Amos 4

DOUAI-RHEIMS	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 Hear this word, ye fat kine that are in the mountains of Samaria: you that oppress the needy, and crush the poor: that say to your masters: Bring, and we will drink.	1 Ascoltate questa parola, vacche del Basàn che siete sulla montagna di Samaria: Oh, esse schiacciano i miseri, oh, esse spezzano i poveri, oh, esse dicono ai loro signori: Porta qua, e beviamo!
2 The Lord God hath sworn by his holiness, that lo, the days shall come upon you, when they shall lift you up on pikes, and what shall remain of you in boiling pots.	2 Ha giurato il Signore Dio per la sua santità: Sì, ecco: giorni stanno arrivando su di voi che vi si leverà con uncini, e quante tra voi rimangono indietro con ami da pesca.
3 And you shall go out at the breaches one over against the other, and you shall be cast forth into Armon, saith the Lord.	3 Per brecce uscirete, ognuna davanti a sé, e sarete spinte verso l'Ermon. Oracolo del Signore.
4 Come ye to Bethel, and do wickedly: to Galgal, and multiply transgressions: and bring in the morning your victims, your tithes in three days.	4 Venite a Betel e peccate, a Gàlgala e moltiplicate il peccato! Offrite per il mattino i vostri sacrifici e per il terzo giorno le vostre decime,
5 And offer a sacrifice of praise with leaven: and call free offerings, and proclaim it: for so you would do, O children of Israel, saith the Lord God.	5 offrite sacrifici di ringraziamento con lievito, e proclamate i sacrifici volontari, fateli udire, poiché così piace a voi, figli d'Israele. Oracolo del Signore Dio.
6 Whereupon I also have given you dulness of teeth in all your cities, and want of bread in all your places: yet you have not returned to me, saith the Lord.	6 Eppure io vi lasciai a denti asciutti in tutte le vostre città, con carestia di pane in tutte le vostre borgate: e non tornaste fino a me. Oracolo del Signore.
7 I also have withholden the rain from you, when there were yet three months to the harvest: and I caused it to rain upon one city, and caused it not to rain upon another city: one piece was rained upon: and the piece whereupon I rained not, withered.	7 Io trattenni da voi la pioggia, a tre mesi dalla mietitura. Facevo piovere su una città e su un'altra città non facevo piovere. Un campo era fradicio di pioggia e il campo su cui non pioveva inaridiva.
8 And two and three cities went to one city to drink water, and were not filled: yet you returned not to me, saith the Lord.	8 Due, tre città andavano barcollando ad un'altra per bere acqua e non si saziavano: ma non tornaste fino a me. Oracolo del Signore.
9 I struck you with a burning wind, and with mildew, the palmerworm hath eaten up your many gardens, and your vineyards: your olive groves, and fig groves: yet you returned not to me, saith the Lord.	9 Percossi voi con l'arsura e con la ruggine; ho disseccato i vostri frutteti e i vostri vigneti; le vostre ficaie e i vostri uliveti li divorò la cavalletta: e non tornaste fino a me. Oracolo del Signore.
10 I sent death upon you in the way of Egypt, I slew your young men with the sword, even to the captivity of your horses: and I made the stench of your camp to come up into your nostrils: yet you returned not to me, saith the Lord.	10 Mandai tra voi peste alla maniera d'Egitto. Trucidai con la spada gli adolescenti vostri, mentre erano catturati i vostri cavalli. Feci salire il fetore dei vostri accampamenti nelle vostre stesse narici: e non tornaste fino a me. Oracolo del Signore.
11 I destroyed some of you, as God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrha, and you were as a firebrand plucked out of the burning: yet you returned not to me, saith the Lord.	11 Vi travolsi del tutto, come quando Dio travolse Sodoma e Gomorra; diventaste come un tizzone strappato ad un incendio: ma non tornaste fino a me. Oracolo del Signore.
12 Therefore I will do these things to thee, O Israel: and after I shall have done these things to thee, be prepared to meet thy God, O Israel.	12 Perciò così farò a te, Israele, proprio per questo lo farò a te: Prepàrati a incontrare il tuo Dio, Israele.
13 For behold he that formeth the mountains and createth the wind, and declareth his word to man, he that maketh the morning mist, and walketh upon the high places of the earth: the Lord the God of hosts is his name.	13 Poiché ecco: Colui che plasma i monti e che crea il vento e che svela all'uomo qual è il suo pensiero, colui che trasforma l'aurora in oscurità e cammina sulle sommità della terra: Signore, Dio delle schiere è il suo nome.
