Blessed be the Lord my God, who teacheth my hands to fight, and my fingers to war.1 Alleluia. Of Haggai and Zachariah.
My mercy, and my refuge: my support, and my deliverer: My protector, and I have hoped in him: who subdueth my people under me.2 Praise the Lord, O my soul. I will praise the Lord with my life. I will sing psalms to my God as long as I shall be. Do not trust in the leaders,
Lord, what is man, that thou art made known to him? or the son of man, that thou makest account of him?3 in the sons of men, in whom there is no salvation.
Man is like to vanity: his days pass away like a shadow.4 His spirit will depart, and he will return to his earth. In that day, all their thoughts will perish.
Lord, bow down thy heavens and descend: touch the mountains and they shall smoke.5 Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob: his hope is in the Lord God himself,
Send forth lightning, and thou shalt scatter them: shoot out thy arrows, and thou shalt trouble them.6 who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all the things that are in them.
Put forth thy hand from on high, take me out, and deliver me from many waters: from the hand of strange children:7 He preserves the truth forever. He executes judgment for those who suffer injury. He provides food for the hungry. The Lord releases those who are bound.
Whose mouth hath spoken vanity: and their right hand is the right hand of iniquity.8 The Lord enlightens the blind. The Lord sets upright those who have been thrown down. The Lord loves the just.
To thee, O God, I will sing a new canticle: on the psaltery and an instrument of ten strings I will sing praises to thee.9 The Lord watches over new arrivals. He will support the orphan and the widow. And he will destroy the ways of sinners.
Who givest salvation to kings: who hast redeemed thy servant David from the malicious sword:10 The Lord shall reign forever: your God, O Zion, from generation to generation.
Deliver me, And rescue me out of the hand of strange children; whose mouth hath spoken vanity: and their right hand is the right hand of iniquity:
Whose sons are as new plants in their youth: Their daughters decked out, adorned round about after the similitude of a temple:
Their storehouses full, flowing out of this into that. Their sheep fruitful in young, abounding in their goings forth:
their oxen fat. There is no breach of wall, nor passage, nor crying out in their streets.
They have called the people happy, that hath these things: but happy is that people whose God is the Lord.
