1 Toute la communauté des Israélites se réunit à Silo, et là, ils dressèrent la Tente de Réunion. Le pays leur était soumis.	1 Then the whole congregation of the people of Israel assembled at Shiloh, and set up the tent of meeting there; the land lay subdued before them.
2 Sept tribus parmi les Israélites n’avaient pas encore reçu leur héritage.	2 There remained among the people of Israel seven tribes whose inheritance had not yet been apportioned.
3 Josué dit alors aux Israélites: “Combien de temps allez-vous attendre encore pour conquérir le pays que Yahvé, le Dieu de vos pères, vous a donné?	3 So Joshua said to the people of Israel, "How long will you be slack to go in and take possession of the land, which the LORD, the God of your fathers, has given you?
4 Désignez trois hommes par tribu: je les enverrai parcourir tout le pays, ils en feront un état en vue du partage, puis ils reviendront vers moi.	4 Provide three men from each tribe, and I will send them out that they may set out and go up and down the land, writing a description of it with a view to their inheritances, and then come to me.
5 Ils le diviseront en sept parts, car Juda restera au sud dans ses frontières et la maison de Joseph, au nord dans ses frontières.	5 They shall divide it into seven portions, Judah continuing in his territory on the south, and the house of Joseph in their territory on the north.
6 Quand vous aurez établi un état du pays en sept parts, vous me l’apporterez et je ferai le tirage au sort pour vous devant Yahvé notre Dieu.	6 And you shall describe the land in seven divisions and bring the description here to me; and I will cast lots for you here before the LORD our God.
7 Il n’y aura pas de part pour les Lévites au milieu de vous, car le service de Yahvé est leur héritage. Quant à Gad, Ruben et la demi-tribu de Manassé, ils ont déjà reçu leur héritage de l’autre côté du Jourdain, à l’est: Moïse, le serviteur de Yahvé, le leur a donné.”	7 The Levites have no portion among you, for the priesthood of the LORD is their heritage; and Gad and Reuben and half the tribe of Manasseh have received their inheritance beyond the Jordan eastward, which Moses the servant of the LORD gave them."
8 Les hommes se levèrent donc et se mirent en route. Josué leur avait donné ses instructions au moment du départ pour qu’ils fassent un état du pays: “Allez! Parcourez le pays, décrivez-le et revenez auprès de moi. Alors je jetterai pour vous les sorts, ici à Silo, devant Yahvé.”	8 So the men started on their way; and Joshua charged those who went to write the description of the land, saying, "Go up and down and write a description of the land, and come again to me; and I will cast lots for you here before the LORD in Shiloh."
9 Les hommes partirent et parcoururent le pays. Ils firent par écrit la description du pays et de ses villes: l’ensemble était divisé en sept parts. Ensuite ils retournèrent auprès de Josué, au camp de Silo.	9 So the men went and passed up and down in the land and set down in a book a description of it by towns in seven divisions; then they came to Joshua in the camp at Shiloh,
10 Là, à Silo, Josué jeta pour eux les sorts, en présence de Yahvé. C’est là que Josué répartit le pays entre les Israélites.	10 and Joshua cast lots for them in Shiloh before the LORD; and there Joshua apportioned the land to the people of Israel, to each his portion.
11 Le premier lot fut pour les clans de Benjamin et ils reçurent par le sort un territoire situé entre celui de Juda et celui de Joseph.	11 The lot of the tribe of Benjamin according to its families came up, and the territory allotted to it fell between the tribe of Judah and the tribe of Joseph.
12 Au nord, leur frontière partait du Jourdain; elle montait sur le versant de Jéricho et se prolongeait dans la montagne à l’ouest pour aboutir au désert de Beth-Aven.	12 On the north side their boundary began at the Jordan; then the boundary goes up to the shoulder north of Jericho, then up through the hill country westward; and it ends at the wilderness of Beth-aven.
13 La frontière partait de là vers Louz sur son versant méridional (aujourd’hui c’est Béthel); elle descendait vers Atrot-Arak par la montagne qui est au sud de Beth-Horon-le-Bas.	13 From there the boundary passes along southward in the direction of Luz, to the shoulder of Luz (the same is Bethel), then the boundary goes down to Ataroth-addar, upon the mountain that lies south of Lower Beth-horon.
