| 1 POI la parola del Signore mi fu indirizzata, dicendo: | 1 The word of the LORD came to me: |
| 2 Non prenderti moglie, e non aver figliuoli, nè figliuole, in questo luogo. | 2 "You shall not take a wife, nor shall you have sons or daughters in this place. |
| 3 Perciocchè, così ha detto il Signore intorno a’ figliuoli, ed alle figliuole, che nasceranno in questo luogo, ed alle madri che li avranno partoriti, ed a’ padri che li avranno generati in questo paese: | 3 For thus says the LORD concerning the sons and daughters who are born in this place, and concerning the mothers who bore them and the fathers who begot them in this land: |
| 4 Morranno di morti dolorose; non se ne farà cordoglio, e non saranno seppelliti; saranno per letame in su la faccia della terra, e saranno consumati per la spada, e per la fame; ed i lor corpi morti saranno per pasto agli uccelli del cielo, ed alle bestie della terra. | 4 They shall die of deadly diseases. They shall not be lamented, nor shall they be buried; they shall be as dung on the surface of the ground. They shall perish by the sword and by famine, and their dead bodies shall be food for the birds of the air and for the beasts of the earth. |
| 5 Perciocchè, così ha detto il Signore: Non entrare in alcuna casa di convito funerale, e non andar per far cordoglio, e non condolerti con loro; perciocchè io ho ritratta la mia pace da questo popolo, dice il Signore, e la mia benignità, e le mie compassioni. | 5 "For thus says the LORD: Do not enter the house of mourning, or go to lament, or bemoan them; for I have taken away my peace from this people, says the LORD, my steadfast love and mercy. |
| 6 E grandi e piccoli morranno in questo paese, senza esser seppelliti; e non si farà cordoglio per loro, e niuno si farà tagliature addosso, nè si raderà per loro; | 6 Both great and small shall die in this land; they shall not be buried, and no one shall lament for them or cut himself or make himself bald for them. |
| 7 e non si spartirà loro pane per lo duolo, per consolarli del morto; e non si darà loro a bere la coppa delle consolazioni per padre, nè per madre di alcuno. | 7 No one shall break bread for the mourner, to comfort him for the dead; nor shall any one give him the cup of consolation to drink for his father or his mother. |
| 8 Parimente non entrare in alcuna casa di convito, per seder con loro, per mangiare e per bere. | 8 You shall not go into the house of feasting to sit with them, to eat and drink. |
| 9 Perciocchè, così ha detto il Signor degli eserciti, l’Iddio d’Israele: Ecco, io fo cessare in questo luogo, davanti agli occhi vostri, e a’ dì vostri, la voce di gioia, e la voce di allegrezza, la voce dello sposo, e la voce della sposa | 9 For thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I will make to cease from this place, before your eyes and in your days, the voice of mirth and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride. |
| 10 Or avverrà, quando tu avrai annunziate tutte queste parole a questo popolo, ch’essi ti diranno: Perchè ha il Signore pronunziato contro a noi tutto questo gran male? e quale è la nostra iniquità, e quale è il nostro peccato, che noi abbiamo commesso contro al Signore Iddio nostro? | 10 "And when you tell this people all these words, and they say to you, 'Why has the LORD pronounced all this great evil against us? What is our iniquity? What is the sin that we have committed against the LORD our God?' |
| 11 E tu dirai loro: Perciocchè i vostri padri mi hanno lasciato, dice il Signore; e sono iti dietro ad altri dii, e li hanno serviti, ed adorati; ed hanno abbandonato me, e non hanno osservata la mia Legge. | 11 then you shall say to them: 'Because your fathers have forsaken me, says the LORD, and have gone after other gods and have served and worshiped them, and have forsaken me and have not kept my law, |
| 12 E voi avete fatto vie peggio che i vostri padri; ed ecco, ciascun di voi va dietro alla durezza del cuor suo malvagio, per non ascoltarmi. | 12 and because you have done worse than your fathers, for behold, every one of you follows his stubborn evil will, refusing to listen to me; |
| 13 Perciò, io vi caccerò fuor di questo paese, in un paese che nè voi, nè i vostri padri, non avete conosciuto; e quivi servirete giorno e notte, ad altri dii; perciocchè io non vi farò grazia | 13 therefore I will hurl you out of this land into a land which neither you nor your fathers have known, and there you shall serve other gods day and night, for I will show you no favor.' |
| 14 Ma pure, ecco, i giorni vengono, dice il Signore, che non si dirà più: Il Signor vive, il quale ha tratti i figliuoli d’Israele fuor del paese di Egitto; | 14 "Therefore, behold, the days are coming, says the LORD, when it shall no longer be said, 'As the LORD lives who brought up the people of Israel out of the land of Egypt,' |
| 15 ma: Il Signore vive, che ha tratti i figliuoli d’Israele fuor del paese di Settentrione, e di tutti gli altri paesi, ne’ quali egli li avea scacciati; ed io li ricondurrò alla lor terra, che io diedi a’ padri loro. | 15 but 'As the LORD lives who brought up the people of Israel out of the north country and out of all the countries where he had driven them.' For I will bring them back to their own land which I gave to their fathers. |
| 16 Ecco, io mando a molti pescatori, che li peschino, dice il Signore; e dopo ciò, a molti cacciatori che li caccino sopra ogni monte, e sopra ogni colle, e nelle buche de’ sassi. | 16 "Behold, I am sending for many fishers, says the LORD, and they shall catch them; and afterwards I will send for many hunters, and they shall hunt them from every mountain and every hill, and out of the clefts of the rocks. |
| 17 Perciocchè gli occhi miei son sopra tutte le lor vie; quelle non son nascoste dal mio cospetto, e la loro iniquità non è occulta d’innanzi agli occhi miei. | 17 For my eyes are upon all their ways; they are not hid from me, nor is their iniquity concealed from my eyes. |
| 18 E imprima renderò loro al doppio la retribuzione della loro iniquità, e del lor peccato; perciocchè han contaminato il mio paese ed hanno empiuta la mia eredità dei carcami delle lor cose esecrabili, e delle loro abbominazioni. | 18 And I will doubly recompense their iniquity and their sin, because they have polluted my land with the carcasses of their detestable idols, and have filled my inheritance with their abominations." |
| 19 O Signore, mia forza, e mia fortezza, e mio rifugio nel giorno della distretta, le genti verranno a te dalle estremità della terra, e diranno: Veramente i padri nostri hanno posseduta falsità, vanità, e cose nelle quali non era alcun giovamento. | 19 O LORD, my strength and my stronghold, my refuge in the day of trouble, to thee shall the nations come from the ends of the earth and say: "Our fathers have inherited nought but lies, worthless things in which there is no profit. |
| 20 Farebbesi l’uomo degl’iddii, i quali però non son dii? | 20 Can man make for himself gods? Such are no gods!" |
| 21 Per tanto, ecco io farò lor conoscere questa volta, io farò lor conoscere la mia mano, e la mia forza; e sapranno che il mio Nome è: Il Signore | 21 "Therefore, behold, I will make them know, this once I will make them know my power and my might, and they shall know that my name is the LORD." |
