NEW JERUSALEMPeshitta
After this I heard what seemed to be the great sound of a huge crowd in heaven, singing, 'Al eluia!Salvation and glory and power to our God!1 ܘܡܢ ܒܬܪ ܗܠܝܢ ܫܡܥܬ ܩܠܐ ܪܒܐ ܕܟܢܫܐ ܤܓܝܐܐ ܒܫܡܝܐ ܕܐܡܪܝܢ ܗܠܠܘܝܐ ܦܘܪܩܢܐ ܘܬܫܒܘܚܬܐ ܘܚܝܠܐ ܠܐܠܗܢ ܀
He judges fairly, he punishes justly, and he has condemned the great prostitute who corrupted theearth with her prostitution; he has avenged the blood of his servants which she shed.'2 ܡܛܠ ܕܫܪܝܪܝܢ ܘܟܐܢܝܢ ܕܝܢܘܗܝ ܡܛܠ ܕܕܢ ܠܙܢܝܬܐ ܪܒܬܐ ܐܝܕܐ ܕܚܒܠܬ ܠܐܪܥܐ ܒܙܢܝܘܬܗ ܘܬܒܥ ܕܡܐ ܕܥܒܕܘܗܝ ܡܢ ܐܝܕܝܗ ܀
And again they sang, 'Alleluia! The smoke of her wil rise for ever and ever.'3 ܕܬܪܬܝܢ ܐܡܪܘ ܗܠܠܘܝܐ ܘܬܢܢܗ ܤܠܩ ܠܥܠܡ ܥܠܡܝܢ ܀
Then the twenty-four elders and the four living creatures threw themselves down and worshipped Godseated on his throne, and they cried, 'Amen, Alleluia.'4 ܘܢܦܠܘ ܥܤܪܝܢ ܘܐܪܒܥܐ ܩܫܝܫܝܢ ܘܐܪܒܥ ܚܝܘܢ ܘܤܓܕܘ ܠܐܠܗܢ ܕܝܬܒ ܥܠ ܟܘܪܤܝܐ ܘܐܡܪܝܢ ܐܡܝܢ ܗܠܠܘܝܐ ܀
Then a voice came from the throne; it said, 'Praise our God, you servants of his and those who fearhim, smal and great alike.'5 ܘܩܠܐ ܡܢ ܟܘܪܤܝܐ ܕܐܡܪ ܫܒܚܘ ܠܐܠܗܢ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܥܒܕܘܗܝ ܘܕܚܠܝ ܫܡܗ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܙܥܘܪܐ ܥܡ ܪܘܪܒܐ ܀
And I heard what seemed to be the voices of a huge crowd, like the sound of the ocean or the greatroar of thunder, answering, 'Alleluia! The reign of the Lord our God Almighty has begun;6 ܘܫܡܥܬ ܩܠܐ ܐܝܟ ܕܟܢܫܐ ܤܓܝܐܐ ܘܐܝܟ ܩܠܐ ܕܡܝܐ ܤܓܝܐܐ ܘܐܝܟ ܩܠܐ ܕܪܥܡܐ ܚܝܠܬܢܐ ܕܐܡܪܝܢ ܗܠܠܘܝܐ ܡܛܠ ܕܐܡܠܟ ܡܪܝܐ ܐܠܗܐ ܐܚܝܕ ܟܠ ܀
let us be glad and joyful and give glory to God, because this is the time for the marriage of the Lamb.7 ܚܕܝܢܢ ܘܡܬܦܨܚܝܢܢ ܢܬܠ ܠܗ ܬܫܒܘܚܬܐ ܡܛܠ ܕܐܬܬ ܡܫܬܘܬܗ ܕܐܡܪܐ ܘܐܢܬܬܗ ܛܝܒܬ ܢܦܫܗ ܀
His bride is ready, and she has been able to dress herself in dazzling white linen, because her linen ismade of the good deeds of the saints.'8 ܘܐܬܝܗܒ ܠܗ ܕܬܬܥܛܦ ܒܘܨܐ ܕܟܝܐ ܘܢܗܝܪܐ ܒܘܨܐ ܓܝܪ ܬܪܝܨܬܐ ܐܢܝܢ ܕܩܕܝܫܐ ܀
The angel said, 'Write this, "Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding feast of the Lamb," ' andhe added, 'These words of God are true.'9 ܘܐܡܪܘ ܠܝ ܟܬܘܒ ܛܘܒܝܗܘܢ ܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܠܚܫܡܝܬܐ ܕܡܫܬܘܬܗ ܕܐܡܪܐ ܐܝܬܝܗܘܢ ܩܪܝܐ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܝ ܗܠܝܢ ܡܠܐ ܕܫܪܝܪܢ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܐܝܬܝܗܝܢ ܀
Then I knelt at his feet to worship him, but he said to me, 'Never do that: I am your fellow-servant andthe fellow-servant of al your brothers who have in themselves the witness of Jesus. God alone you mustworship.' The witness of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.10 ܘܢܦܠܬ ܩܕܡ ܪܓܠܘܗܝ ܘܤܓܕܬ ܠܗ ܘܐܡܪ ܠܝ ܠܐ ܟܢܬܟ ܐܝܬܝ ܘܕܐܚܝܟ ܗܠܝܢ ܕܐܝܬ ܠܗܘܢ ܤܗܕܘܬܐ ܕܝܫܘܥ ܠܐܠܗܐ ܤܓܘܕ ܝܬܝܪܐܝܬ ܤܗܕܘܬܐ ܓܝܪ ܕܝܫܘܥ ܐܝܬܝܗ ܪܘܚܐ ܕܢܒܝܘܬܐ ܀
