1 Noi volgendoci andainmo per la via di Basan; e uscì fuori contro a noi Og re di Basan, con tutto il suo popolo, a combattere contro a noi in (una con trada che si chiama) Edrai.	1 “And so, having turned back, we ascended by the way of Bashan. And Og, the king of Bashan, went forth with his people to meet us in warfare at Edrei.
2 E Iddio mi disse: non avere paura di lui, imperciò ch' egli è dato pregione nelle tue mani con tutto il suo popolo e con tutta la sua terra; fa che tu gli facci, come tu facesti a Seon re degli Amorrei il quale abitò in Esebon.	2 And the Lord said to me: ‘You should not fear him. For he has been delivered into your hand, with all his people as well as his land. And you shall do to him just as you have done to Sihon, the king of the Amorites, who lived at Heshbon.’
3 E anco ci diede Iddio, nostro Signore, nelle mani nostre Og re di Basan con tutto quanto il popolo e la gente sua; e sì gli uccidemmo, insino che furono consumati tutti e spenti,	3 Therefore, the Lord our God delivered into our hands, now Og, the king of Bashan, and all his people. And we struck them down unto utter annihilation,
4 guastando tutte le cose e cittadi sue in uno tempo; non fue castello alcuno il quale potesse scampare dinnanzi da noi; sessanta cittadi, e tutta l'altra contrada di Argob del regno di Og, insino a Basan.	4 laying waste to all his cities at one time. There was not a village which escaped from us: sixty cities, the entire region of Argob, the kingdom of Og, in Bashan.
5 Tutte quante le cittadi erano acconcie e armate di mura altissime, di porte con le sue serrature, senza le castella infinite che non aveano mura.	5 All the cities were fortified with very high walls, and with gates and bars, in addition to innumerable villages which had no walls.
6 E tutte le desfacemmo, sì come aveamo fatto a Seon re di Esebon, cacciando in terra ogni cittade e gli uomini, e le femine e piccoli (e garzoni).	6 And we wiped them out, just as we had done to Sihon, the king of Heshbon, destroying every city, and its men, as well as women and children.
7 Il bestiame e la robba loro sì ci togliemmo.	7 But the cattle and the spoils of the cities, we plundered.
8 Togliemmo anco, in quello tempo, la terra di mano di due re degli Amorrei, i quali erano di là dal Giordano, dal torrente (dell' acqua) di Arnon insino al monte di Ermon;	8 And at that time, we took the land from the hand of the two kings of the Amorites, who were across the Jordan: from the torrent Arnon as far as Mount Hermon,
9 i quali i Sidoni chiamano SARION; e gli Amor rei si chiamano SANIR;	9 which the Sidonians call Sirion, and the Amorites call Senir,
10 e tutte quante le cittadi che sono edificate nel piano, e tutta la terra di Galaad e di Basan insino a Selca e a Edrai, cittadi del reame di Og in Basan.	10 all the cities that are situated in the plain, and the entire land of Gilead and Bashan, all the way to Salecah and Edrei, cities of the kingdom of Og in Bashan.
11 Solamente Og re di Basan ci contrastoe, ch' era della schiatta de' giganti; onde si mostra il suo letto di ferro, il quale è in Rabbat de' figliuoli di Ammon, che è di misura di nove cùbiti (che si fanno dell' uno gomito all'altro, congiugnendo le mani al petto, ovver come dicono alcuni altri, dal gòmito insino alla punta di mezzo); in uno di questi modi era grande il letto di costui, e largo quattro, a misura di gòmito fatto con mano d'uomo.	11 For only Og, the king of Bashan, was left behind out of the race of the giants. His bed of iron is on display, (it is in Rabbah, among the sons of Ammon) being nine cubits in length, and four in width, according to the measure of the cubit of a man’s hand.
12 In quello tempo noi possedemmo la terra da Aroer, il quale è sopra la ripa del torrente (dell' acqua) di Arnon, insino alla metade del monte di Galaad; e le sue cittadi diedi a Ruben e a Gad.	12 And we possessed the land, at that time, from Aroer, which is above the bank of the torrent Arnon, as far as the middle of Mount Gilead. And I gave its cities to Ruben and Gad.
13 E tutta quanta l'altra parte di Galaad, e tutto Basan del reame di Og, diedi alla mezza tribù (e alla schiatta) di Manasse, e tutta la contrada di Argob; e tutto Basan si chiama terra de' giganti.	13 Then I delivered the remaining part of Gilead, and all of Bashan, the kingdom of Og, which is the entire region of Argob, to one half of the tribe of Manasseh. And all of Bashan is called the land of the giants.
14 Iair, figliuolo di Manasse, sì possedette tutta la contrada di Argob, insino a' confini di Gessuri e di Macati; e sì la chiamò, secondo il nome suo che le puose nome a Basan, AVOTIAIR, cioè ville di lair, insino al dì presente.	14 Jair, the son of Manasseh, possessed all the region of Argob, as far as the borders of Geshur and Maacath. And he called Bashan by his own name, Havvoth Jair, that is, the villages of Jair, even to the present day.
