1 «Yo soy la verdadera vid y mi Padre es el viñador.	1 "I am the true vine, and my Father is the vine grower.
2 El corta todos mis sarmientos que no dan fruto; al que da fruto, lo poda para que dé más todavía.	2 He takes away every branch in me that does not bear fruit, and everyone that does he prunes so that it bears more fruit.
3 Ustedes ya están limpios por la palabra que yo les anuncié.	3 You are already pruned because of the word that I spoke to you.
4 Permanezcan en mí, como yo permanezco en ustedes. Así como el sarmiento no puede dar fruto si no permanece en la vid, tampoco ustedes, si no permanecen en mí.	4 Remain in me, as I remain in you. Just as a branch cannot bear fruit on its own unless it remains on the vine, so neither can you unless you remain in me.
5 Yo soy la vid, ustedes los sarmientos El que permanece en mí, y yo en él, da mucho fruto, porque separados de mí, nada pueden hacer.	5 I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever remains in me and I in him will bear much fruit, because without me you can do nothing.
6 Pero el que no permanece en mí, es como el sarmiento que se tira y se seca; después se recoge, se arroja al fuego y arde.	6 Anyone who does not remain in me will be thrown out like a branch and wither; people will gather them and throw them into a fire and they will be burned.
7 Si ustedes permanecen en mí y mis palabras permanecen en ustedes, pidan lo que quieran y lo obtendrán.	7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask for whatever you want and it will be done for you.
8 La gloria de mi Padre consiste en que ustedes den fruto abundante, y así sean mis discípulos.	8 By this is my Father glorified, that you bear much fruit and become my disciples.
9 Como el Padre me amó, también yo los he amado a ustedes. Permanezcan en mi amor.	9 As the Father loves me, so I also love you. Remain in my love.
10 Si cumplen mis mandamientos, permanecerán en mi amor. como yo cumplí los mandamientos de mi Padre y permanezco en su amor.	10 If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and remain in his love.
11 Les he dicho esto para que mi gozo sea el de ustedes, y ese gozo sea perfecto.	11 "I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and your joy may be complete.
12 Este es mi mandamiento: Amense los unos a los otros, como yo los he amado.	12 This is my commandment: love one another as I love you.
13 No hay amor más grande que dar la vida por los amigos.	13 No one has greater love than this, to lay down one's life for one's friends.
14 Ustedes son mis amigos si hacen lo que yo les mando.	14 You are my friends if you do what I command you.
15 Ya no los llamo servidores, porque el servidor ignora lo que hace su señor; yo los llamo amigos, porque les he dado a conocer todo lo que oí de mi Padre.	15 I no longer call you slaves, because a slave does not know what his master is doing. I have called you friends, because I have told you everything I have heard from my Father.
16 No son ustedes los que me eligieron a mí, sino yo el que los elegí a ustedes, y los destiné para que vayan y den fruto, y ese fruto sea duradero. Así todo lo que pidan al Padre en mi Nombre, él se lo concederá.	16 It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit that will remain, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name he may give you.
17 Lo que yo les mando es que se amen los unos a los otros.	17 This I command you: love one another.
18 Si el mundo los odia, sepan que antes me ha odiado a mí.	18 "If the world hates you, realize that it hated me first.
19 Si ustedes fueran del mundo, el mundo los amaría como cosa suya. Pero como no son del mundo, sino que yo los elegí y los saqué de él, él mundo los odia.	19 If you belonged to the world, the world would love its own; but because you do not belong to the world, and I have chosen you out of the world, the world hates you.
20 Acuérdense de lo que les dije: el servidor no es más grande que su señor. Si me persiguieron a mí, también los perseguirán a ustedes; si fueron fieles a mi palabra, también serán fieles a la de ustedes.	20 Remember the word I spoke to you, 'No slave is greater than his master.' If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours.
21 Pero los tratarán así a causa de mi Nombre, porque no conocen al que me envió.	21 And they will do all these things to you on account of my name, because they do not know the one who sent me.
22 Si yo hubiera venido ni les hubiera hablado, no tendrían pecado; pero ahora su pecado no tiene disculpa.	22 If I had not come and spoken to them, they would have no sin; but as it is they have no excuse for their sin.
23 El que me odia, odia también a mi Padre.	23 Whoever hates me also hates my Father.
24 Si yo no hubiera hecho entre ellos obras que ningún otro realizó, no tendrían pecado. Pero ahora las han visto, y sin embargo, me odian a mí y a mi Padre,	24 If I had not done works among them that no one else ever did, they would not have sin; but as it is, they have seen and hated both me and my Father.
25 para que se cumpla lo que está escrito en la Ley: Me han odiado sin motivo.	25 But in order that the word written in their law might be fulfilled, 'They hated me without cause.'
26 Cuando venga el Paráclito que yo les enviaré desde el Padre, el Espíritu de la Verdad que proviene del Padre, él dará testimonio de mí.	26 "When the Advocate comes whom I will send you from the Father, the Spirit of truth that proceeds from the Father, he will testify to me.
27 Y ustedes también dan testimonio, porque están conmigo desde el principio».	27 And you also testify, because you have been with me from the beginning.
