| 1 ואל מלאך קהל סרדיס כתב כה אמר אשר לו שבע רוחות האלהים ושבעת הכוכבים ידעתי את מעשיך כי לך שם כאלו אתה חי והנך מת | 1 'Write to the angel of the church in Sardis and say, "Here is the message of the one who holds theseven spirits of God and the seven stars: I know about your behaviour: how you are reputed to be alive and yetare dead. |
| 2 שקד וחזק את השארית הקרובה למות כי לא מצאתי מעשיך שלמים לפני האלהים | 2 Wake up; put some resolve into what little vigour you have left: it is dying fast. So far I have failed tonotice anything in your behaviour that my God could possibly cal perfect; |
| 3 זכור את אשר קבלת ושמעת ושמרה זאת ושובה ואם לא תשקד הנני בא עליך כגנב ולא תדע באי זו שעה אבא עליך | 3 remember how you first heard the message. Hold on to that. Repent! If you do not wake up, I shalcome to you like a thief, and you wil have no idea at what hour I shal come upon you. |
| 4 יש לך גם בסרדיס שמות מעטים אשר לא גאלו את מלבושיהם ויתהלכו אתי לבשי לבנים כי ראוים הם לזאת | 4 There are a few in Sardis, it is true, who have kept their robes unstained, and they are fit to come withme, dressed in white. |
| 5 המנצח ילבש בגדים לבנים ולא אמחה את שמו מספר החיים ואודה שמו לפני אבי ולפני מלאכיו | 5 Anyone who proves victorious wil be dressed, like these, in white robes; I shal not blot that name outof the book of life, but acknowledge it in the presence of my Father and his angels. |
| 6 מי אשר אזן לו ישמע את אשר הרוח אמר לקהלות | 6 Let anyone who can hear, listen to what the Spirit is saying to the churches." |
| 7 ואל מלאך קהל פילדלפיא כתב כה אמר הקדוש האמתי אשר בידו מפתח דוד הפתח ואין סגר והסגר ואין פתח | 7 'Write to the angel of the church in Philadelphia and say, "Here is the message of the holy and true onewho has the key of David, so that when he opens, no one wil close, and when he closes, no one wil open: |
| 8 ידעתי את מעשיך הנה נתתי לפניך פתח נפתח אשר לא יוכל איש לסגרו כי גבורת מעט לך ותשמר את דברי ולא כחשת בשמי | 8 I know about your activities. Look, I have opened in front of you a door that no one will be able to close-- and I know that though you are not very strong, you have kept my commandments and not disowned myname. |
| 9 הנני נתן אנשים מכנסית השטן האמרים יהודים אנחנו ואינם כי כזבים המה הנני עשה אשר יבאו להשתחות לפני רגליך וידעו כי אני אהבתיך | 9 Look, I am going to make the synagogue of Satan -- those who falsely claim to be Jews, but are liars,because they are no such thing -- I wil make them come and fal at your feet and recognize that I have lovedyou. |
| 10 יען שמרת דבר סבלנותי אשמרך גם אנכי משעת הנסיון העתידה לבוא על תבל כלה לנסות את ישבי הארץ | 10 Because you have kept my commandment to persevere, I wil keep you safe in the time of trial whichis coming for the whole world, to put the people of the world to the test. |
| 11 הנני בא מהרה החזק באשר לך למען לא יקח איש את נזרך | 11 I am coming soon: hold firmly to what you already have, and let no one take your victor's crown awayfrom you. |
| 12 המנצח אתננו לעמוד בהיכל אלהי ולא יצא עוד החוצה וכתבתי עליו את שם אלהי ואת שם עיר אלהי ירושלים החדשה הירדת משמים מעם אלהי ואת שמי החדש | 12 Anyone who proves victorious I wil make into a pillar in the sanctuary of my God, and it wil stay therefor ever; I wil inscribe on it the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem which is coming down from my God in heaven, and my own new name as wel . |
| 13 מי אשר אזן לו ישמע את אשר הרוח אמר לקהלות | 13 Let anyone who can hear, listen to what the Spirit is saying to the churches." |
| 14 ואל מלאך קהל לודקיא כתב כה אמר האמן העד הנאמן והאמתי ראשית בריאת האלהים | 14 'Write to the angel of the church in Laodicea and say, "Here is the message of the Amen, thetrustworthy, the true witness, the Principle of God's creation: |
| 15 ידעתי את מעשיך כי לא קר ולא חם אתה מי יתן והיית קר או חם | 15 I know about your activities: how you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were one or the other, |
| 16 כי עתה פושר אתה ולא קר ולא חם על כן אקיאך מפי | 16 but since you are neither hot nor cold, but only lukewarm, I will spit you out of my mouth. |
| 17 כי אמרת אך עשרתי מצאתי און לי ולא חסרתי כל ולא ידעת כי אמלל אתה ודוי ועני ועור וערם | 17 You say to yourself: I am rich, I have made a fortune and have everything I want, never realising thatyou are wretchedly and pitiably poor, and blind and naked too. |
| 18 אני איעצך לפנות מאתי זהב צרוף באש למען תעשיר ובגדים לבנים למען תתכסה בהם ולא תראה בשת ערותות ולמשח עיניך קלורית למען תראה | 18 I warn you, buy from me the gold that has been tested in the fire to make you truly rich, and whiterobes to clothe you and hide your shameful nakedness, and ointment to put on your eyes to enable you to see. |
| 19 ]12-02[ אני את כל אשר אהב אוכיחם ואיסרם לכן תשקד ותשוב, הנני עמד לפתח ודפק והיה כי ישמע איש לקולי ופתח הפתח אבוא אליו לסעוד עמו והוא עמדי | 19 I reprove and train those whom I love: so repent in real earnest. |
| 20 ]12-02[ | 20 Look, I am standing at the door, knocking. If one of you hears me cal ing and opens the door, I wilcome in to share a meal at that person's side. |
