1 Se tu farai bene, sappi a cui tu il fai; e molta grazia sarae nelli tuoi beni.	1 If you do good, know for whom you are doing it, and your kindness will have its effect.
2 Fa bene al giusto, e troverai grande merito; e se tu nol troverai da lui, certo tu il troverai da Dio.	2 Do good to the just man and reward will be yours, if not from him, from the LORD.
3 Non fia bene a colui che sarà continuo nelli mali e che non darà limosina; però che eziandio l'Altissimo inodia li peccatori, ed ebbe misericordia di coloro che si penterono.	3 No good comes to him who gives comfort to the wicked, nor is it an act of mercy that he does.
4 Dà al misericordioso, e non accettare il peccatore; alli rei e alli cattivi renderae Iddio punimento, e serberalli al dì della pena.	4 Give to the good man, refuse the sinner; refresh the downtrodden, give nothing to the proud man.
5 Dà al buono, e non ricevere il peccatore.	5 No arms for combat should you give him, lest he use them against yourself;
6 Fa bene all' umile, e non dare al reo; non li lasciare dare dei pane, acciò che quello non sia più potente di te.	6 With twofold evil you will meet for every good deed you do for him.
7 Però che tu troverai doppi mali in ciascuni beni; eziandio l' Altissimo ha in odio li peccatori, e farae vendetta de' malvagi.	7 The Most High himself hates sinners, and upon the wicked he takes vengeance.
8 Non si conosce l'amico nelli beni; e non fia nascoso il nimico nelle avversitadi.	8 In our prosperity we cannot know our friends; in adversity an enemy will not remain concealed.
9 Nelli beni dell' uomo, li nimici di colui sono in tristizia; e nella avversità dell' uomo si è conosciuto l'amico.	9 When a man is successful even his enemy is friendly; in adversity even his friend disappears.
10 In eterno non crederai allo nimico tuo; sì come inchiostro, la malvagitade di colui macchia (e arrugginisce).	10 Never trust your enemy, for his wickedness is like corrosion in bronze.
11 E avvegna ch' ello umiliato vada chinato, parti l'animo tuo; e guàrdati da lui.	11 Even though he acts humbly and peaceably toward you, take care to be on your guard against him. Rub him as one polishes a brazen mirror, and you will find that there is still corrosion.
12 Non porre lui a lato a te; e non seggia dalla tua destra mano, nè convertito stia nel luogo tuo, acciò che vòlto nel luogo tuo non cerchi la sedia tua; però che alla fine conosceresti le parole mie, e saresti stimolato nelli sermoni miei.	12 Let him not stand near you, lest he oust you and take your place. Let him not sit at your right hand, lest he then demand your seat, And in the end you appreciate my advice, when you groan with regret, as I warned you.
13 Or chi medicherae lo incantatore percosso dal serpente, e tutti quelli che approssimano alle bestie? e chi s' accompagna collo reo uomo, sì è inviluppato nelli peccati suoi.	13 Who pities a snake charmer when he is bitten, or anyone who goes near a wild beast?
14 Una ora starae teco; se tu abbasserai, non ti comporterae.	14 So is it with the companion of the proud man, who is involved in his sins:
15 Il nimico, il dolce si è nelli labbri suoi; e nel cuore suo t' agguata, acciò ch' egli ti stravolga nella fossa.	15 While you stand firm, he makes no bold move; but if you slip, he cannot hold back.
16 Il nimico lacrima nel cospetto tuo; e se egli troverae tempo, non si sazierae del sangue tuo.	16 With his lips an enemy speaks sweetly, but in his heart he schemes to plunge you into the abyss. Though your enemy has tears in his eyes, if given the chance, he will never have enough of your blood.
17 Se ti avverrà male, tu lo troverai peggiore.	17 If evil comes upon you, you will find him at hand; feigning to help, he will trip you up,
18 Nel cospetto lacrimarà il nimico; sì come aiutandoti, caverae le piante tue.	18 Then he will nod his head and clap his hands and hiss repeatedly, and show his true face.
19 Scorlerae il capo suo, e picchierae con mano; e molte cose mormorando, muterae il viso suo.
