Galatians 1

1 From Paul, an apostle appointed not by human beings nor through any human being but by JesusChrist and God the Father who raised him from the dead,	1 Paulo, Apóstolo, não pelos homens nem por intermédio de um homem, mas por Jesus Cristo e por Deus Pai, que o ressuscitou dos mortos,
2 and al the brothers who are with me, to the churches of Galatia.	2 assim como todos os irmãos que estão comigo, às igrejas da Galácia.
3 Grace and peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ	3 Graças a vós e paz da parte de Deus nosso Pai e do Senhor Jesus Cristo,
4 who gave himself for our sins to liberate us from this present wicked world, in accordance with the wil ofour God and Father,	4 o qual se deu a si mesmo por nossos pecados, para nos livrar da perversidade do mundo presente, segundo a vontade de Deus, nosso Pai,
5 to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.	5 ao qual seja dada glória por todos os séculos dos séculos. Assim seja.
6 I am astonished that you are so promptly turning away from the one who cal ed you in the grace ofChrist and are going over to a different gospel-	6 Admiro-me de que, assim tão depressa, passeis daquele que vos chamou à graça de Cristo para outro Evangelho.
7 not that it is another gospel; except that there are trouble-makers among you who are seeking to pervertthe gospel of Christ.	7 Evidentemente que não há outro (Evangelho diferente do que vos preguei), mas há alguns que vos perturbam e querem inverter o Evangelho de Cristo.
8 But even if we ourselves or an angel from heaven preaches to you a gospel other than the one wepreached to you, let God's curse be on him.	8 Mas, ainda que nós mesmos ou um anjo do céu vos anuncie um Evangelho diferente daquele que vos temos anunciado, seja anátema.
9 I repeat again what we declared before: anyone who preaches to you a gospel other than the one youwere first given is to be under God's curse.	9 Como já vo-lo dissemos, agora de novo o digo: se alguém vos anunciar um Evangelho diferente daquele que recebestes, seja anátema.
10 Whom am I trying to convince now, human beings or God? Am I trying to please human beings? If Iwere stil doing that I should not be a servant of Christ.	10 Porventura é o favor dos homens que eu procuro, ou o de Deus? Porventura é aos homens que pretendo agradar? Se agradasse ainda aos homens, não seria servo de Cristo.
11 Now I want to make it quite clear to you, brothers, about the gospel that was preached by me, that itwas no human message.	11 Ora eu declaro-vos, irmãos, que o Evangelho, que tem sido pregado por mim, não é segundo o homem,
12 It was not from any human being that I received it, and I was not taught it, but it came to me through arevelation of Jesus Christ.	12 porque não o recebi, nem aprendi de homem algum, mas por uma revelação de Jesus Cristo.
13 You have surely heard how I lived in the past, within Judaism, and how there was simply no limit to the way I persecuted the Church of God in my attempts to destroy it;	13 Ouvistes dizer de que modo vivi noutro tempo no judaísmo; com que excesso perseguia a Igreja de Deus e a devastava.
14 and how, in Judaism, I outstripped most of my Jewish contemporaries in my limitless enthusiasm forthe traditions of my ancestors.	14 Avançava no judaísmo mais do que muitos meus coetâneos da minha nação, sendo em extremo zeloso das minhas tradições paternas.
15 But when God, who had set me apart from the time when I was in my mother's womb, cal ed methrough his grace and chose	15 Mas, quando aprouve àquele que me segregou desde o ventre de minha mãe e me chamou pela sua graça
16 to reveal his Son in me, so that I should preach him to the gentiles, I was in no hurry to confer with anyhuman being,	16 o revelar seu Filho, em mim, para que eu o pregasse entre as gentes, imediatamente, sem consultar pessoa alguma,
17 or to go up to Jerusalem to see those who were already apostles before me. Instead, I went off toArabia, and later I came back to Damascus.	17 sem ir a Jerusalém aos que eram Apóstolos antes de mim, parti para a Arábia e voltei a Damasco;
18 Only after three years did I go up to Jerusalem to meet Cephas. I stayed fifteen days with him	18 dali, no fim de três anos, fui a Jerusalém, para conhecer Cefas, e estive com ele quinze dias;
19 but did not set eyes on any of the rest of the apostles, only James, the Lord's brother.	19 dos outros Apóstolos não vi nenhum, senão Tiago, irmão do Senhor.
20 I swear before God that what I have written is the truth.	20 No que vos escrevo, digo diante de Deus que não minto.
21 After that I went to places in Syria and Cilicia;	21 Depois fui para os países da Síria e da Cilícia.
22 and was stil unknown by sight to the churches of Judaea which are in Christ,	22 As igrejas da Judeia, que criam em Cristo, nem mesmo de vista me conheciam,
23 they simply kept hearing it said, 'The man once so eager to persecute us is now preaching the faiththat he used to try to destroy,'	23 mas somente tinham ouvido dizer: "Aquele que outrora nos perseguia, agora prega a fé que noutro tempo impugnava"
24 and they gave glory to God for me.	24 e por minha causa davam glória a Deus.
