Isaia 3

BIBBIA VOLGARE	DOUAI-RHEIMS
1 Ed ecco lo Signore dello esercito torrà di Ierusalem e di Giuda il saldo e lo forte, e ogni fortezza di pane, e ogni fortezza d'acqua;	1 For behold the sovereign the Lord of hosts shall take away from Jerusalem, and from Juda the valiant and the strong, the whole strength of bread, and the whole strength of water.
2 e lo forte uomo combattitore, e giudice e profeta e ariolo (cioè quello che alcuna volta indovina lo vero) e lo antico;	2 The strong man, and the man of war, the judge, and the prophet, and the cunning man, and the ancient.
3 e lo principe sopra L persone, e lo onorevole nel volto, e lo consigliere, e lo savio (e capo maestro) delli artefici, e lo savio del parlare mescolato (come sono li dottori).	3 The captain over fifty, and the honourable in countenance, and the counsellor, and the architect, and the skilful in eloquent speech.
4 E farò (li loro) fanciulli loro principi, e li feminaccioli signoreggeranno loro.	4 And I will give children to be their princes, and the effeminate shall rule over them.
5 E lo populo cadrà, l' uomo all' uomo, e ciascuno al suo prossimo; lo fanciullo piccolo si metterà contro al vecchio, e lo non gentile contro allo gentile.	5 And the people shall rush one upon another, and every man against his neighbour: the child shall make it tumult against the ancient, and the base against the honourable.
6 E l' uomo piglierae lo suo fratello domestico (cioè che sarae della casa) del suo padre, e dirà: tu hai il vestimento, adunque sii nostro principe, e questa rovina sia nella tua mano.	6 For a man shall take hold or his brother, one of the house of his father, saying: Thou hast a garment, be thou our ruler, and let this ruin be under thy hand.
7 E risponderà in quello [dì], dicendo: io non sono medico, e nella casa mia non è pane nè vestimento; non mi vogliate fare principe del popolo.	7 In that day he shall answer, saying: I am no healer, and in my house there is no bread, nor clothing: make me not ruler of the people.
8 Però che Ierusalem rovinò, e Giuda è caduto; però che li loro trovamenti erano contro a Dio, per provocare li occhi della sua maestade.	8 For Jerusalem is ruined, and Juda is fallen: because their tongue, and their devices are against the Lord, to provoke the eyes of his majesty.
9 Lo conoscimento del volto loro rispondeva a loro; e loro peccato predicherannolo (e manifesterannolo) quasi come Sodoma, e non lo nascosono: guai alle loro anime! però che li mali (loro) sono loro renduti.	9 The shew of their countenance hath answered them: and they have proclaimed abroad their sin as Sodom, and they have not hid it: woe to their souls, for evils are rendered to them.
10 Dite al giusto, però che è bene, però che mangerà lo frutto delle sue operazioni.	10 Say to the just man that it is well, for he shall eat the fruit of his doings.
11 Guai al malvagio nello male! la retribuzione delle sue mani sarà fatta a lui.	11 Woe to the wicked unto evil: for the reward of his hands shall be given him.
12 Li suoi fattori spogliarono il mio popolo, e le femine signoreggiarono quelli. O popolo mio, quelli che ti dicono beato, egli [t'] ingannano, e disfanno la via del tuo andamento.	12 As for my people, their oppressors have stripped them, and women have ruled over them. O my people, they that call thee blessed, the same deceive thee, and destroy the way of thy steps.
13 Lo Signore sta a giudicare li popoli.	13 The Lord standeth up to judge, and he standeth to judge the people.
14 Lo Signore verrà al giudicio colli antichi del popolo suo e con li suoi principi; e voi avete pasciuta la mia vigna, e la rapina delli poveri è nella vostra casa.	14 The Lord will enter into judgment with the ancients of his people, and its princes: for you have devoured the vineyard, and the spoil of the poor is in your house.
15 Per che atterrate il popolo mio, e per che isforzate le faccie de' poveri? dice lo Signore delli eserciti.	15 Why do you consume my people, and grind the faces of the poor? saith the Lord the God of hosts.
16 E disse Iddio: però che le figliuole di Sion si sono levate, e andarono col collo disteso, e con accennamento d' occhi andarono, e adornarono con le mani, e andarono colli loro piedi con composto passo;	16 And the Lord said: Because the daughters of Sion are haughty, and have walked with stretched out necks, and wanton glances of their eyes, and made a noise as they walked with their feet and moved in a set pace:
17 Iddio farae calve le teste (e capi) delle figliuole di Sion, e scoprirà li loro capelli.	17 The Lord will make bald the crown of the head of the daughters of Sion, and the Lord will discover their hair.
18 In quel die Iddio torrà loro l' adornamento de' calzamenti, e le lunole (ovvero scarpette);	18 In that day the Lord will take away the ornaments of shoes, end little moons,
19 e li adornamenti del collo e li adornamenti del petto e li adornamenti delle braccia e le mitrie (chè usavano di portare cotali ornamenti a modo di mitrie);	19 And chains and necklaces, and bracelets, and bonnets,
20 e' pettini da pettinare, ovver ornamenti del capo, e li fregi e adornamenti del collo, tessuti d'oro o d'ariento, e cotali vaselli in che portavano lo moscado e altre cose odorifere (per non putire alli loro amatori, però che doveano sapere li sacrificii; e quelli che non sono battezzati putono tanto, quando sudano, che appena si puote loro stare presso; e però loro usano tanto li bagni e delle stufe). E torrò li adornamenti delli orecchi;	20 And bodkins, and ornaments of the legs, and tablets, and sweet balls, and earrings,
21 e li anelli e le gemme che portano nelle fronti;	21 And rings, and jewels hanging on the forehead,
22 e le mutande, e cotali panni a modo di mantelli, quali chiamano pallii, (e però abbiamo nel libro de' Re, che Elia profeta lasciò ad Eliseo lo suo pallio, cioè lo suo mantello), e le lenzuola e li aghi;	22 And changes of apparel, and short cloaks, and fine linen, and crisping pins,
23 e li specchi e zendadi, e legami per legare i capelli, e vestimenti sottili d'estate.	23 And looking-glasses, and lawns, and headbands, and fine veils.
24 E farò che la puzza sarae a voi soave odore, e porterete per correggia uno funicello; e per li capelli crespi farò sarete calve, e per la fascia del petto averete lo ciliccio.	24 And instead of a sweet smell there shall be stench, and instead of a girdle, a cord, and instead of curled hair, baldness, and instead of a stomacher, haircloth.
25 E li tuoi belli uomini caderanno per lo coltello, e li tuoi forti nella battaglia.	25 Thy fairest men also shall fall by the sword, and thy valiant ones in battle.
26 E le sue porte si doleranno e piagneranno, e la desolata sederà in terra.	26 And her gates shall lament and mourn, and she shall sit desolate on the ground.
