1 And Eliseus said: Hear ye the word of the Lord: Thus saith the Lord: To morrow about this time a bushel of fine hour shall be sold for a stater, and two bushels of barley for a stater, in the gate of Samaria.	1 Eliseu disse: Ouvi a palavra do Senhor: Eis o que diz o Senhor: Amanhã, a esta hora, dar-se-á uma medida de flor de farinha por siclo, e por um siclo se darão duas medidas de cevada, à porta de Samaria.
2 Then one of the lords, upon whose hand the king leaned, answering the man of God, said: If the Lord should make hood-gates in heaven, can that possibly be which thou sayest? And he said: Thou shalt see it with thy eyes, but shalt not eat thereof.	2 Respondendo um dos capitães, a cujo braço o rei estava encostado, ao homem de Deus, disse: Quando o Senhor abrir janelas no céu, (para chover trigo) poderá acaso ser o que tu dizes? Eliseu respondeu: Tu o verás com os teus olhos, mas não comerás dele.
3 Now there were four lepers, at the entering in of the gate: and they said one to another: What mean we to stay here till we die?	3 Ora estavam quatro homens leprosos à entrada da porta, os quais disseram entre si: Para que estamos nós aqui até morrermos?
4 If we will enter into the city, we shall die with the famine: and if we will remain here, we must also die: come, therefore, and let us run over to the camp of the Syrians. If they spare us, we shall live: but if they kill us, we shall but die.	4 Se quisermos entrar na cidade, morreremos de fome; se ficarmos aqui, morreremos também. Vamo-nos, pois, e passemo-nos para o acampamento dos Sírios. Se eles se compadecerem de nós, viveremos; se nos quiserem matar, sem dúvida morreremos.
5 So they arose in the evening, to go to the Syrian camp, And when they were come to the first part of the camp of the Syrians, they found no man there.	5 Partiram, pois, ao anoitecer, para o acampamento dos Sírios, mas, tendo chegado à entrada do acampamento, não encontraram ali ninguém.
6 For the Lord had made them hear, in the camp of Syria, the noise of chariots, and of horses, and of a very great army, and they said one to another: Behold the king of Israel hath hired against us the kings of the Hethites, and of the Egyptians, and they are come upon us.	6 Com efeito, o Senhor tinha feito ouvir no campo dos Sírios um estrondo de carros, de cavalos e dum exército muito numeroso, de forma que os Sírios disseram entre si: Sem dúvida, o rei de Israel mandou assoldadar contra nós os reis dos Heteus e dos Egípcios, e ei-los aí vêm sobre nós.
7 Wherefore they arose, and fled away in the dark, and left their tents, and their horses and asses in the camp, and fled, desiring to save their lives.	7 Levantaram-se, pois, e fugiram de noite, deixando no acampamento as suas tendas, os seus cavalos e jumentos, e cuidando sòmente em salvar as suas vidas.
8 So when these lepers were come to the beginning of the camp, they went into one tent, and ate and drank: and they took from thence silver, and gold, and raiment, and went, and hid it: and they came again, and went into another tent, and carried from thence in like manner, and hid it.	8 Tendo, pois, chegado aqueles leprosos à entrada do acampamento, entraram numa barraca, comeram, beberam e levaram dali prata e ouro e roupas, que foram esconder; depois tornaram a outra barraca e esconderam também o que pilharam.
9 Then they said one to another: We do not well: for this is a day of good tidings. If we hold our peace, and do not tell it till the morning, we shall be charged with a crime: come, let us go and tell it in the king's court.	9 Então disseram um para o outro: Não fazemos bem, porque este é um dia de boa nova. Se nos calarmos e não quisermos avisar até amanhã, seremos arguidos de crime; vamos e levemos a nova à corte do rei.
