Salmi 2

1 Per che cagione le genti con furore d' animo irate gridarono, e li popoli perchè pensarono le cose vane?	1 Why do the nations protest and the peoples grumble in vain?
2 I re delle terre si fermorono, e li prìncipi si raunarono insieme contro al Signore e contro al suo Cristo.	2 Kings on earth rise up and princes plot together against the LORD and his anointed:
3 Dirompiamo i loro legami, e gittiamo da noi il giogo loro.	3 "Let us break their shackles and cast off their chains!"
4 Quello il quale abita nel cielo sì li schernirà; e il nostro Signore sì ghignerà di loro.	4 The one enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord derides them,
5 Allora parlerà a loro nella sua ira, e nel suo furore conturberà loro.	5 Then speaks to them in anger, terrifies them in wrath:
6 E io sono stabilito re da lui sopra Sion monte santo suo, predicando il suo comandamento.	6 "I myself have installed my king on Zion, my holy mountain."
7 Il Signore disse a me: tu sei il mio figliuolo, io oggi t'ho generato.	7 I will proclaim the decree of the LORD, who said to me, "You are my son; today I am your father.
8 Addomanda a me, e io ti darò genti per la tua eredità, e li termini della terra in possessione tua.	8 Only ask it of me, and I will make your inheritance the nations, your possession the ends of the earth.
9 Tu reggerai loro in verga ferrea; sì come vaso di terra, fatto per mano del figolaio, spezzerai loro.	9 With an iron rod you shall shepherd them, like a clay pot you will shatter them."
10 E, voi re, ora intendete; fatevi ammaestrare, voi che giudicate la terra.	10 And now, kings, give heed; take warning, rulers on earth.
11 E servite al nostro Signore in timore; e rallegratevi a lui con tremore.	11 Serve the LORD with fear; with trembling bow down in homage, Lest God be angry and you perish from the way in a sudden blaze of anger. Happy are all who take refuge in God!
12 Apprendete la disciplina, chè per avventura Iddio non s'adiri, e periate della via giusta.
13 Quando uscirà fuori in breve tempo l'ira sua, beati tutti coloro che si confidano in lui.