14 La frontière s’avançait encore vers l’ouest, puis tournait vers le sud, depuis la montagne qui est en face de Beth-Horon au sud, pour aboutir dans les environs de Kiryat-Baal (aujourd’hui Kiryat-Yéarim, une ville de la tribu de Juda). Voilà pour le côté ouest.	14 Then the boundary goes in another direction, turning on the western side southward from the mountain that lies to the south, opposite Beth-horon, and it ends at Kiriath-baal (that is, Kiriath-jearim), a city belonging to the tribe of Judah. This forms the western side.
15 Au sud, partant de Kiryat-Yéarim, la frontière s’en allait vers Gasin, passait près de la source des eaux de Neftoa,	15 And the southern side begins at the outskirts of Kiriath-jearim; and the boundary goes from there to Ephron, to the spring of the Waters of Nephtoah;
16 puis elle descendait à l’extrémité de la montagne, en face de la vallée de Ben-Hinnom, dans la partie nord de la plaine des Réphaïm. Ensuite elle descendait la vallée de Hinnom, passait sur le versant sud des Jébusites, pour arriver à En-Roguel.	16 then the boundary goes down to the border of the mountain that overlooks the valley of the son of Hinnom, which is at the north end of the valley of Rephaim; and it then goes down the valley of Hinnom, south of the shoulder of the Jebusites, and downward to En-rogel;
17 Alors elle repartait vers le nord, passait à En-Chémech, au Guilgal qui fait face à la montée d’Adoummim, puis descendait à la Pierre de Bohan (Bohan était fils de Ruben).	17 then it bends in a northerly direction going on to En-shemesh, and thence goes to Geliloth, which is opposite the ascent of Adummim; then it goes down to the Stone of Bohan the son of Reuben;
18 Elle passait ensuite à Kétef sur le versant nord de Beth-Ha-Arama et descendait alors vers la Araba.	18 and passing on to the north of the shoulder of Beth-arabah it goes down to the Arabah;
19 La frontière passait sur le versant nord de Beth-Ogla et se terminait avec la partie nord de la Mer du Sel, près de l’embouchure du Jourdain. C’était la frontière sud.	19 then the boundary passes on to the north of the shoulder of Beth-hoglah; and the boundary ends at the northern bay of the Salt Sea, at the south end of the Jordan: this is the southern border.
20 À l’est, le Jourdain servait de frontière. Voilà l’héritage des clans de Benjamin avec ses frontières.	20 The Jordan forms its boundary on the eastern side. This is the inheritance of the tribe of Benjamin, according to its families, boundary by boundary round about.
21 Voici les villes des clans de Benjamin: Jéricho, Beth-Hogla, Émek-Késis,	21 Now the cities of the tribe of Benjamin according to their families were Jericho, Beth-hoglah, Emek-keziz,
22 Beth-Ha-Araba, Sémarayim, Béthel,	22 Beth-arabah, Zemaraim, Bethel,
23 Avvim, Para, Ofra,	23 Avvim, Parah, Ophrah,
24 Kéfar-Ha-Ammoni, Ofni, Gaba: 12 villes et leurs villages.	24 Chephar-ammoni, Ophni, Geba--twelve cities with their villages:
25 Gabaon, Rama, Béérot,	25 Gibeon, Ramah, Be-eroth,
26 Mispa, Kéfira, Mosa,	26 Mizpeh, Chephirah, Mozah,
27 Rékem, Yirpéel, Taréala,	27 Rekem, Irpeel, Taralah,
28 Séla-Ha-Éléf, le Jébusite (c’est Jérusalem), Guibéa et Kiryat: 14 villes et leurs villages. Voilà l’héritage des clans de Benjamin.	28 Zela, Ha-eleph, Jebus (that is, Jerusalem), Gibe-ah and Kiriath-jearim--fourteen cities with their villages. This is the inheritance of the tribe of Benjamin according to its families.
