1 Jahve reče Mojsiju:	1 Yahweh spoke to Moses and said,
2 »Pošalji ljude, po jednoga čovjeka iz pojedinog pradjedovskog plemena, da izvide kanaansku zemlju, koju dajem Izraelcima. Pošaljite sve njihove glavare!«	2 'Send out men, one from each tribe, to reconnoitre the land of Canaan which I am giving theIsraelites. Each of them is to be a leading man of the tribe.'
3 Na Jahvinu zapovijed Mojsije ih posla iz pustinje Parana. Svi ti ljudi bijahu glavari Izraelaca.	3 At Yahweh's order, Moses sent them from the desert of Paran. All of them were leading men of Israel.
4 A ovo su njihova imena: Šamua, sin Zakurov, od plemena Rubenova;	4 These were their names: For the tribe of Reuben, Shammua son of Zaccur:
5 Šafat, sin Horijev, od plemena Šimunova;	5 for the tribe of Simeon, Shaphat son of Hori;
6 Kaleb, sin Jefuneov, od plemena Judina;	6 for the tribe of Judah, Caleb son of Jephunneh;
7 Jigal, sin Josipov, od plemena Jisakarova;	7 for the tribe of of Issachar, Igal son of Joseph;
8 Hošea, sin Nunov, od plemena Efrajimova;	8 for the tribe of Ephraim, Hoshea son of Nun;
9 Palti, sin Rafuov, od plemena Benjaminova;	9 for the tribe of Benjamin, Palti son of Raphu;
10 Gadiel, sin Sodijev, od plemena Zebulunova;	10 for the tribe of Zebulun, Gaddiel son of Sodi;
11 Gadi, sin Susijev, od plemena Josipova, od plemena Manašeova;	11 for the tribe of Joseph, for the tribe of Manasseh, Gaddi son of Susi;
12 Amiel, sin Gemalijev, od plemena Danova;	12 for the tribe of Dan, Ammiel son of Gemal i;
13 Setur, sin Mikaelov, od plemena Ašerova;	13 for the tribe of Asher, Sethur son of Michael;
14 Nahbi, sin Vofsijev, od plemena Naftalijeva;	14 for the tribe of Naphtali, Nahbi son of Vophsi;
15 Geuel, sin Makijev, od plemena Gadova.	15 for the tribe of Gad, Geuel son of Machi.
16 To su imena ljudi koje je Mojsije poslao da izvide zemlju. A Hošeu, sina Nunova, Mojsije prozva Jošuom.	16 Such were the names of the men whom Moses sent to reconnoitre the country. Moses then gaveHoshea son of Nun the name Joshua.
17 Posla ih Mojsije da izvide kanaansku zemlju pa im reče: »Idite gore u Negeb, onda se popnite na brdo.	17 Moses sent them to reconnoitre the land of Canaan, 'Go up into the Negeb,' he said, 'then go up intothe highlands.
18 Razgledajte zemlju kakva je. Je li narod koji u njoj živi jak ili slab, malobrojan ili mnogobrojan?	18 See what sort of country it is, and what sort of people the inhabitants are, whether they are strong orweak, few or many,
19 Kakva je zemlja u kojoj živi: dobra ili loša? Kakvi su gradovi u kojima borave: otvoreni ili utvrđeni?	19 what sort of land they live on, whether it is good or poor; what sort of towns they live in, whether theyare open or fortified;
20 Kakvo je tlo: plodno ili mršavo? Ima li po njemu drveća ili nema? Odvažni budite i ponesite plodova te zemlje.« Bilo je upravo vrijeme ranog grožđa.	20 what sort of land it is, fertile or barren, wooded or open. Be bold, and bring back some of thecountry's produce.' It was the season for early grapes.
21 Odu oni gore da izvide zemlju od pustinje Sina do Rehoba, koji je na ulazu u Hamat.	21 They went up and reconnoitred the country from the desert of Zin to Rehob, the Pass of Hamath.
22 Popnu se u Negeb i dođu do Hebrona, gdje su se nalazili Ahiman, Šešaj i Talmaj, Anakovi potomci. – Hebron je osnovan sedam godina prije nego Soan u Egiptu. –	22 They went up by way of the Negeb as far as Hebron, where Ahiman, Sheshai and Talmai, theAnakim, lived. (Hebron was founded seven years before Tanis in Egypt.)
23 Kada stigoše u Dolinu Eškol, odrezaše ondje lozu s grozdom i ponesoše ga, udvoje, na motki; ponesoše i mogranja i smokava.	23 Reaching the Vale of Eshcol, there they lopped off a vine branch with a cluster of grapes, which twoof them carried away on a pole, as wel as pomegranates and figs.
24 Ono se mjesto prozva Dolina Eškol zbog grozda koji su ondje Izraelci odrezali.	24 This place was called the Vale of Eshcol after the cluster which the Israelites cut there.
25 Nakon četrdeset dana vrate se iz zemlje koju su izviđali.	25 After forty days they returned from reconnoitring the country.
26 Odu k Mojsiju i Aronu i svoj izraelskoj zajednici u Kadeš, u Paranskoj pustinji. Podnesu njima i svoj zajednici izvještaj, a onda im pokažu plodove zemlje.	26 Making their way to Moses, Aaron and the whole community of Israel, in the desert of Paran, atKadesh, they made their report to them and the whole community, and displayed the country's produce.
27 Izvijeste ga oni: »Išli smo u zemlju u koju si nas poslao. Zaista njome teče med i mlijeko. Evo njezinih plodova.	27 This was the report they gave: 'We made our way into the country where you sent us. It does indeedflow with milk and honey; here is what it produces.
28 Ali je jak narod koji u onoj zemlji živi, gradovi su utvrđeni i vrlo veliki. A vidjesmo ondje i potomke Anakove.	28 At the same time, its inhabitants are a powerful people; the towns are fortified and very big; yes, andwe saw the Anakim there.
29 Amalečani borave u negepskom kraju; Hetiti, Jebusejci i Amorejci žive u brdu; a Kanaanci se nalaze uz more i duž Jordana.«	29 The Amalekites occupy the Negeb area, the Hittites, Jebusites and Amorites the highlands, and theCanaanites the sea coast and the banks of the Jordan.'
30 Kaleb ušutka narod oko Mojsija i progovori: »Krenimo ne oklijevajući i zauzmimo je, jer je možemo nadvladati!«	30 Caleb called the people round Moses to silence and then said, 'We must march in immediately andtake it; we are certainly able to conquer it.'
31 Ali ljudi što su s njim išli odvratiše: »Ne možemo ići na onaj narod jer je jači od nas.«	31 But the men who had been with him said, 'We cannot attack these people; they are stronger than weare.'
32 I počnu ozloglašivati Izraelcima zemlju koju su izviđali: »Zemlja kroz koju smo prošli da je izvidimo zemlja je što proždire svoje stanovništvo. Sav narod što ga u njoj vidjesmo ljudi su krupna stasa.	32 And they began disparaging to the Israelites the country they had reconnoitred, saying, 'The countrywe have been to reconnoitre is a country that devours its inhabitants. Al the people we saw there were ofenormous size.
33 Vidjesmo ondje i divove – Anakovo potomstvo od divova. Činilo nam se da smo prema njima kao skakavci. Takvi bijasmo i njima.«	33 We saw giants there too (the Anakim, descended from the Giants). We felt like grasshoppers, andso we seemed to them.'
