si solleverà popolo contro popolo e regno contro regno,
11 And there shall be great earthquakes in divers places, and pestilences, and famines, and terrors from heaven; and there shall be great signs.	11 e vi saranno di luogo in luogo terremoti, carestie e pestilenze; vi saranno anche fatti terrificanti e segni grandi dal cielo.
12 But before all these things, they will lay their hands upon you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues and into prisons, dragging you before kings and governors, for my name's sake.	12 Ma prima di tutto questo metteranno le mani su di voi e vi perseguiteranno, consegnandovi alle sinagoghe e alle prigioni, trascinandovi davanti a re e a governatori, a causa del mio nome.
13 And it shall happen unto you for a testimony.	13 Questo vi darà occasione di render testimonianza.
14 Lay it up therefore into your hearts, not to meditate before how you shall answer:	14 Mettetevi bene in mente di non preparare prima la vostra difesa;
15 For I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which all your adversaries shall not be able to resist and gainsay.	15 io vi darò lingua e sapienza, a cui tutti i vostri avversari non potranno resistere, né controbattere.
16 And you shall be betrayed by your parents and brethren, and kinsmen and friends; and some of you they will put to death.	16 Sarete traditi perfino dai genitori, dai fratelli, dai parenti e dagli amici, e metteranno a morte alcuni di voi;
17 And you shall be hated by all men for my name's sake.	17 sarete odiati da tutti per causa del mio nome.
18 But a hair of your head shall not perish.	18 Ma nemmeno un capello del vostro capo perirà.
19 In your patience you shall possess your souls.	19 Con la vostra perseveranza salverete le vostre anime.
20 And when you shall see Jerusalem compassed about with an army; then know that the desolation thereof is at hand.	20 Ma quando vedrete Gerusalemme circondata da eserciti, sappiate allora che la sua devastazione è vicina.
21 Then let those who are in Judea, flee to the mountains; and those who are in the midst thereof, depart out: and those who are in the countries, not enter into it.	21 Allora coloro che si trovano nella Giudea fuggano ai monti, coloro che sono dentro la città se ne allontanino, e quelli in campagna non tornino in città;
22 For these are the days of vengeance, that all things may be fulfilled, that are written.	22 saranno infatti giorni di vendetta, perché tutto ciò che è stato scritto si compia.
23 But woe to them that are with child, and give suck in those days; for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people.	23 Guai alle donne che sono incinte e allattano in quei giorni, perché vi sarà grande calamità nel paese e ira contro questo popolo.
24 And they shall fall by the edge of the sword; and shall be led away captives into all nations; and Jerusalem shall be trodden down by the Gentiles; till the times of the nations be fulfilled.	24 Cadranno a fil di spada e saranno condotti prigionieri tra tutti i popoli; Gerusalemme sarà calpestata dai pagani finché i tempi dei pagani siano compiuti.
25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, by reason of the confusion of the roaring of the sea and of the waves;	25 Vi saranno segni nel sole, nella luna e nelle stelle, e sulla terra angoscia di popoli in ansia per il fragore del mare e dei flutti,
26 Men withering away for fear, and expectation of what shall come upon the whole world. For the powers of heaven shall be moved;	26 mentre gli uomini moriranno per la paura e per l'attesa di ciò che dovrà accadere sulla terra. 'Le' potenze 'dei cieli' infatti saranno sconvolte.
27 And then they shall see the Son of man coming in a cloud, with great power and majesty.	27 Allora vedranno 'il Figlio dell'uomo venire su una nube' con potenza e gloria grande.
28 But when these things begin to come to pass, look up, and lift up your heads, because your redemption is at hand.	28 Quando cominceranno ad accadere queste cose, alzatevi e levate il capo, perché la vostra liberazione è vicina".
29 And he spoke to them in a similitude. See the fig tree, and all the trees:	29 E disse loro una parabola: "Guardate il fico e tutte le piante;
30 When they now shoot forth their fruit, you know that summer is nigh;	30 quando già germogliano, guardandoli capite da voi stessi che ormai l'estate è vicina.
31 So you also, when you shall see these things come to pass, know that the kingdom of God is at hand.	31 Così pure, quando voi vedrete accadere queste cose, sappiate che il regno di Dio è vicino.
32 Amen, I say to you, this generation shall not pass away, till all things be fulfilled.	32 In verità vi dico: non passerà questa generazione finché tutto ciò sia avvenuto.
33 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.	33 Il cielo e la terra passeranno, ma le mie parole non passeranno.
34 And take heed to yourselves, lest perhaps your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting and drunkenness, and the cares of this life, and that day come upon you suddenly.	34 State bene attenti che i vostri cuori non si appesantiscano in dissipazioni, ubriachezze e affanni della vita e che quel giorno non vi piombi addosso improvviso;
35 For as a snare shall it come upon all that sit upon the face of the whole earth.	35 come un laccio esso si abbatterà sopra tutti coloro che abitano sulla faccia di tutta la terra.
36 Watch ye, therefore, praying at all times, that you may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that are to come, and to stand before the Son of man.	36 Vegliate e pregate in ogni momento, perché abbiate la forza di sfuggire a tutto ciò che deve accadere, e di comparire davanti al Figlio dell'uomo".
37 And in the daytime, he was teaching in the temple; but at night, going out, he abode in the mount that is called Olivet.	37 Durante il giorno insegnava nel tempio, la notte usciva e pernottava all'aperto sul monte detto degli Ulivi.
38 And all the people came early in the morning to him in the temple, to hear him.	38 E tutto il popolo veniva a lui di buon mattino nel tempio per ascoltarlo.
