1 All things have their time, and all things under heaven continue during their interval.	1 Toutes choses ont leur temps, et tout passe sous le ciel dans les délais qui lui ont été fixés.
2 A time to be born, and a time to die. A time to plant, and a time to pull up what was planted.	2 Il y a un temps pour naître, et un temps pour mourir; un temps pour planter, et un temps pour arracher ce qui a été planté.
3 A time to kill, and a time to heal. A time to tear down, and a time to build up.	3 Il y a un temps pour tuer, et un temps pour guérir; un temps pour abattre, et un temps pour bâtir.
4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh. A time to mourn, and a time to dance.	4 Il y a un temps pour pleurer, et un temps pour rire; un temps pour s'affliger, et un temps pour danser.
5 A time to scatter stones, and a time to gather. A time to embrace, and a time to be far from embraces.	5 Il y a un temps pour jeter des pierres, et un temps pour les ramasser; un temps pour embrasser, et un temps pous s'éloigner des embrassements.
6 A time to gain, and a time to lose. A time to keep, and a time to cast away.	6 Il y a un temps pour acquérir, et un temps pour perdre; un temps pour conserver, et un temps pour rejeter.
7 A time to rend, and a time to sew. A time to be silent, and a time to speak.	7 Il y a un temps pour déchirer, et un temps pour coudre; un temps pour se taire, et un temps pour parler.
8 A time of love, and a time of hatred. A time of war, and a time of peace.	8 Il y a un temps pour aimer, et un temps pour haïr; un temps pour la guerre, et un temps pour la paix.
9 What more does a man have from his labor?	9 Quel profit l'homme a-t-il de tout son travail?
10 I have seen the affliction that God has given to the sons of men, in order that they may be occupied by it.	10 J'ai vu l'affliction que Dieu a donnée aux fils des hommes, pour qu'ils soient tourmentés par elle.
11 He has made all things good in their time, and he has handed over the world to their disputes, so that man may not discover the work which God made from the beginning, even until the end.	11 Il a fait toutes choses bonnes en leur temps, et Il a livré le monde à leurs disputes, sans que l'homme puisse découvrir l'oeuvre que Dieu a faite depuis le commencement jusqu'à la fin.
12 And I realize that there is nothing better than to rejoice, and to do well in this life.	12 Et j'ai reconnu qu'il n'y a rien de meilleur que de se réjouir et de bien faire pendant sa vie;
13 For this is a gift from God: when each man eats and drinks, and sees the good results of his labor.	13 car tout homme qui mange et qui boit, et qui retire du bien de son travail, a cela par un don de Dieu.
14 I have learned that all the works which God has made continue on, in perpetuity. We are not able to add anything, nor to take anything away, from those things which God has made in order that he may be feared.	14 J'ai appris que toutes les oeuvres que Dieu a créées demeurent à perpétuité; nous ne pouvons rien y ajouter, ni rien retrancher à ce que Dieu a fait afin qu'on Le craigne.
15 What has been made, the same continues. What is in the future, has already existed. And God restores what has passed away.	15 Ce qui a été subsiste encore; ce qui doit être a déjà été, et Dieu ramène ce qui est passé.
16 I saw under the sun: instead of judgment, impiety, and instead of justice, iniquity.	16 J'ai vu sous le soleil l'impiété dans le lieu établi pour le jugement, et l'iniquité dans le lieu de la justice;
17 And I said in my heart: “God will judge the just and the impious, and then the time for each matter shall be.”	17 et j'ai dit en mon coeur: Dieu jugera le juste et l'injuste; et alors ce sera le temps de toute chose.
18 I said in my heart, about the sons of men, that God would test them, and reveal them to be like wild animals.	18 J'ai dit en mon coeur touchant les fils des hommes, que Dieu les éprouve, et qu'Il montre qu'ils sont semblables aux bêtes.
19 For this reason, the passing away of man and of beasts is one, and the condition of both is equal. For as a man dies, so also do they die. All things breathe similarly, and man has nothing more than beast; for all these are subject to vanity.	19 C'est pourquoi les hommes meurent comme les bêtes, et ils ont les uns et les autres un même sort. Comme l'homme meurt, ainsi meurent les bêtes. Ils respirent tous de la même manière, et l'homme n'a rien de plus que la bête; tout est soumis à la vanité,
20 And all things continue on to one place; for from the earth they were made, and unto the earth they shall return together.	20 et tout va dans un même lieu. Ils ont été tirés de la terre, et ils retournent tous dans la terre.
21 Who knows if the spirit of the sons of Adam ascend upward, and if the spirit of the beasts descend downward?	21 Qui sait si le souffle des fils de l'homme monte en haut, et si le souffle des bêtes descend en bas?
22 And I have discovered nothing to be better than for a man to rejoice in his work: for this is his portion. And who shall add to him, so that he may know the things that will occur after him?	22 Et j'ai reconnu qu'il n'y a rien de meilleur pour l'homme que de se réjouir dans ses oeuvres, et que c'est là sa part. Car qui le mettra en état de connaître ce qui doit arriver après lui?
