1 John 1

NEW JERUSALEM	Peshitta
1 Something which has existed since the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with ourown eyes, which we have watched and touched with our own hands, the Word of life -- this is our theme.	1 ܡܤܒܪܝܢܢ ܠܟܘܢ ܠܗܘ ܕܐܝܬܘܗܝ ܗܘܐ ܡܢ ܒܪܫܝܬ ܗܘ ܕܫܡܥܢ ܘܚܙܝܢܝܗܝ ܒܥܝܢܝܢ ܚܙܝܢ ܘܓܫܢ ܒܐܝܕܝܢ ܗܘ ܕܐܝܬܘܗܝ ܡܠܬܐ ܕܚܝܐ ܀
2 That life was made visible; we saw it and are giving our testimony, declaring to you the eternal life,which was present to the Father and has been revealed to us.	2 ܘܚܝܐ ܐܬܓܠܝܘ ܘܚܙܝܢ ܘܤܗܕܝܢܢ ܘܡܟܪܙܝܢܢ ܠܟܘܢ ܚܝܐ ܕܠܥܠܡ ܗܢܘܢ ܕܐܝܬܝܗܘܢ ܗܘܘ ܠܘܬ ܐܒܐ ܘܐܬܓܠܝܘ ܠܢ ܀
3 We are declaring to you what we have seen and heard, so that you too may share our life. Our life isshared with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ.	3 ܘܡܕܡ ܕܚܙܝܢ ܘܫܡܥܢ ܡܘܕܥܝܢܢ ܐܦ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܬܗܘܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܫܘܬܦܘܬܐ ܥܡܢ ܘܫܘܬܦܘܬܢ ܕܝܢ ܕܝܠܢ ܐܝܬܝܗ ܥܡ ܐܒܐ ܘܥܡ ܒܪܗ ܝܫܘܥ ܡܫܝܚܐ ܀
4 We are writing this to you so that our joy may be complete.	4 ܘܗܠܝܢ ܟܬܒܝܢܢ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܚܕܘܬܢ ܕܒܟܘܢ ܬܗܘܐ ܡܫܡܠܝܐ ܀
5 This is what we have heard from him and are declaring to you: God is light, and there is no darkness inhim at al .	5 ܘܗܕܐ ܗܝ ܤܒܪܬܐ ܕܫܡܥܢ ܡܢܗ ܘܡܤܒܪܝܢܢ ܠܟܘܢ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܢܘܗܪܐ ܗܘ ܘܚܫܘܟܐ ܟܠ ܟܠܗ ܠܝܬ ܒܗ ܀
6 If we say that we share in God's life while we are living in darkness, we are lying, because we are notliving the truth.	6 ܘܐܢ ܐܡܪܝܢܢ ܕܫܘܬܦܘܬܐ ܐܝܬ ܠܢ ܥܡܗ ܘܡܗܠܟܝܢܢ ܒܚܫܘܟܐ ܕܓܠܐ ܚܢܢ ܘܠܘ ܒܫܪܪܐ ܪܕܝܢܢ ܀
7 But if we live in light, as he is in light, we have a share in another's life, and the blood of Jesus, his Son,cleanses us from all sin.	7 ܐܢ ܕܝܢ ܒܢܘܗܪܐ ܡܗܠܟܝܢܢ ܐܝܟ ܕܗܘ ܐܝܬܘܗܝ ܒܢܘܗܪܐ ܐܝܬ ܠܢ ܫܘܬܦܘܬܐ ܥܡ ܚܕܕܐ ܘܕܡܐ ܕܝܫܘܥ ܒܪܗ ܡܕܟܐ ܠܢ ܡܢ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܚܛܗܝܢ ܀
8 If we say, 'We have no sin,' we are deceiving ourselves, and truth has no place in us;	8 ܘܐܢ ܢܐܡܪ ܕܠܝܬ ܠܢ ܚܛܝܬܐ ܢܦܫܢ ܡܛܥܝܢܢ ܘܫܪܪܐ ܠܝܬ ܒܢ ܀
9 if we acknowledge our sins, he is trustworthy and upright, so that he will forgive our sins and wilcleanse us from all evil.	9 ܐܢ ܕܝܢ ܡܘܕܝܢܢ ܒܚܛܗܝܢ ܡܗܝܡܢ ܗܘ ܘܙܕܝܩ ܕܢܫܒܘܩ ܠܢ ܚܛܗܝܢ ܘܢܕܟܝܢ ܡܢ ܟܠܗ ܥܘܠܢ ܀
10 If we say, 'We have never sinned,' we make him a liar, and his word has no place in us.	10 ܘܐܢ ܐܡܪܝܢܢ ܕܠܐ ܚܛܝܢ ܥܒܕܝܢܢ ܠܗ ܕܓܠܐ ܘܡܠܬܗ ܠܝܬ ܠܘܬܢ ܀
