| 1 Por eso, investidos misericordiosamente del ministerio apostólico, no nos desanimamos | 1 Therefore, having this ministry by the mercy of God, we do not lose heart. |
| 2 y nunca hemos callado nada por vergüenza, ni hemos procedido con astucia o falsificando la Palabra de Dios. Por el contrario, manifestando abiertamente la verdad, nos recomendamos a nosotros mismos, delante de Dios, frente a toda conciencia humana. | 2 We have renounced disgraceful, underhanded ways; we refuse to practice cunning or to tamper with God's word, but by the open statement of the truth we would commend ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God. |
| 3 Si nuestro Evangelio todavía resulta impenetrable, lo es sólo para aquellos que se pierden, | 3 And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled only to those who are perishing. |
| 4 para los incrédulos, a quienes el dios de este mundo les ha enceguecido el entendimiento, a fin de que no vean resplandecer el Evangelio de la gloria de Cristo, que es la imagen de Dios. | 4 In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the likeness of God. |
| 5 Porque no nos predicamos a nosotros mismos, sino a Cristo Jesús, el Señor, y nosotros no somos más que servidores de ustedes por amor de Jesús. | 5 For what we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake. |
| 6 Porque el mismo Dios que dijo: «Brille la luz en medio de las tinieblas», es el que hizo brillar su luz en nuestros corazones para que resplandezca el conocimiento de la gloria de Dios, reflejada en el rostro de Cristo. | 6 For it is the God who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. |
| 7 Pero nosotros llevamos ese tesoro en recipientes de barro, para que se vea bien que este poder extraordinario no procede de nosotros, sino de Dios. | 7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, to show that the transcendent power belongs to God and not to us. |
| 8 Estamos atribulados por todas partes, pero no abatidos; perplejos, pero no desesperados; | 8 We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; |
| 9 perseguidos, pero no abandonados; derribados, pero no aniquilados. | 9 persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; |
| 10 Siempre y a todas partes, llevamos en nuestro cuerpo los sufrimientos de la muerte de Jesús, para que también la vida de Jesús se manifieste en nuestro cuerpo. | 10 always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies. |
| 11 Y así aunque vivimos, estamos siempre enfrentando a la muerte por causa de Jesús, para que también la vida de Jesús se manifieste en nuestra carne mortal. | 11 For while we live we are always being given up to death for Jesus' sake, so that the life of Jesus may be manifested in our mortal flesh. |
| 12 De esa manera, la muerte hace su obra en nosotros, y en ustedes, la vida. | 12 So death is at work in us, but life in you. |
| 13 Pero teniendo ese mismo espíritu de fe, del que dice la Escritura: Creí, y por eso hablé, también nosotros creemos, y por lo tanto, hablamos. | 13 Since we have the same spirit of faith as he had who wrote, "I believed, and so I spoke," we too believe, and so we speak, |
| 14 Y nosotros sabemos que aquel que resucitó al Señor Jesús nos resucitará con él y nos reunirá a su lado junto con ustedes. | 14 knowing that he who raised the Lord Jesus will raise us also with Jesus and bring us with you into his presence. |
| 15 Todo esto es por ustedes: para que al abundar la gracia, abunde también el número de los que participan en la acción de gracias para gloria de Dios. | 15 For it is all for your sake, so that as grace extends to more and more people it may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God. |
| 16 Por eso, no nos desanimamos: aunque nuestro hombre exterior se vaya destruyendo, nuestro hombre interior se va renovando día a día. | 16 So we do not lose heart. Though our outer nature is wasting away, our inner nature is being renewed every day. |
| 17 Nuestra angustia, que es leve y pasajera, nos prepara una gloria eterna, que supera toda medida. | 17 For this slight momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, |
| 18 Porque no tenemos puesta la mirada en las cosas visibles, sino en las invisibles: lo que se ve es transitorio, lo que no se ve es eterno. | 18 because we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen; for the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal. |
