Psalms 91

1 The praise of a canticle for David. He that dwelleth in the aid of the most High, shall abide under the protection of the God of Jacob.	1 - Salmo-cantico. Per il giorno di sabbato.
2 He shall say to the Lord: Thou art my protector, and my refuge: my God, in him will I trust.	2 Bello è dar lode al Signore, e inneggiare al tuo nome, o Altissimo,
3 For he hath delivered me from the snare of the hunters: and from the sharp word.	3 per proclamare al mattino la tua misericordiae la tua fedeltà la notte,
4 He will overshadow thee with his shoulders: and under his wings thou shalt trust.	4 sulla lira a dieci corde [e] sull'arpa con un cantico sulla cetra.
5 His truth shall compass thee with a shield: thou shalt not be afraid of the terror of the night.	5 Perchè tu m'allieti, o Signore, con l'azione tua, e per le opere delle tue mani esulto.
6 Of the arrow that flieth in the day, of the business that walketh about in the dark: of invasion, or of the noonday devil.	6 Quanto magnifiche son le tue opere, o Signore!profondissimi sono i tuoi consigli.
7 A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand: but it shall not come nigh thee.	7 L'insipiente non capisce e lo stolto non intende queste cose.
8 But thou shalt consider with thy eyes: and shalt see the reward of the wicked.	8 Quando gli empi spuntan su come l'erba, e fioriscon tutti quei che operano l'iniquità, [gli è] perchè periscano [poi] ne' secoli de' secoli.
9 Because thou, O Lord, art my hope: thou hast made the most High thy refuge.	9 Ma eccelso tu [resti] in eterno, o Signore!
10 There shall no evil come to thee: nor shall the scourge come near thy dwelling.	10 Perchè ecco che i tuoi nemici, o Signore, ecco che i tuoi nemici periranno, e saran dispersi tutti quei che operan l'iniquità.
11 For he hath given his angels charge over thee; to keep thee in all thy ways.	11 Ma sarà esaltato come [corno] di bufalo il corno mioe la mia vecchiaia [sarà ricolma] di grazia abbondante.
12 In their hands they shall bear thee up: lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.	12 E [soddisfatto] si poserà il mio occhio sui miei nemici.e de' miei maligni aggressori udrà [parlare] il mio orecchio.
13 Thou shalt walk upon the asp and the basilisk: and thou shalt trample under foot the lion and the dragon.	13 Il giusto fiorirà come palma, crescerà come il cedro del Libano.
14 Because he hoped in me I will deliver him: I will protect him because he hath known my name.	14 piantati nella casa del Signore, negli atri della casa del nostro Dio fioriranno.
15 He shall cry to me, and I will hear him: I am with him in tribulation, I will deliver him, and I will glorify him.	15 Fruttificheranno ancora nella vecchiaia, rigogliosi e verdeggianti saranno,
16 I will fill him with length of days; and I will shew him my salvation.	16 per annunziare che retto è il Signore, Iddio nostro, e non v'è iniquità in lui.
