1 Šimun Petar, sluga i apostol Isusa Krista, onima koje pravednošću Boga našega i Spasitelja Isusa Krista zapade ista dragocjena vjera kao i nas.	1 Simon Peter, servant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who have received a faith as precious as ourown, given through the saving justice of our God and Saviour Jesus Christ.
2 Punina vam milosti i mira po spoznaji Boga i Isusa, Gospodina našega!	2 Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of our Lord.
3 Doista, po spoznaji njega, koji nas pozva slavom svojom i krepošću, božanska nas je snaga njegova obdarila svime za život i pobožnost.	3 By his divine power, he has lavished on us all the things we need for life and for true devotion, throughthe knowledge of him who has called us by his own glory and goodness.
4 Time smo obdareni dragocjenim, najvećim obećanjima da po njima postanete zajedničari božanske naravi umakavši pokvarenosti koja je u svijetu zbog požude.	4 Through these, the greatest and priceless promises have been lavished on us, that through them youshould share the divine nature and escape the corruption rife in the world through disordered passion.
5 Zbog toga svim marom prionite: vjerom osigurajte krepost, krepošću spoznanje,	5 With this in view, do your utmost to support your faith with goodness, goodness with understanding,
6 spoznanjem suzdržljivost, suzdržljivošću postojanost, postojanošću pobožnost,	6 understanding with self-control, self-control with perseverance, perseverance with devotion,

10 Zato, braćo, to revnije uznastojte učvrstiti svoj poziv i izabranje: to čineći – ne, nećete posrnuti nikada!	10 Instead of this, brothers, never allow your choice or cal ing to waver; then there wil be no danger ofyour stumbling,
11 Tako će vam se bogato osigurati ulazak u vječno kraljevstvo Gospodina našega i Spasitelja Isusa Krista.	11 for in this way you wil be given the generous gift of entry to the eternal kingdom of our Lord andSaviour Jesus Christ.
12 Zato ću vas uvijek na to podsjećati premda to znate i utvrđeni ste u primljenoj istini.	12 That is why I wil always go on recal ing the same truths to you, even though you already know themand are firmly fixed in these truths.
13 Pravo je, mislim, da vas, dok sam u ovom šatoru, budim opomenom,	13 I am sure it is my duty, as long as I am in this tent, to keep stirring you up with reminders,
14 svjestan da ću brzo napustiti svoj šator, kako mi i Gospodin naš Isus Krist očitova.	14 since I know the time for me to lay aside this tent is coming soon, as our Lord Jesus Christ made clearto me.
15 A pobrinut ću se da se i nakon mojeg izlaska uvijek toga sjećate.	15 And I shal take great care that after my own departure you will stil have a means to recal thesethings to mind.
16 Ta nismo vam navijestili snagu i dolazak Gospodina našega Isusa Krista slijedeći izmudrene priče, nego kao očevici njegova veličanstva.	16 When we told you about the power and the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, we were not slavishlyrepeating cleverly invented myths; no, we had seen his majesty with our own eyes.
17 Od Oca je doista primio čast i slavu kad mu ono od uzvišene Slave doprije ovaj glas: Ovo je Sin moj, Ljubljeni moj, u njemu mi sva milina!	17 He was honoured and glorified by God the Father, when a voice came to him from the transcendentGlory, This is my Son, the Beloved; he enjoys my favour.
18 Taj glas, koji s neba dopiraše, čusmo mi koji bijasmo s njime na Svetoj gori.	18 We ourselves heard this voice from heaven, when we were with him on the holy mountain.
19 Tako nam je potvrđena proročka riječ te dobro činite što uza nju prianjate kao uza svjetiljku što svijetli na mrklu mjestu – dok Dan ne osvane i Danica se ne pomoli u srcima vašim.	19 So we have confirmation of the words of the prophets; and you wil be right to pay attention to it as to a lamp for lighting a way through the dark, until the dawn comes and the morning star rises in your minds.
20 Ponajprije znajte ovo: nijedno se proroštvo Pisma ne može tumačiti samovoljno	20 At the same time, we must recognise that the interpretation of scriptural prophecy is never a matter forthe individual.
