| 1 GRIDA con la gola, non rattenerti: alza la tua voce a guisa di tromba, e dichiara al mio popolo i suoi misfatti, ed alla casa di Giacobbe i suoi peccati. | 1 "Cry aloud, spare not, lift up your voice like a trumpet; declare to my people their transgression, to the house of Jacob their sins. |
| 2 Ben mi cercano ogni giorno, e prendono piacere di saper le mie vie, a guisa di gente che si adoperi a giustizia, e non abbia lasciata la Legge dell’Iddio suo; mi domandano de’ giudicii di giustizia, prendono piacere di accostarsi a Dio | 2 Yet they seek me daily, and delight to know my ways, as if they were a nation that did righteousness and did not forsake the ordinance of their God; they ask of me righteous judgments, they delight to draw near to God. |
| 3 Poi dicono: Perchè abbiamo digiunato e tu non vi hai avuto riguardo? perchè abbiamo afflitte le anime nostre, e tu non vi hai posta mente? Ecco nel giorno del vostro digiuno, voi trovate del diletto, e riscotete tutte le vostre rendite. | 3 'Why have we fasted, and thou seest it not? Why have we humbled ourselves, and thou takest no knowledge of it?' Behold, in the day of your fast you seek your own pleasure, and oppress all your workers. |
| 4 Ecco, voi digiunate a liti, ed a contese, e per percuotere empiamente col pugno; non digiunate più come fate oggi, se voi volete che la vostra voce sia esaudita da alto. | 4 Behold, you fast only to quarrel and to fight and to hit with wicked fist. Fasting like yours this day will not make your voice to be heard on high. |
| 5 Il digiuno che io approvo, e il giorno che l’uomo deve affliggere l’anima sua è egli tale? nominerai tu questo digiuno, e giorno accettevole al Signore, che l’uomo chini il capo come un giunco, e si corichi nel cilicio, e nella cenere? | 5 Is such the fast that I choose, a day for a man to humble himself? Is it to bow down his head like a rush, and to spread sackcloth and ashes under him? Will you call this a fast, and a day acceptable to the LORD? |
| 6 Non è questo il digiuno che io approvo: che si sciolgano i legami di empietà, che si sleghino i fasci del giogo, e che si lascino andar franchi quelli che son fiaccati, e che voi rompiate ogni giogo? | 6 "Is not this the fast that I choose: to loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the thongs of the yoke, to let the oppressed go free, and to break every yoke? |
| 7 E che tu rompi il tuo pane a chi ha fame, e che tu raccolga in casa i poveri erranti; che quando tu vedi alcuno ignudo, tu lo copri, e non ti nascondi dalla tua carne? | 7 Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, and bring the homeless poor into your house; when you see the naked, to cover him, and not to hide yourself from your own flesh? |
| 8 Allora la tua luce spunterà fuori come l’alba, e il tuo ristoro germoglierà subitamente; e la tua giustizia andrà davanti a te, e la gloria del Signore sarà la tua retroguardia. | 8 Then shall your light break forth like the dawn, and your healing shall spring up speedily; your righteousness shall go before you, the glory of the LORD shall be your rear guard. |
| 9 Allora tu invocherai, e il Signore ti risponderà, e dirà: Eccomi. Se tu togli del mezzo di te il giogo, l’alzare il dito, e il parlare iniquità; | 9 Then you shall call, and the LORD will answer; you shall cry, and he will say, Here I am. "If you take away from the midst of you the yoke, the pointing of the finger, and speaking wickedness, |
| 10 ed apri l’anima tua a colui che ha fame, e sazii la persona afflitta; la tua luce si leverà nelle tenebre, e la tua oscurità sarà come il mezzodì. | 10 if you pour yourself out for the hungry and satisfy the desire of the afflicted, then shall your light rise in the darkness and your gloom be as the noonday. |
| 11 Ed il Signore ti condurrà del continuo, e sazierà l’anima tua nell’arsure, ed empierà di midolla le tue ossa; e tu sarai come un orto adacquato, e come una fonte d’acqua, la cui acqua non fallisce. | 11 And the LORD will guide you continually, and satisfy your desire with good things, and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters fail not. |
| 12 E quelli che usciranno di te riedificheranno i luoghi già ab antico deserti; tu ridirizzerai i fondamenti di molte età addietro; e sarai chiamato: Ristorator delle ruine, Racconciator de’ sentieri, da potere abitare | 12 And your ancient ruins shall be rebuilt; you shall raise up the foundations of many generations; you shall be called the repairer of the breach, the restorer of streets to dwell in. |
| 13 Se tu ritrai il tuo piè, per non far le tue volontà nel sabato, nel mio giorno santo; e se tu chiami il sabato delizie, e quello ch’è santo al Signore onorevole; e se tu l’onori senza operar secondo le tue vie, senza ritrovar le tue volontà, e senza dir parola; | 13 "If you turn back your foot from the sabbath, from doing your pleasure on my holy day, and call the sabbath a delight and the holy day of the LORD honorable; if you honor it, not going your own ways, or seeking your own pleasure, or talking idly; |
| 14 allora tu prenderai i tuoi diletti nel Signore, ed io ti farò cavalcare sopra gli alti luoghi della terra; e ti darò mangiare l’eredità di Giacobbe, tuo padre; perciocchè la bocca del Signore ha parlato | 14 then you shall take delight in the LORD, and I will make you ride upon the heights of the earth; I will feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father, for the mouth of the LORD has spoken." |
