Seconda Epistola di Santo Paulo alli Corinti 6

BIBBIA VOLGARE	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Preghiamovi e confortiamo, che non riceviate la grazia di Dio invano.	1 As his fel ow-workers, we urge you not to let your acceptance of his grace come to nothing.
2 Onde egli [dice]: nel tempo accettabile (e piacevole) io intesi le tue preghiere, e nel dì della salute aiutai te; ecco ora il tempo accettabile; questi son li di della salute.	2 As he said, 'At the time of my favour I have answered you; on the day of salvation I have helped you';wel , now is the real time of favour, now the day of salvation is here.
3 Non diate ad alcuno niuna offensione (o cagione di peccare), chè non sia vituperato il nostro servigio.	3 We avoid putting obstacles in anyone's way, so that no blame may attach to our work of service;
4 Ma in tutte le cose (facciamo e) mostriamo noi medesimi, secondo che servi di Dio, abiendo pazienza nelle tribulazioni, nelle necessità e nelle angoscie,	4 but in everything we prove ourselves authentic servants of God; by resolute perseverance in times ofhardships, difficulties and distress;
5 nelle battiture, nelle pregioni, nelle sedizioni, nelle fatiche, nel vigilare e nelli digiuni,	5 when we are flogged or sent to prison or mobbed; labouring, sleepless, starving;
6 (dimorando) in castità, nella scienza, in lunga sofferenza, in soavità, nel Spirito Santo, in carità non finta,	6 in purity, in knowledge, in patience, in kindness; in the Holy Spirit, in a love free of affectation;
7 e nella parola di verità e nella virtù di Dio, (andando armati) con arme di giustizia dal lato ritto e manco;	7 in the word of truth and in the power of God; by using the weapons of uprightness for attack and fordefence:
8 (ancor passando) per li onori e per li disonori, e per il biasmo e per la buona fama; essendo tenuti ingannatori, e voi essendo veraci; e secondo che non cognosciuti, e voi essendo cognosciuti;	8 in times of honour or disgrace, blame or praise; taken for impostors and yet we are genuine;
9 e secondo che morti, ed ecco che viviamo; secondo che castigati, e non mortificati;	9 unknown and yet we are acknowledged; dying, and yet here we are, alive; scourged but not executed;
10 e secondo che (crucciati) e tristi, e sempre essendo rallegranti; secondo che poveri, e molti n' arricchiamo; e secondo che li uomini che non hanno niente, e possediamo tutte le cose.	10 in pain yet always ful of joy; poor and yet making many people rich; having nothing, and yet owningeverything.
11 La nostra bocca è manifesta a voi, o Corinti; il nostro cuore è dilatato (e disteso a voi).	11 People of Corinth, we have spoken frankly and opened our heart to you.
12 Non vi angosciate in noi; ma angosciatevi nelle vostre interiora.	12 Any distress you feel is not on our side; the distress is in your own selves.
13 Voi che avete quella medesima rimunerazione, dico a voi, secondo che a figliuoli: distendetevi.	13 In fair exchange -- I speak as though to children of mine -- you must open your hearts too.
14 E non vogliate portare giogo con coloro che non son fedeli; imperò che la partecipazione della giustizia non sta con la iniquità. Che compagnia è della luce colle tenebre?	14 Do not harness yourselves in an uneven team with unbelievers; how can uprightness and law-breaking be partners, or what can light and darkness have in common?
15 E che patto puote essere da Cristo al demonio? Ovver che parte ha il fedele con colui che non è fedele?	15 How can Christ come to an agreement with Beliar and what sharing can there be between a believerand an unbeliever?
16 Ovver che consentimento può essere dal tempio di Dio alli idoli? Chè voi siete tempio di Dio vivo, sì come dice il Signore: io abitarò con loro, e andarò intra loro, e sarò il loro Iddio, ed elli saranno mio popolo.	16 The temple of God cannot compromise with false gods, and that is what we are -- the temple of theliving God. We have God's word for it: I shall fix my home among them and live among them; I will be their Godand they wil be my people.
17 Per la quale cosa uscite di mezzo di loro, dice il Signore, e non toccate le cose sozze.	17 Get away from them, purify yourselves, says the Lord. Do not touch anything unclean, and then I shallwelcome you.
18 E io riceverò voi, e starò per vostro padre, e voi starete per miei figliuoli e figliuole, dice il Signore onnipotente.	18 I shal be father to you, and you will be sons and daughters to me, says the almighty Lord.
