Amos 4

DOUAI-RHEIMS	JERUSALEM
1 Hear this word, ye fat kine that are in the mountains of Samaria: you that oppress the needy, and crush the poor: that say to your masters: Bring, and we will drink.	1 Ecoutez cette parole, vaches de Bashân qui êtes sur la montagne de Samarie, qui exploitez les faibles,qui maltraitez les pauvres, qui dites à vos maris: "Apporte et buvons!"
2 The Lord God hath sworn by his holiness, that lo, the days shall come upon you, when they shall lift you up on pikes, and what shall remain of you in boiling pots.	2 Le Seigneur l'a juré par sa sainteté: voici que des jours viennent sur vous où l'on vous enlèvera avecdes crocs, et jusqu'aux dernières, avec des harpons de pêche;
3 And you shall go out at the breaches one over against the other, and you shall be cast forth into Armon, saith the Lord.	3 vous sortirez par des brèches, chacune droit devant soi, et vous serez repoussées vers l'Hermon, oraclede Yahvé.
4 Come ye to Bethel, and do wickedly: to Galgal, and multiply transgressions: and bring in the morning your victims, your tithes in three days.	4 Allez à Béthel et péchez! A Gilgal, péchez de plus belle! Apportez le matin vos sacrifices, tous lestrois jours vos dîmes;
5 And offer a sacrifice of praise with leaven: and call free offerings, and proclaim it: for so you would do, O children of Israel, saith the Lord God.	5 faites brûler du levain en sacrifice de louange, criez vos offrandes volontaires, annoncez-les, puisquec'est cela que vous aimez, enfants d'Israël! Oracle du Seigneur Yahvé.
6 Whereupon I also have given you dulness of teeth in all your cities, and want of bread in all your places: yet you have not returned to me, saith the Lord.	6 Aussi, moi je vous ai fait les dents nettes en toutes vos villes, je vous ai privés de pain dans tous vosvillages; et vous n'êtes pas revenus à moi! Oracle de Yahvé.
7 I also have withholden the rain from you, when there were yet three months to the harvest: and I caused it to rain upon one city, and caused it not to rain upon another city: one piece was rained upon: and the piece whereupon I rained not, withered.	7 Aussi, moi je vous ai refusé la pluie, juste trois mois avant la moisson; j'ai fait pleuvoir sur une villeet sur une autre ville je ne faisais pas pleuvoir; un champ recevait de la pluie, et un champ, faute de pluie, sedesséchait;
8 And two and three cities went to one city to drink water, and were not filled: yet you returned not to me, saith the Lord.	8 deux, trois villes allaient en titubant vers une autre pour boire de l'eau sans pouvoir se désaltérer; etvous n'êtes pas revenus à moi! Oracle de Yahvé.
9 I struck you with a burning wind, and with mildew, the palmerworm hath eaten up your many gardens, and your vineyards: your olive groves, and fig groves: yet you returned not to me, saith the Lord.	9 Je vous ai frappés par la rouille et la nielle, j'ai desséché vos jardins et vos vignes; vos figuiers et vosoliviers, la sauterelle les a dévorés; et vous n'êtes par revenus à moi! Oracle de Yahvé.
10 I sent death upon you in the way of Egypt, I slew your young men with the sword, even to the captivity of your horses: and I made the stench of your camp to come up into your nostrils: yet you returned not to me, saith the Lord.	10 J'ai envoyé parmi vous une peste, comme la peste d'Egypte; j'ai tué vos jeunes gens par l'épée, tandisque vos chevaux étaient capturés; j'ai fait monter à vos narines la puanteur de vos camps; et vous n'êtes pasrevenus à moi! Oracle de Yahvé.
11 I destroyed some of you, as God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrha, and you were as a firebrand plucked out of the burning: yet you returned not to me, saith the Lord.	11 Je vous ai bouleversés comme Dieu bouleversa Sodome et Gomorrhe, et vous avez été comme untison sauvé de l'incendie; et vous n'êtes pas revenus à moi! Oracle de Yahvé.
12 Therefore I will do these things to thee, O Israel: and after I shall have done these things to thee, be prepared to meet thy God, O Israel.	12 C'est pourquoi, voici comment je vais te traiter, Israël! Parce que je vais te traiter ainsi, prépare-toi àrencontrer ton Dieu, Israël!
13 For behold he that formeth the mountains and createth the wind, and declareth his word to man, he that maketh the morning mist, and walketh upon the high places of the earth: the Lord the God of hosts is his name.	13 Car c'est lui qui forme les montagnes et qui crée le vent, qui révèle à l'homme ses pensées, quichange l'aurore en ténèbres, et qui marche sur les hauteurs de la terre: Yahvé, Dieu Sabaot, est son nom.