And now I saw heaven open, and a white horse appear; its rider was cal ed Trustworthy and True; inuprightness he judges and makes war.11 ܘܚܙܝܬ ܫܡܝܐ ܕܦܬܝܚ ܘܗܐ ܤܘܤܝܐ ܚܘܪܐ ܘܕܝܬܒ ܥܠܘܗܝ ܡܬܩܪܐ ܡܗܝܡܢܐ ܘܫܪܝܪܐ ܘܒܟܐܢܘܬܐ ܕܐܢ ܘܡܩܪܒ ܀
His eyes were flames of fire, and he was crowned with many coronets; the name written on him wasknown only to himself,12 ܥܝܢܘܗܝ ܕܝܢ ܐܝܟ ܫܠܗܒܝܬܐ ܕܢܘܪܐ ܘܥܠ ܪܝܫܗ ܬܐܓܐ ܤܓܝܐܐ ܘܐܝܬ ܠܗ ܫܡܐ ܟܬܝܒܐ ܐܝܢܐ ܕܠܐ ܝܕܥ ܐܠܐ ܐܢ ܗܘ ܀
his cloak was soaked in blood. He is known by the name, The Word of God.13 ܘܡܥܛܦ ܡܐܢܐ ܕܙܠܝܥ ܒܕܡܐ ܘܡܬܩܪܐ ܫܡܗ ܡܠܬܐ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܀
Behind him, dressed in linen of dazzling white, rode the armies of heaven on white horses.14
From his mouth came a sharp sword with which to strike the unbelievers; he is the one who wil rulethem with an iron sceptre, and tread out the wine of Almighty God's fierce retribution.15 ܘܡܢ ܦܘܡܗܘܢ ܢܦܩܐ ܚܪܒܐ ܚܪܝܦܬܐ ܕܒܗ ܢܩܛܠܘܢ ܠܥܡܡܐ ܘܗܘ ܢܪܥܐ ܐܢܘܢ ܒܫܒܛܐ ܕܦܪܙܠܐ ܘܗܘ ܕܐܫ ܡܥܨܪܬܐ ܕܪܘܓܙܗ ܕܐܠܗܐ ܐܚܝܕ ܟܠ ܀
On his cloak and on his thigh a name was written: King of kings and Lord of lords.16
I saw an angel standing in the sun, and he shouted aloud to al the birds that were flying highoverhead in the sky, 'Come here.
You wil eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of great generals and heroes, the flesh of horses andtheir riders and of al kinds of people, citizens and slaves, smal and great alike.'18 ܕܬܐܟܠܘܢ ܒܤܪܐ ܕܡܠܟܐ ܘܒܤܪܐ ܕܪܫܝ ܐܠܦܐ ܘܒܤܪܐ ܕܥܫܝܢܐ ܘܒܤܪܐ ܕܪܟܫܐ ܘܕܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܝܬܒܝܢ ܥܠܝܗܘܢ ܘܒܤܪܐ ܕܚܐܪܐ ܘܕܥܒܕܐ ܘܕܙܥܘܪܐ ܘܕܪܘܪܒܐ ܀
Then I saw the beast, with al the kings of the earth and their armies, gathered together to fight theRider and his army.19 ܘܚܙܝܬ ܠܚܝܘܬܐ ܘܠܚܝܠܘܬܗ ܘܡܠܟܐ ܕܐܪܥܐ ܘܠܦܠܚܝܗܘܢ ܕܡܟܢܫܝܢ ܠܡܥܒܕ ܩܪܒܐ ܥܡ ܗܘ ܕܝܬܒ ܥܠ ܤܘܤܝܐ ܘܥܡ ܦܠܚܘܗܝ ܀
But the beast was taken prisoner, together with the false prophet who had worked miracles on thebeast's behalf and by them had deceived those who had accepted branding with the mark of the beast and thosewho had worshipped his statue. These two were hurled alive into the fiery lake of burning sulphur.20 ܘܐܬܬܨܝܕܬ ܚܝܘܬܐ ܘܢܒܝܐ ܕܓܠܐ ܥܡܗ ܗܘ ܕܥܒܕ ܐܬܘܬܐ ܩܕܡܝܗ ܕܒܗܝܢ ܐܛܥܝ ܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܢܤܒܘ ܪܘܫܡܐ ܕܚܝܘܬܐ ܘܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܤܓܕܘ ܠܨܠܡܗ ܘܢܚܬܘ ܬܪܝܗܘܢ ܘܐܬܪܡܝܘ ܒܝܡܬܐ ܕܢܘܪܐ ܕܝܩܕܐ ܘܕܟܒܪܝܬܐ ܀
Al the rest were kil ed by the sword of the Rider, which came out of his mouth, and al the birdsglutted themselves with their flesh.21 ܘܕܫܪܟܐ ܕܝܢ ܐܬܩܛܠܘ ܒܚܪܒܗ ܕܗܘ ܕܝܬܒ ܥܠ ܤܘܤܝܐ ܒܐܝܕܐ ܕܢܦܩܐ ܡܢ ܦܘܡܗ ܘܟܠܗ ܛܝܪܐ ܤܒܥܬ ܡܢ ܒܤܪܗܘܢ ܀
