1 And after he began to be ninety and nine years old, the Lord appeared to him: and said unto him: I am the Almighty God: walk before me, and be perfect.	1 Abram entrant déjà dans sa quatre-vingt-dix-neuvième année, le Seigneur lui apparut, et lui dit: Je suis le Dieu tout-puissant; marchez devant Moi, et soyez parfait.
2 And I will make my covenant between me and thee: and I will multiply thee exceedingly.	2 Je ferai alliance avec vous, et Je multiplierai votre race jusqu'à l'infini.
3 Abram tell flat on his face.	3 Abram se prosterna le visage à terre.
4 And God said to him: I AM, and my covenant is with thee, and thou shalt be a father. of many nations.	4 Et Dieu lui dit: C'est Moi qui vous parle; Je ferai alliance avec vous, et vous serez le père de nations nombreuses.
5 Neither shall thy name be called any more Abram: but thou shalt be called Abraham: because I have made thee a father of many nations.	5 Vous ne vous appellerez plus Abram, mais vous vous appellerez Abraham; parce que Je vous ai établi pour être le père d'une multitude de nations.
6 And I will make thee increase, exceedingly, and I will make nations of thee, and kings shall come out of thee.	6 Je ferai croître votre race à l'infini; Je vous rendrai chef de nations, et des rois sortiront de vous.
7 And I will establish my covenant between me and thee, and between thy sad after thee in their generations, by a perpetual covenant: to be a God to thee, and to thy seed after thee.	7 J'affermirai Mon alliance avec vous, et après vous avec votre race dans la suite de leurs générations, par un pacte éternel: afin que Je sois votre Dieu, et le Dieu de votre postérité après vous.
8 And I will give to thee, and to thy seed, the land of thy sojournment, all the land of Chanaan for a perpetual possession, and I will be their God.	8 Je vous donnerai, à vous et à votre race, la terre où vous demeurez maintenant comme étranger; tout le pays de Chanaan, comme une possession perpétuelle; et Je serai le Dieu de vos descendants.
9 Again God said to Abraham: And thou therefore shalt keep my covenant, and thy seed after thee in their generations.	9 Dieu dit encore à Abraham: Vous garderez donc aussi Mon alliance, et votre postérité la gardera après vous de race en race.
10 This is my covenant which you shall observe, between me and you, and thy seed after thee: All the male kind of you shall be circumcised:	10 Voici le pacte que Je fais avec vous, afin que vous l'observiez, et votre postérité après vous: Tous les mâles d'entre vous seront circoncis.
11 And you shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin, that it may be for a h sign of the covenant between me and you.	11 Vous circoncirez votre chair, afin que ce soit la marque de l'alliance que Je fais avec vous.
12 An infant of eight days old shall be circumcised among you, every man child in your generations: he that is born in the house, as well as the bought servant shall be circumcised, and whosoever is not of your stock:	12 L'enfant de huit jours sera circoncis parmi vous; et, dans la suite de toutes les générations, tous les enfants mâles, tant les esclaves qui seront nés dans votre maison que tous ceux que vous aurez achetés, et qui ne seront point de votre race, seront circoncis.
13 And my covenant shall be in your flesh for a perpetual covenant.	13 Ce pacte sera marqué dans votre chair, comme le signe d'une alliance éternelle.
14 The male, whose dash of his foreskin shall not be circumcised, that soul shall be destroyed out of his people: because he hath broken my covenant.	14 Tout mâle dont la chair n'aura point circoncise sera exterminé du milieu de son peuple, parce qu'il aura violé Mon alliance.
15 God said also to Abraham: Sarai thy wife thou shalt not call Sarai, but Sara.	15 Dieu dit encore à Abraham: Vous n'appellerez plus votre femme Saraï, mais Sara.
16 And I will bless her, and of her I will give thee a son, whom I will bless, and he shell become nations, and kings of people shall spring from him.	16 Je la bénirai, et Je vous donnerai un fils né d'elle, que Je bénirai aussi: il sera un chef de nations; et des rois de divers peuples sortiront de lui.
17 Abraham fell upon his face, and laughed, saying in his heart: Shall a son, thinkest thou, be born to him that is a hundred years old? and shall Sara that is ninety years old bring forth?	17 Abraham se prosterna le visage contre terre, et il rit en disant au fond de son coeur: Un homme de cent ans aurait-il donc bien un fils? et Sara enfanterait-elle à quatre-vingt-dix ans?
18 And he said to God: O that Ismael may live before thee.	18 Et il dit à Dieu : Faites-moi la grâce qu'Ismaël vive!
19 And God said to Abraham: Sara thy wife shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name Isaac, and I will establish my covenant with him for a perpetual covenant, and with his seed after him.	19 Dieu dit encore à Abraham: Sara votre femme vous enfantera un fils que vous nommerez Isaac, et Je ferai un pacte avec lui, et avec sa race après lui, afin que Mon alliance avec eux soit éternelle.
20 And as for Ismael I have also heard thee. Behold, I will bless him, and increase, and multiply him exceedingly: he shall beget twelve chiefs, and I will make him a great nation.	20 Je vous ai aussi exaucé touchant Ismaël. Je le bénirai, et Je lui donnerai une postérité très grande et très nombreuse. Douze princes sortiront de lui, et Je le rendrai le chef d'un grand peuple.
21 But my covenant I will establish with Isaac, whom Sara shall bring forth to thee at this time in the next year.	21 Mais l'alliance que Je fais avec vous s'établira dans Isaac, que Sara vous enfantera dans un an, au temps actuel.
22 And when he had left oil speaking with him, God went up from Abraham.	22 L'entretien de Dieu avec Abraham étant fini, Dieu Se retira.
23 And Abraham took Ismael his son, and all that were born in his house: and all whom he had bought, every male among the men of his house: and he circumcised the flesh of their foreskin forthwith the very same day, as God had commanded him.	23 Alors Abraham prit Ismaël son fils, et tous les esclaves nés dans sa maison, tous ceux qu'il avait achetés, et généralement tous les mâles qui étaient parmi ses serviteurs, et il les circoncit tous aussitôt en ce même jour, selon que Dieu le lui avait commandé.
24 Abraham was ninety and nine years old, when he circumcised the flesh of his foreskin.	24 Abraham avait quatre-vingt-dix-neuf ans lorsqu'il se circoncit lui-même.
25 And Ismael his son was full thirteen years old at the time of his circumcision.	25 Et Isamaël avait treize ans accomplis, lorsqu'il reçut la circoncision.
26 dummy verses inserted by amos	26 Abraham et son fils Ismaël furent circoncis en un même jour.
27 And all the men of his house, as well they that were born in his house, as the bought servants and strangers were circumcised with him.	27 Et en ce même jour encore furent circoncis tous les mâles de sa maison, tant les esclaves nés chez lui, que ceux qu'il avait achetés, et qui étaient nés en des pays étrangers.
28 The selfsame day was Abraham circumcised and Ismael his son.
