¹ Silver hath beginnings of its veins, and gold hath a place wherein it is melted.	¹ εστιν γαρ αργυριω τοπος οθεν γινεται τοπος δε χρυσιω οθεν διηθειται
² Iron is taken out of the earth, and stone melted with heat is turned into brass.	² σιδηρος μεν γαρ εκ γης γινεται χαλκος δε ισα λιθω λατομειται
³ He hath set a time for darkness, and the end of all things he considereth, the stone also that is in the dark and the shadow of death.	³ ταξιν εθετο σκοτει και παν περας αυτος εξακριβαζεται λιθος σκοτια και σκια θανατου
⁴ The flood divideth from the people that are on their journey, those whom the food of the needy man hath forgotten, and who cannot be come at.	⁴ διακοπη χειμαρρου απο κονιας οι δε επιλανθανομενοι οδον δικαιαν ησθενησαν εκ βροτων
⁵ The land, out of which bread grew in its place, hath been overturned with fire.	⁵ γη εξ αυτης εξελευσεται αρτος υποκατω αυτης εστραφη ωσει πυρ
⁶ The stones of it are the place of sapphires, and the clods of it are gold.	⁶ τοπος σαπφειρου οι λιθοι αυτης και χωμα χρυσιον αυτω
⁷ The bird hath not known the path, neither hath the eye of the vulture beheld it.	⁷ τριβος ουκ εγνω αυτην πετεινον και ου παρεβλεψεν αυτην οφθαλμος γυπος
⁸ The children of the merchants have not trodden it, neither hath the lioness passed by it.	⁸ ουκ επατησαν αυτην υιοι αλαζονων ου παρηλθεν επ' αυτης λεων
⁹ He hath stretched forth his hand to the flint, he hath overturned mountains from the roots.	⁹ εν ακροτομω εξετεινεν χειρα αυτου κατεστρεψεν δε εκ ριζων ορη
¹⁰ In the rocks he hath cut out rivers, and his eye hath seen every precious thing.	¹⁰ δινας δε ποταμων ερρηξεν παν δε εντιμον ειδεν μου ο οφθαλμος
¹¹ The depths also of rivers he hath searched, and hidden things he hath brought forth to light.	¹¹ βαθη δε ποταμων ανεκαλυψεν εδειξεν δε εαυτου δυναμιν εις φως
¹² But where is wisdom to be found, and where is the place of understanding?	¹² η δε σοφια ποθεν ευρεθη ποιος δε τοπος εστιν της επιστημης
¹³ Man knoweth not the price thereof, neither is it found in the land of them that live in delights.	¹³ ουκ οιδεν βροτος οδον αυτης ουδε μη ευρεθη εν ανθρωποις
¹⁴ The depth saith: It is not in me: and the sea saith: It is not with me.	¹⁴ αβυσσος ειπεν ουκ εστιν εν εμοι και θαλασσα ειπεν ουκ εστιν μετ' εμου
¹⁵ The finest gold shall not purchase it, neither shall silver be weighed in exchange for it	¹⁵ ου δωσει συγκλεισμον αντ' αυτης και ου σταθησεται αργυριον ανταλλαγμα αυτης
¹⁶ It shall not be compared with the dyed colours of India, or with the most precious stone sardonyx, or the sapphire.	¹⁶ και ου συμβασταχθησεται χρυσιω ωφιρ εν ονυχι τιμιω και σαπφειρω
¹⁷ Gold or crystal cannot equal it, neither shall any vessels of gold be changed for it.	¹⁷ ουκ ισωθησεται αυτη χρυσιον και υαλος και το αλλαγμα αυτης σκευη χρυσα
¹⁸ High and eminent things shall not be mentioned in comparison of it: but wisdom is drawn out of secret places.	¹⁸ μετεωρα και γαβις ου μνησθησεται και ελκυσον σοφιαν υπερ τα εσωτατα
¹⁹ The topaz of Ethiopia shall not be equal to it, neither shall it be compared to the cleanest dyeing.	¹⁹ ουκ ισωθησεται αυτη τοπαζιον αιθιοπιας χρυσιω καθαρω ου συμβασταχθησεται
²⁰ Whence then cometh wisdom? and where is the place of understanding?	²⁰ η δε σοφια ποθεν ευρεθη ποιος δε τοπος εστιν της συνεσεως
²¹ It is hid from the eyes of all living. and the fowls of the air know it not.	²¹ λεληθεν παντα ανθρωπον και απο πετεινων του ουρανου εκρυβη
²² Destruction and death have said: With our ears we have heard the fame thereof.	²² η απωλεια και ο θανατος ειπαν ακηκοαμεν δε αυτης το κλεος
²³ God understandeth the way of it, and he knoweth the place thereof.	²³ ο θεος ευ συνεστησεν αυτης την οδον αυτος δε οιδεν τον τοπον αυτης
²⁴ For he beholdeth the ends of the world: and looketh on all things that are under heaven.	²⁴ αυτος γαρ την υπ' ουρανον πασαν εφορα ειδως τα εν τη γη παντα α εποιησεν
²⁵ Who made a weight for the winds and weighed the waters by measure.	²⁵ ανεμων σταθμον υδατος τε μετρα
²⁶ When he gave a law for the rain, and a way for the sounding storms.	²⁶ οτε εποιησεν ουτως υετον ηριθμησεν και οδον εν τιναγματι φωνας
²⁷ Then he saw it, and declared, and prepared, and searched it.	²⁷ τοτε ειδεν αυτην και εξηγησατο αυτην ετοιμασας εξιχνιασεν
²⁸ And he said to man: Behold the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom: and to depart from evil, is understanding.	²⁸ ειπεν δε ανθρωπω ιδου η θεοσεβεια εστιν σοφια το δε απεχεσθαι απο κακων εστιν επιστημη
