DOUAI-RHEIMSNEW AMERICAN BIBLE
A psalm of a canticle on the sabbath day.1 A psalm. A sabbath song.
It is good to give praise to the Lord: and to sing to thy name, O most High.2 It is good to give thanks to the LORD, to sing praise to your name, Most High,
To shew forth thy mercy in the morning, and thy truth in the night:3 To proclaim your love in the morning, your faithfulness in the night,
Upon an instrument of ten strings, upon the psaltery: with a canticle upon the harp.4 With the ten-stringed harp, with melody upon the lyre.
For thou hast given me, O Lord, a delight in thy doings: and in the works of thy hands I shall rejoice.5 For you make me jubilant, LORD, by your deeds; at the works of your hands I shout for joy.
O Lord, how great are thy works! thy thoughts are exceeding deep.6 How great are your works, LORD! How profound your purpose!
The senseless man shall not know: nor will the fool understand these things.7 A senseless person cannot know this; a fool cannot comprehend.
When the wicked shall spring up as grass: and all the workers of iniquity shall appear: That they may perish for ever and ever:8 Though the wicked flourish like grass and all sinners thrive, They are destined for eternal destruction;
but thou, O Lord, art most high for evermore.9 for you, LORD, are forever on high.
For behold thy enemies, O Lord, for behold thy enemies shall perish: and all the workers of iniquity shall be scattered.10 Indeed your enemies, LORD, indeed your enemies shall perish; all sinners shall be scattered.
But my horn shall be exalted like that of the unicorn: and my old age in plentiful mercy.11 You have given me the strength of a wild bull; you have poured rich oil upon me.
My eye also hath looked down upon my enemies: and my ear shall hear of the downfall of the malignant that rise up against me.12 My eyes look with glee on my wicked enemies; my ears delight in the fall of my foes.
The just shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow up like the cedar of Libanus.13 The just shall flourish like the palm tree, shall grow like a cedar of Lebanon.
They that are planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of the house of our God.14 Planted in the house of the LORD, they shall flourish in the courts of our God.
They shall still increase in a fruitful old age: and shall be well treated,15 They shall bear fruit even in old age, always vigorous and sturdy,
that they may shew, That the Lord our God is righteous, and there is no iniquity in him.16 As they proclaim: "The LORD is just; our rock, in whom there is no wrong."
