Unto the end, destroy not, for David, for an inscription of a title.1 To the choirmaster: according to Do Not Destroy. A Miktam of David. Do you indeed decree what is right, you gods? Do you judge the sons of men uprightly?
If in very deed you speak justice: judge right things, ye sons of men.2 Nay, in your hearts you devise wrongs; your hands deal out violence on earth.
For in your heart you work iniquity: your hands forge injustice in the earth.3 The wicked go astray from the womb, they err from their birth, speaking lies.
The wicked are alienated from the womb; they have gone astray from the womb: they have spoken false things.4 They have venom like the venom of a serpent, like the deaf adder that stops its ear,
Their madness is according to the likeness of a serpent: like the deaf asp that stoppeth her ears:5 so that it does not hear the voice of charmers or of the cunning enchanter.
Which will not hear the voice of the charmers; nor of the wizard that charmeth wisely.6 O God, break the teeth in their mouths; tear out the fangs of the young lions, O LORD!
God shall break in pieces their teeth in their mouth: the Lord shall break the grinders of the lions.7 Let them vanish like water that runs away; like grass let them be trodden down and wither.
They shall come to nothing, like water running down; he hath bent his bow till they be weakened.8 Let them be like the snail which dissolves into slime, like the untimely birth that never sees the sun.
Like wax that melteth they shall be taken away: fire hath fallen on them, and they shall not see the sun.9 Sooner than your pots can feel the heat of thorns, whether green or ablaze, may he sweep them away!
Before your thorns could know the brier; he swalloweth them up, as alive, in his wrath.10 The righteous will rejoice when he sees the vengeance; he will bathe his feet in the blood of the wicked.
The just shall rejoice when he shall see the revenge: he shall wash his hands in the blood of the sinner.11 Men will say, "Surely there is a reward for the righteous; surely there is a God who judges on earth."
And man shall say: If indeed there be fruit to the just: there is indeed a God that judgeth them on the earth.