10 So they came to the gate of the city, and told them, saying: We went to the camp of the Syrians, and we found no man there, but horses, and asses tied, and the tents standing.	10 Tendo chegado à porta da cidade, contaram o sucedido: Nós fomos ao campo dos Sírios e não encontramos lá homem algum, mas sòmente cavalos, jumentos presos, e as suas tendas armadas.
11 Then the guards of the gate went, and told it within the king's palace.	11 Foram os guardas da porta dar aviso aos de dentro do palácio do rei,
12 And he arose in the night and said to his servants: I tell you what the Syrians have done to us: They know that we suffer great famine, and therefore they are gone out of the camp, and lie hid in the fields, saying: When they come out of the city we shall take them alive, and then we may get into the city.	12 o qual se levantou de noite e disse aos seus oficiais: Eu vos direi o que fizeram os Sírios contra nós: Sabem que a fome nos aperta, e por isso saíram do seu arraial e esconderam-se pelos campos, dizendo: Logo que saírem da cidade, nós os apanharemos vivos, e então poderemos entrar na cidade.
13 And one of his servants answered: Let us take the five horses that are remaining in the city (because there are no more in the whole multitude of Israel, for the rest are consumed,) and let us send and see.	13 Mas um dos servos do rei respondeu: Tomem os os cinco cavalos, que ficaram na cidade (porque só estes restaram de tão grande número que havia em Israel, porque os outros foram consumidos) e, mandando estes, poderemos descobrir o que há.
14 They brought therefore two horses, and the king sent into the camp of the Syrians, saying: Go, and see.	14 Tomaram, pois, dois carros com os seus cavalos, e o rei mandou (gente) seguir os dos Sírios, dizendo: Ide e vede.
15 And they went after them as far as the Jordan: and behold all the way was full of garments, and vessels, which the Syrians had cast away in their fright, and the messengers returned end told the king.	15 Eles foram em busca dos Sírios, até ao Jordão, e acharam que todo o caminho estava cheio de vestes e de armas, que os Sírios tinham arrojado na sua precipitação. Os mensageiros, voltando, deram conta ao rei.
16 And the people going out pillaged the camp of the Syrians: and a bushel of fine flour was sold for a stater, and two bushels of barley for a stater, according to the word of the Lord.	16 Então o povo saiu e saqueou o acampamento dos Sírios. Uma medida de flor de farinha foi vendida por um siclo, e duas medidas de cevada por um siclo, conforme a palavra do Senhor.
17 And the king appointed that lord on whose hand he leaned, to stand at the gate: and the people trod upon him in the entrance of the gate; and he died, as the man of God had said, when the king came down to him.	17 Ora o rei pôs à porta (da cidade) aquele oficial, no braço do qual ele se apoiava, mas a multidão atropelou-o à entrada da porta, e morreu, conforme lhe tinha predito o homem de Deus, quando o rei foi ter com ele.
18 And it came to pass according to the word of the man of God, which he spoke to the king, when he said: Two bushels of barley shall be for a stater, and a bushel of fine flour for a stater, at this very time to morrow in the gate of Samaria.	18 (Tudo) aconteceu segundo a palavra que o homem de Deus tinha predito ao rei, quando lhe disse: Amanhã a esta mesma hora, à porta de Samaria, serão vendidas por um siclo duas medidas de cevada, e por um siclo uma medida de flor de farinha.
19 When that lord answered the mall of' God, and said: Although the Lord should make flood-gates in heaven, could this come to pass which thou sayest? And he said to him: Thou shalt see with thy eyes, and shalt not eat thereof.	19 Quando aquele oficial tinha respondido ao homem de Deus: Quando o Senhor abrir janelas no céu (para chover trigo), poderá acaso ser o que tu dizes?- - Eliseu replicou: Tu o verás com os teus olhos, mas não comerás dele.
20 And so it fell out to him as it was foretold, and the people trod upon him in the gate, and he died.	20 Como Eliseu lhe tinha predito, assim sucedeu: o povo o atropelou à porta, e ele morreu.
