BIBBIA VOLGARE	NEW AMERICAN BIBLE
1 Rispose Iob, e disse:	1 Then Job spoke again and said:
2 Di chi se' tu posto in adiutorio? or (perchè) alli miseri? e sostenti lo braccio (loro) a colui che non è forte?	2 What help you give to the powerless, what strength to the feeble arm!
3 A chi desti lo consiglio? forse che a colui che non ha sapienza, e la providenza tua hai dimostrato esser molta.	3 How you counsel, as though he had no wisdom; how profuse is the advice you offer!
4 Chi volesti ammaestrare? Forse colui che fece la vita?	4 With whose help have you uttered those words, and whose is the breath that comes forth from you?
5 Ecco li giganti piagnono sotto le acque, e coloro che àbitano con loro.	5 The shades beneath writhe in terror, the waters, and their inhabitants.
6 Ignudo è l' inferno dinanzi a lui, e niuno coprimento è alla perdizione.	6 Naked before him is the nether world, and Abaddon has no covering.
7 Il quale estende lo vento aquilonare sopra lo vôto, e appicca la terra sopra nulla.	7 He stretches out the North over empty space, and suspends the earth over nothing at all;
8 Il quale lega l'acque sopra i nuvoli, accid che non rompano parimente (da ogni parte e vengano) di sotto.	8 He binds up the waters in his clouds, yet the cloud is not rent by their weight;
9 Il quale tiene lo volto del suo trono, e spande sopra quello la sua nebbia.	9 He holds back the appearance of the full moon by spreading his clouds before it.
10 Intorniò lo termine colle acque, insino che finiscano la luce e le tenebre.	10 He has marked out a circle on the surface of the deep as the boundary of light and darkness.
11 Le colonne del cielo tremono, e spaventaronsi alla sua volontade.	11 The pillars of the heavens tremble and are stunned at his thunderous rebuke;
12 Nella fortezza sua repentemente li mari sono raunati, e la sua prudenza percosse lo superbo.	12 By his power he stirs up the sea, and by his might he crushes Rahab;
13 Lo spirito suo ornò li (suoi) cieli; e suavemente conducendo, la sua mano tradusse lo serpente tortuoso.	13 With his angry breath he scatters the waters, and he hurls the lightning against them relentlessly; His hand pierces the fugitive dragon as from his hand it strives to flee.
14 Ecco, queste cose dette sono dalla parte delle sue vie; e conciosiacosa che a pena una piccola stilla del suo sermone abbiamo udita, chi potrà riguardare allo tuono della sua grandezza?	14 Lo, these are but the outlines of his ways, and how faint is the word we hear!
