1 Salomon, sin Davidov, bio se učvrstio na prijestolju. Jahve, Bog njegov, bijaše s njim i uzvisi ga veoma.	1 Solomon son of David then made himself secure over his kingdom. Yahweh his God was with him,making him more and more powerful.
2 Salomon se tada obrati svem Izraelu, tisućnicima, satnicima, sucima, svim knezovima izraelskim, glavama obitelji,	2 Solomon then spoke to al Israel, to the commanders of thousands and of hundreds, to the judges andto every leader in all Israel, the heads of families.
3 te se on i s njim sav zbor popeše na uzvišicu koja bješe u Gibeonu, jer je ondje bio Šator sastanka što ga u pustinji podiže Mojsije, sluga Božji.	3 Solomon, and the whole assembly with him, then went to the high place at Gibeon, where God's Tentof Meeting was, which Moses, servant of God, had made in the desert.
4 David bijaše prenio Kovčeg Božji iz Kirjat Jearima do mjesta koje je sam pripravio za nj; jer je bio podigao Šator u Jeruzalemu.	4 The ark of the covenant, however, David had brought from Kiriath-Jearim to the place which he hadprepared for it, having pitched a tent for it in Jerusalem.
5 Mjedeni žrtvenik što ga napravi Besalel, sin Hurova sina Urija, bijaše ondje pred prebivalištem Jahvinim, kamo dođoše Salomon i zbor da mu se obrate.	5 The bronze altar which Bezalel son of Uri, son of Hur, had made was there, in front of Yahweh'sDwelling, where Solomon and the assembly consulted him.
6 Ondje se Salomon pred Jahvom pope na mjedeni žrtvenik, koji bješe tik do Šatora sastanka, i prinese na njemu tisuću paljenica.	6 There Solomon presented a burnt offering before Yahweh on the bronze altar of the Tent of Meeting,making on it one thousand burnt offerings.
7 Iste se noći Bog ukaza Salomonu i reče mu: »Traži što da ti dadem.«	7 That night God appeared to Solomon and said, 'Ask what you would like me to give you.'
8 Salomon odgovori: »Veoma si naklon bio mome ocu Davidu i zakraljio si mene na njegovo mjesto.	8 Solomon replied to God, 'You showed most faithful love to David my father, and you have made meking in succession to him.
9 Bože Jahve, neka se ispuni sada obećanje što si ga dao mome ocu Davidu, jer si me zakraljio nad narodom kojega ima mnogo kao zemaljske prašine.	9 Yahweh God, the promise you made to David my father has now been fulfil ed, since you have mademe king over a people as numerous as the dust of the earth.
10 Daj mi sada mudrost i znanje da uzmognem upravljati ovim narodom, jer tko će upravljati tolikim narodom kao što je ovaj tvoj!«	10 Therefore give me wisdom and knowledge to act as leader of this people, for how otherwise couldsuch a great people as yours be governed?'
11 Bog reče Salomonu: »Budući da ti je to u srcu, a nisi iskao ni bogatstva, ni blaga, ni slave, ni smrti neprijateljâ i jer nisi tražio duga života, nego mudrosti i znanja kako bi upravljao mojim narodom nad kojim te zakraljih,	11 'Since that is what you want,' God said to Solomon, 'since you have asked, not for riches, treasure,honour, the lives of your enemies, or even for a long life, but for wisdom and knowledge to govern my people ofwhom I have made you king,
12 dajem ti mudrost i znanje. Ali ti dajem i bogatstva, blaga i slave kakve nije imao nijedan kralj što bješe prije tebe i kakve neće imati ni oni koji dođu poslije tebe.«	12 therefore wisdom and knowledge are granted you. I give you riches too, and treasure, and honoursuch as no king had before you and none will have after you.'
13 Salomon s uzvišice u Gibeonu ode u Jeruzalem, podalje od Šatora sastanka, i kraljevaše nad Izraelom.	13 So Solomon came away from the high place at Gibeon, from the Tent of Meeting, to Jerusalem andreigned over Israel.
14 Sakupi bojnih kola i konjanika: imao je tisuću četiri stotine kola i dvanaest tisuća konjanika i razmjesti ih po gradovima gdje mu bijahu kola i kod sebe u Jeruzalemu.	14 Solomon then built up a force of chariots and cavalry; he had one thousand four hundred chariots andtwelve thousand horses; these he kept in the chariot towns and near the king at Jerusalem.
15 Salomon učini da srebra i zlata bude u Jeruzalemu izobila kao kamenja, a cedrova mnogo kao dudova u Šefeli.	15 In Jerusalem the king made silver and gold as common as stones, and cedar wood as plentiful assycamore in the lowlands.
16 Konji Salomonovi bili su uvezeni iz Musrija i Koe; kraljevski dvorani kupovahu ih u Koi za srebro.	16 Solomon's horses were imported from Muzur and Cilicia. The king's dealers acquired them in Cilicia atthe prevailing price.
17 Dovozila su se i prodavala jedna bojna kola iz Egipta po šest stotina srebrnih šekela, a konji po sto i pedeset; to bješe isto tako za sve hetitske i aramejske kraljeve koji su ih uvozili preko njih.	17 A chariot was imported from Egypt for six hundred silver shekels and a horse from Cilicia for ahundred and fifty. They also supplied the Hittite and Aramaean kings, who al used them as middlemen.
18 Salomon naumi sagraditi dom – jedan imenu Jahvinu, a drugi sebi za kraljevski dvorac.	18 Solomon then gave the order to build a house for the name of Yahweh and a palace in which to reign.
