1 The inscription of a title to David himself. Preserve me, O Lord, for I have put trust in thee.	1 Ein Lied von David.Behüte mich, Gott, denn bei dir such’ ich Zuflucht!
2 I have said to the Lord, thou art my God, for thou hast no need of my goods.	2 Ich sage zu Gott: »Mein Allherr bist du,es gibt nichts Gutes (oder: kein Glück) für mich außer dir«;
3 To the saints, who are in his land, he hath made wonderful all my desires in them.	3 und von den Heiligen (= Gottgetreuen) im Lande (sag ich): »Dies sind die Edlen, an denen mein ganzes Herz hängt.«
4 Their infirmities were multiplied: afterwards they made haste. I will not gather together their meetings for blood offerings: nor will I be mindful of their names by my lips.	4 Vielfaches Leid erwächst den Verehrern anderer (Götter):ich mag ihre Bluttrankopfer nicht spendenund ihre Namen nicht auf meine Lippen nehmen.
5 The Lord is the portion of my inheritance and of my cup: it is thou that wilt restore my inheritance to me.	5 Der HERR ist mein Erbgut und Becherteil (vgl. 11,6);du bist’s, der mein Los (oder: Erbe) mir sichert.
6 The lines are fallen unto me in goodly places: for my inheritance is goodly to me.	6 Die Meßschnur ist mir gefallen aufs lieblichste (oder: in lieblicher Gegend)ja, mein Erbteil gefällt mir gar wohl.
7 I will bless the Lord, who hath given me understanding: moreover my reins also have corrected me even till night.	7 Ich preise den HERRN, der mich freundlich beraten;auch nächtens mahnt mich mein Herz dazu.
8 I set the Lord always in my sight: for he is at my right hand, that I be not moved.	8 Ich habe den HERRN mir beständig vor Augen gestellt:steht er mir zur Rechten, so wanke ich nicht (vgl. Apg 2,25-28).
9 Therefore my heart hath been glad, and my tongue hath rejoiced: moreover my flesh also shall rest in hope.	9 Drum freut sich mein Herz, und meine Seele frohlockt:auch mein Leib wird sicher wohnen (= bewahrt sein).
10 Because thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; nor wilt then give thy holy one to see corruption.	10 Denn du gibst meine Seele (= mein Leben) dem Totenreich nicht preis,du läßt deinen Frommen nicht schaun die Vernichtung.
11 Thou hast made known to me the ways of life, thou shalt fill me with joy with thy countenance: at thy right hand are delights even to the end.	11 Du weisest mir den Weg des Lebens (oder: zum Leben):vor deinem Angesicht (= bei dir) sind Freuden in Fülleund Segensgaben in deiner Rechten ewiglich.
