| 1 OR avverrà che, dopo che tutte queste cose, la benedizione e la maledizione, le quali io ho poste davanti a te, saranno venute sopra te; e tu te le ridurrai a mente fra tutte le genti dove il Signore Iddio ti avrà sospinto; | 1 "And when all these things come upon you, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before you, and you call them to mind among all the nations where the LORD your God has driven you, |
| 2 e ti convertirai al Signore Iddio tuo, e ubbidirai alla sua voce, tu, e i tuoi figliuoli, con tutto il tuo cuore, e con tutta l’anima tua, interamente come io ti comando oggi; | 2 and return to the LORD your God, you and your children, and obey his voice in all that I command you this day, with all your heart and with all your soul; |
| 3 il Signore Iddio tuo altresì ti ricondurrà di cattività, e avrà pietà di te, e tornerà a raccoglierti d’infra tutti i popoli, fra’ quali il Signore Iddio tuo ti avrà disperso. | 3 then the LORD your God will restore your fortunes, and have compassion upon you, and he will gather you again from all the peoples where the LORD your God has scattered you. |
| 4 Avvegnachè tu fossi stato sospinto all’estremità del cielo, pure il Signore Iddio tuo ti raccoglierà di là, e ti prenderà di là. | 4 If your outcasts are in the uttermost parts of heaven, from there the LORD your God will gather you, and from there he will fetch you; |
| 5 E il Signore Iddio tuo ti condurrà nel paese, che i tuoi padri avranno posseduto, e tu lo possederai; ed egli ti farà del bene, e ti accrescerà più che i tuoi padri. | 5 and the LORD your God will bring you into the land which your fathers possessed, that you may possess it; and he will make you more prosperous and numerous than your fathers. |
| 6 E il Signore Iddio tuo circonciderà il tuo cuore, e il cuore della tua progenie; acciocchè tu ami il Signore Iddio tuo con tutto il tuo cuore, e con tutta l’anima tua, affinchè tu viva. | 6 And the LORD your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your offspring, so that you will love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul, that you may live. |
| 7 E il Signore Iddio tuo metterà tutte queste esecrazioni sopra i tuoi nemici, e sopra quelli che ti odieranno, i quali ti avranno perseguitato. | 7 And the LORD your God will put all these curses upon your foes and enemies who persecuted you. |
| 8 Così, quando tu ti sarai convertito, e ubbidirai alla voce del Signore, e metterai in opera tutti i suoi comandamenti, i quali oggi ti do, | 8 And you shall again obey the voice of the LORD, and keep all his commandments which I command you this day. |
| 9 il Signore Iddio tuo ti farà abbondare in beni, in ogni opera delle tue mani, nel frutto del tuo seno, e nel frutto del tuo bestiame, e nel frutto della tua terra; perciocchè il Signore tornerà a rallegrarsi in te a bene, come si rallegrò ne’ tuoi padri. | 9 The LORD your God will make you abundantly prosperous in all the work of your hand, in the fruit of your body, and in the fruit of your cattle, and in the fruit of your ground; for the LORD will again take delight in prospering you, as he took delight in your fathers, |
| 10 Perciocchè tu ubbidirai alla voce del Signore Iddio tuo, per osservare i suoi comandamenti, e i suoi statuti, scritti in questo Libro della Legge; dopo che tu ti sarai convertito al Signore Iddio tuo con tutto il tuo cuore, e con tutta l’anima tua | 10 if you obey the voice of the LORD your God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which are written in this book of the law, if you turn to the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul. |
| 11 Conciossiachè questo comandamento, ch’io ti do oggi, non sia tanto alto che tu nol possa comprendere; e anche non è lontano. | 11 "For this commandment which I command you this day is not too hard for you, neither is it far off. |
| 12 Egli non è nel cielo, perchè tu dica: Chi salirà per noi al cielo, e ce lo recherà, e ce lo farà intendere, acciocchè lo mettiamo in opera? | 12 It is not in heaven, that you should say, 'Who will go up for us to heaven, and bring it to us, that we may hear it and do it?' |
| 13 Parimente non è oltre mare, perchè tu dica: Chi passerà oltre mare per noi, e ce lo recherà, e ce lo farà intendere, acciocchè lo mettiamo in opera? | 13 Neither is it beyond the sea, that you should say, 'Who will go over the sea for us, and bring it to us, that we may hear it and do it?' |
| 14 Anzi questa parola è molto vicina a te; ella è nella tua bocca e nel tuo cuore, per metterla in opera | 14 But the word is very near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart, so that you can do it. |
| 15 Vedi, io pongo oggi davanti a te la vita e il bene; e la morte e il male. | 15 "See, I have set before you this day life and good, death and evil. |
| 16 Conciossiachè io ti comandi oggi di amare il Signore Iddio tuo, di camminar nelle sue vie, e di osservare i suoi comandamenti, e i suoi statuti, e le sue leggi; acciocchè tu viva, e cresca; e che il Signore Iddio tuo ti benedica, nel paese dove tu entri per possederlo. | 16 If you obey the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you this day, by loving the LORD your God, by walking in his ways, and by keeping his commandments and his statutes and his ordinances, then you shall live and multiply, and the LORD your God will bless you in the land which you are entering to take possession of it. |
| 17 Ma, se il cuor tuo si rivolge indietro, e se tu non ubbidisci, anzi sei sospinto ad adorare altri dii, e servir loro, | 17 But if your heart turns away, and you will not hear, but are drawn away to worship other gods and serve them, |
| 18 io vi annunzio oggi che del tutto perirete, e che non prolungherete i vostri giorni sopra la terra, per entrar nella quale, e per possederla, voi passate il Giordano. | 18 I declare to you this day, that you shall perish; you shall not live long in the land which you are going over the Jordan to enter and possess. |
| 19 Io prendo oggi in testimonio contr’a voi il cielo e la terra, ch’io ho posta davanti a voi la vita e la morte; la benedizione e la maledizione; eleggete adunque la vita, acciocchè tu viva, tu, e la tua progenie; | 19 I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse; therefore choose life, that you and your descendants may live, |
| 20 amando il Signore Iddio tuo, ubbidendo alla sua voce, e attenendovi a lui conciossiachè egli sia la tua vita, e la lunghezza de’ tuoi giorni; per abitare in su la terra, della quale il Signore Iddio vostro giurò a’ tuoi padri, ad Abrahamo, ad Isacco, e a Giacobbe, ch’egli la darebbe loro | 20 loving the LORD your God, obeying his voice, and cleaving to him; for that means life to you and length of days, that you may dwell in the land which the LORD swore to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them." |