15 A Machir io si diedi Galaad.	15 Likewise, to Machir, I gave Gilead.
16 E alle schiatte di Ruben e di Gad diedi la terra di Galaad, insino al torrente (dell' acqua) di Arnon, e mezzo del torrente (dell' acqua), e de' confini insino al torrente (dell' acqua) di Ieboc, il quale è termine de' figliuoli di Ammon.	16 And to the tribes of Ruben and Gad, I gave from the land of Gilead as far as the torrent Arnon, one half of the torrent and its confines, even to the torrent Jabbok, which is along the border of the sons of Ammon,
17 E anco diedi loro il piano della solitudine e il fiume) Giordano e i confini di Ceneret, insino al mare del deserto il quale si è molto salso, alle radici (e a' piè) del monte Fasga contro all'oriente (dove il sole si leva).	17 and the plain of the wilderness, as well as the Jordan, and the borders of Chinnereth, all the way to the sea of the desert, which is very salty, to the base of Mount Pisgah toward the east.
18 E in quello tempo vi comandai, e dissi: Iddio, vostro Signore, sì vi dà questa terra, che ne siate eredi; spacciatamente e acconci (e assettati e armati) andate innanzi a' vostri fratelli, figliuoli d'Israel.	18 And I instructed you at that time, saying: ‘The Lord your God gives to you this land as an inheritance. Having armed yourselves, go before your brothers, the sons of Israel, all you strong men.
19 E vadanci tutti uomini forti, sanza loro figliuoli piccoli, e sanza le mogli, bestiami e animali. Io so e cognosco che voi avete molto grande be stiame, il quale dee rimanere nelle vostre cittade (e ville) le quali Iddio vi diede.	19 Leave behind your wives and little ones, as well as the cattle. For I know that you have many cattle, and they should remain in the cities which I have delivered to you,
20 Insino a tanto istate, che Iddio avrà dato riposo a vostri fratelli, sì come egli l'hae dato a voi; acciò che loro (abitino e) posseggano la terra la quale Iddio dee dare a loro di là dal (fiume) Giordano; e allora tornerà [ ciascuno ] alla sua possessione (e terra), la quale io vi diedi.	20 until the Lord provides rest to your brothers, just as he has provided for you. And they, too, shall possess the land, which he will give to them beyond the Jordan. Then each one shall return to his possession, which I have allotted to you.’
21 Poi in quello tempo io comandai a Iosuè, e dissi: vidder gli occhi tuoi quello che Iddio, Signore nostro, fece a questi due re (nominati di sopra); e così farà a tutti quanti i regni a' quali tu dei passare.	21 Likewise, I instructed Joshua at that time, saying: ‘Your eyes have seen what the Lord your God has done to these two kings. So also will he do to all the kingdoms through which you shall pass.
22 Non avere paura di loro; imperciò che Iddio, tuo Signore, combatterà per voi.	22 You should not fear them. For the Lord your God will fight on your behalf.’
23 E in quello tempo io pregai (e feci orazioni) a Dio, e dissi:	23 And I beseeched the Lord at that time, saying:
24 Signore Iddio, incominciasti a dimostrare al tuo servo la tua grandezza e la tua mano fortissima; imperciò che non è altro Iddio, nè in cielo nè in terra, che possa fare le tue operazioni (le quali tu fai), e che si possa agguagliare alla tua fortezza.	24 ‘Lord God, you have begun to reveal your greatness and your very strong hand to your servant. For there is no other god, either in heaven or on earth, who is able to accomplish your works, or to be compared to your strength.
25 Ed ecco, ch' io passerò, e vederò questa terra ottima di là dal (fiume) Giordano, e questo bel monte e quello di Libano.	25 Therefore, I will cross over, and I will view this excellent land beyond the Jordan, and this singular mountain, and Lebanon.’
26 E Iddio (si turbò meco, e) adirossi contro a me solo per voi, e non volse udire il mio priego, ma disse: bastati, non parlar più oltre di questa cosa a me.	26 And the Lord became angry with me because of you, and he would not heed me. But he said to me: ‘It is enough for you. You shall no longer speak to me at all about this matter.
27 Sali in su la cima del monte di Fasga, (e guarda) e mena intorno gli occhii tuoi all'occidente (dove tramonta il sole) ad aquilone e al mezzo di e all'oriente, e vedi; però che tu non passerai questo (aume) Giordano.	27 Ascend to the summit of Pisgah, and look around with your eyes to the west, and to the north, and to the south, and to the east, and behold it. For you shall not cross this Jordan.
28 Comanda a Iosuè, e sì lo fortifica e con forta; imperciò ch' egli anderà innanzi (ai figliuoli d'Israel e) a questo popolo, e dividerà la terra la quale tu dèi vedere.	28 Instruct Joshua, and encourage and strengthen him. For he shall go before this people, and he shall distribute to them the land that you will see.’
29 E istemmo contro al tempio dell' idolo Fogor in una valle.	29 And we remained in the valley, opposite the shrine of Peor.”
