1 Jésus reprit la parole pour les enseigner en paraboles:	1 And Jesus answered and spake unto them again by parables, and said,
2 "Apprenez quelque chose du Royaume des Cieux. “Un roi a préparé les noces de son fils.	2 The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son,
3 Mais lorsqu’il envoie ses serviteurs pour appeler les invités aux noces, ils ne veulent pas venir.	3 And sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come.
4 De nouveau il envoie d’autres serviteurs pour dire aux invités: ‘J’ai maintenant mon banquet tout préparé. Mes taureaux et mes animaux à l’engrais sont déjà tués, tout est prêt; venez aux noces!’	4 Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage.
5 “Mais les invités s’en moquent et s’en vont, l’un à son champ, l’autre à son commerce.	5 But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise:
6 D’autres se saisissent des serviteurs, leur font violence et les tuent.	6 And the remnant took his servants, and entreated them spitefully, and slew them.
7 “Alors le roi se met en colère: il envoie ses troupes pour massacrer les meurtriers et mettre le feu à leur ville.	7 But when the king heard thereof, he was wroth: and he sent forth his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city.
8 Puis il dit à ses serviteurs: ‘Les noces sont toujours là, mais les invités n’en étaient pas dignes.	8 Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they which were bidden were not worthy.
9 Allez donc aux sorties de la ville et invitez aux noces tous ceux que vous trouverez.’	9 Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage.
10 “Les serviteurs sortent et ramassent sur les chemins tous ceux qu’ils trouvent, bons ou mauvais: la salle du festin se remplit de convives.	10 So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests.
11 “Alors le roi entre pour voir de près ceux qui sont à table et il trouve là un homme qui n’a pas mis le vêtement des noces.	11 And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment:
12 Il lui dit: ‘Mon ami, comment es-tu entré ici sans avoir le vêtement des noces?’ Et l’autre ne répond rien.	12 And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless.
13 Alors le roi dit à ceux qui l’accompagnent: ‘Liez-lui les mains et les pieds et jetez-le dehors, dans les ténèbres; là il y aura pleurs et grincements de dents.’	13 Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
14 “Sachez-le: beaucoup sont invités et peu sont élus.”	14 For many are called, but few are chosen.
15 Les Pharisiens se déplacèrent pour voir ensemble comment prendre Jésus au piège dans ses propres paroles.	15 Then went the Pharisees, and took counsel how they might entangle him in his talk.
16 Ils lui envoyèrent donc leurs disciples en même temps que des Hérodiens, et ces gens lui dirent: "Maître, nous savons que tu es droit et que tu enseignes les chemins de Dieu selon la vérité, sans te laisser influencer par personne; car tu ne cherches pas à te faire bien voir.	16 And they sent out unto him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Master, we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest thou for any man: for thou regardest not the person of men.
17 Dis-nous donc ton avis: est-il permis de payer l’impôt à César ou non?”	17 Tell us therefore, What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute unto Caesar, or not?
18 Jésus a déjà vu leurs mauvaises intentions; il leur répond: "Hypocrites, pourquoi essayez-vous de m’avoir?	18 But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites?
19 Faites-moi voir la monnaie qu’on donne pour l’impôt.” Et ils lui présentent un denier.	19 Shew me the tribute money. And they brought unto him a penny.
20 Jésus leur dit: "Cette tête, et ce nom qu’on a gravé, de qui sont-ils?”	20 And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription?
21 Ils répondent: "De César!” Alors Jésus leur dit: "Rendez à César ce qui est de César, et à Dieu ce qui est de Dieu.”	21 They say unto him, Caesar's. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's.
22 En entendant cela, ils étaient très surpris. Ils laissèrent Jésus et s’en allèrent.	22 When they had heard these words, they marvelled, and left him, and went their way.
23 Un certain jour, des Saducéens vinrent trouver Jésus. Selon eux il n’y a pas de résurrection. Aussi l’interrogèrent-ils de la façon suivante:	23 The same day came to him the Sadducees, which say that there is no resurrection, and asked him,
24 "Maître, Moïse a dit: Si un homme meurt sans enfants, son frère prendra la veuve et donnera ainsi des héritiers au défunt.	24 Saying, Master, Moses said, If a man die, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.
25 Or il y avait chez nous sept frères; le premier s’est marié et il est mort. Comme il n’avait pas d’héritier, il a laissé sa femme à son frère.	25 Now there were with us seven brethren: and the first, when he had married a wife, deceased, and, having no issue, left his wife unto his brother:
26 La même chose s’est passée pour le deuxième: il l’a laissée au troisième, et ainsi de suite pour les sept.	26 Likewise the second also, and the third, unto the seventh.
27 La femme est morte la dernière.	27 And last of all the woman died also.
28 Dans le cas d’une résurrection, lequel des sept aura la femme? Car tous l’ont eue pareillement.”	28 Therefore in the resurrection whose wife shall she be of the seven? for they all had her.
29 Jésus répondit: "Vous êtes dans l’erreur, vous ne connaissez pas les Écritures et pas davantage la puissance de Dieu.	29 Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.
30 À la résurrection on ne prend plus de femme ou de mari: tous sont comme des anges de Dieu dans le ciel.	30 For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.
31 Quant à savoir s’il y a une résurrection, n’avez-vous pas lu ce que Dieu vous a dit:	31 But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying,
32 Je suis le Dieu d’Abraham, le Dieu d’Isaac et le Dieu de Jacob? Il n’est pas un Dieu des morts, mais des vivants!”	32 I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.
33 Une foule de gens écoutaient Jésus et ils étaient frappés de son enseignement.	33 And when the multitude heard this, they were astonished at his doctrine.
34 Quand les Pharisiens apprirent que Jésus avait fermé la bouche aux Saducéens, ils vinrent en groupe,	34 But when the Pharisees had heard that he had put the Sadducees to silence, they were gathered together.
35 et l’un d’eux voulut mettre Jésus à l’épreuve avec cette question:	35 Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying,
36 "Maître, quel est le grand commandement de la Loi?”	36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
37 Jésus lui dit: "Tu aimeras le Seigneur ton Dieu de tout ton cœur, de toute ton âme et de tout ton esprit.	37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38 Voilà le grand, le premier commandement.	38 This is the first and great commandment.
39 Il y en a un deuxième tout à fait pareil: Tu aimeras ton prochain comme toi-même.	39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
40 Toute la Loi et les Prophètes tournent autour de ces deux commandements.”	40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
41 Profitant de ce que les Pharisiens étaient là réunis, Jésus leur posa cette question:	41 While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them,
42 "Parlez-moi du Messie: à votre avis, de qui est-il fils?” Ils lui répondirent: "De David!”	42 Saying, What think ye of Christ? whose son is he? They say unto him, The Son of David.
43 Jésus leur dit: "Mais pourtant David lui donne le titre de Seigneur dans un texte inspiré. Il dit:	43 He saith unto them, How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying,
44 Le Seigneur a dit à mon Seigneur: Siège à ma droite et vois comment je fais de tes ennemis ton marchepied.	44 The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool?
45 Si David lui donne le titre de Seigneur, comment peut-il être son fils?”	45 If David then call him Lord, how is he his son?
46 Et personne ne put lui répondre quoi que ce soit. Aussi, à partir de ce moment-là, personne n’osa plus lui poser ce genre de questions.	46 And no man was able to answer him a word, neither durst any man from that day forth ask him any more questions.
