| 3 Estos eran los nombres de los hijos de Aarón, los sacerdotes que recibieron la unción y la investidura para ejercer el sacerdocio. | 3 these are the names of the sons of Aaron, the anointed priests, whom he ordained to minister in the priest's office. |
| 4 Nadab y Abihú murieron en la presencia del Señor, cuando presentaron ante él un fuego profano, en el desierto del Sinaí. Y como no tenían hijos, los que ejercieron el sacerdocio delante de Aarón, su padre fueron Eleazar e Itamar. | 4 But Nadab and Abihu died before the LORD when they offered unholy fire before the LORD in the wilderness of Sinai; and they had no children. | 6 Manda a la tribu de Leví que se acerque, y tú la pondrás a disposición del sacerdote Aarón, para servirlo. | 6 "Bring the tribe of Levi near, and set them before Aaron the priest, that they may minister to him. |
| 7 Ellos realizarán tareas para él y para toda la comunidad de Israel, delante de la Carpa del Encuentro, encargándose del servicio de la Morada. | 7 They shall perform duties for him and for the whole congregation before the tent of meeting, as they minister at the tabernacle; |
| 8 Tendrán a su cargo todo el mobiliario de la Carpa del Encuentro y realizarán tareas para los israelitas, encargándose del servicio de la Morada. | 8 they shall have charge of all the furnishings of the tent of meeting, and attend to the duties for the people of Israel as they minister at the tabernacle. |
| 9 Tú pondrás a los levitas a las órdenes de Aarón y de sus hijos: así ellos estarán dedicados a él exclusivamente, de parte de los israelitas. | 9 And you shall give the Levites to Aaron and his sons; they are wholly given to him from among the people of Israel. |
| 10 A Aarón y a sus hijos, en cambio, les encargarás que ejerzan las funciones sacerdotales. Si se acerca un extraño, será castigado con la muerte. | 10 And you shall appoint Aaron and his sons, and they shall attend to their priesthood; but if any one else comes near, he shall be put to death." |

Los levitas me pertenecen, | 12 "Behold, I have taken the Levites from among the people of Israel instead of every first-born that opens the womb among the people of Israel. The Levites shall be mine, |
| 13 porque todo primogénito me pertenece. Cuando exterminé a todos los primogénitos de Egipto, consagré para mí a todos los primogénitos de Israel, hombres y animales, a fin de que fueran míos. Yo soy el Señor. | 13 for all the first-born are mine; on the day that I slew all the first-born in the land of Egypt, I consecrated for my own all the first-born in Israel, both of man and of beast; they shall be mine: I am the LORD." |
| 14 El Señor dijo a Moisés en el desierto del Sinaí: | 14 And the LORD said to Moses in the wilderness of Sinai, |
| 15 Inscribe en un registro, por familias y por clanes, a todos los levitas varones que tengan más de un mes. | 15 "Number the sons of Levi, by fathers' houses and by families; every male from a month old and upward you shall number." |
| 16 Moisés los registró, según la orden que había recibido del Señor. | 16 So Moses numbered them according to the word of the LORD, as he was commanded. |
| 17 Los nombres de los hijos de Leví eran Gersón, Quehat y Merarí. | 17 And these were the sons of Levi by their names: Gershon and Kohath and Merari. |
| 18 Los nombres de los hijos de Gersón, por clanes, eran Ligní y Semei; | 18 And these are the names of the sons of Gershon by their families: Libni and Shime-i. |
| 19 los hijos de Quehat, por clanes, eran Amram, Ishar, Hebrón y Oziel; | 19 And the sons of Kohath by their families: Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel. |
| 20 y los hijos de Merarí, por clanes, eran Majlí y Musí. Los clanes de los levitas, repartidos por familias, eran los siguientes: | 20 And the sons of Merari by their families: Mahli and Mushi. These are the families of the Levites, by their fathers' houses. |

| 38 Al este, frente a la Morada, delante de la Carpa del Encuentro, acampaban Moisés, Aarón y sus hijos, que realizaban las tareas del Santuario, en favor de los israelitas. Cualquier extraño que se acercara debía ser castigado con la muerte. | 38 And those to encamp before the tabernacle on the east, before the tent of meeting toward the sunrise, were Moses and Aaron and his sons, having charge of the rites within the sanctuary, whatever had to be done for the people of Israel; and any one else who came near was to be put to death. |
| 39 Los levitas inscritos –los varones mayores de un mes, que Moisés y Aarón registraron por familias, según la orden del Señor– fueron en total 22.000 hombres. | 39 All who were numbered of the Levites, whom Moses and Aaron numbered at the commandment of the LORD, by families, all the males from a month old and upward, were twenty-two thousand. |
| 40 El Señor dijo a Moisés: Realiza un censo de todos los primogénitos varones entre los israelitas, de la edad de un mes en adelante, llevando cuenta de sus nombres. | 40 And the LORD said to Moses, "Number all the first-born males of the people of Israel, from a month old and upward, taking their number by names. |
| 41 Luego aparta para mía a los levitas –porque yo soy el Señor– en lugar de todos los primogénitos de los israelitas, y aparta también el ganado de los levitas, en lugar de todos los primogénitos del ganado de los israelitas. | 41 And you shall take the Levites for me--I am the LORD--instead of all the first-born among the people of Israel, and the cattle of the Levites instead of all the firstlings among the cattle of the people of Israel." |
| 42 Entones Moisés hizo el censo de todos los primogénitos entre los israelitas, como el Señor se lo había ordenado. | 42 So Moses numbered all the first-born among the people of Israel, as the LORD commanded him. |
| 43 Los primogénitos varones de un mes en adelante que fueron registrados eran en total 22.273 hombres. | 43 And all the first-born males, according to the number of names, from a month old and upward as numbered were twenty-two thousand two hundred and seventy-three. |
| 44 Luego el Señor dijo a Moisés: | 44 And the LORD said to Moses, |
| 45 Aparta a los levitas en lugar de todos los primogénitos israelitas, y aparta también el ganado de los israelitas. Los levitas serán para mí: yo soy el Señor. | 45 "Take the Levites instead of all the first-born among the people of Israel, and the cattle of the Levites instead of their cattle; and the Levites shall be mine: I am the LORD. |
| 46 Y como precio del rescate por los doscientos setenta y tres primogénitos israelitas que exceden el número de los levitas, | 46 And for the redemption of the two hundred and seventy-three of the first-born of the people of Israel, over and above the number of the male Levites, |
| 47 toma cinco siclos por cabeza –en siclos del Santuario, teniendo en cuenta que cada siclo equivale a veinte gueras– | 47 you shall take five shekels apiece; reckoning by the shekel of the sanctuary, the shekel of twenty gerahs, you shall take them, |
| 48 y entrega ese dinero a Aarón y a sus hijos, como precio de rescate por la diferencia. | 48 and give the money by which the excess number of them is redeemed to Aaron and his sons." |
| 49 Moisés tomó el dinero del rescate por aquellos primogénitos, que excedían a los rescatados por los levitas, | 49 So Moses took the redemption money from those who were over and above those redeemed by the Levites; |
| 50 recibió el dinero de los primogénitos israelitas –1.365 siclos, en siclos del Santuario– | 50 from the first-born of the people of Israel he took the money, one thousand three hundred and sixty-five shekels, reckoned by the shekel of the sanctuary; |
| 51 y entregó el dinero del rescate a Aarón y a sus hijos, según la orden que Moisés había recibido del Señor. | 51 and Moses gave the redemption money to Aaron and his sons, according to the word of the LORD, as the LORD commanded Moses. |
