BIBBIA VOLGARE	DOUAI-RHEIMS
1 Questa è la visione di Abdia (profeta). Questo dice lo Signore Iddio a Edom: noi udimmo dire questo da Dio (ad Edom), e mandollo a dire alle genti: levatevi suso, e leviamoci suso contro a lui nella battaglia.	1 The vision of Abdias. Thus saith the Lord God to Edom: We have heard a rumour from the Lord, and he hath sent an ambassador to the nations: Arise, and let us rise up to battle against him.
2 Ecco, io t' hoe fatto piccolo tra le genti; e hotti fatto dispregevole troppo.	2 Behold I have made thee small among the nations: thou art exceeding contemptible.
3 La superbia del tuo cuore ha tolto te, che abitavi nelle fessure delle pietre, ed esaltavi la tua sedia; il quale dice nel tuo cuore: chi mi tirerà in terra?	3 The pride of thy heart hath lifted thee up, who dwellest in the clefts of the rocks, and settest up thy throne on high: who sayest in thy heart: Who shall bring me down to the ground ?
4 Se tu sarai esaltato come l' aquila, e se tu averai posto tra le stelle lo tuo nido, io ti trarrò indi, dice lo Signore Iddio.	4 Though thou be exalted as an eagle, and though thou set thy nest among the stars: thence will I bring thee down, saith the Lord.
5 Se li rubatori fussono entrati a te, se li ladroni di notte dentro, come tu averesti taciuto? Or non averebbono loro rubato tanto che sarebbe loro bastato? E se li vendemmiatori fussono entrati a te, non ti averebbono lasciati almeno li racemi?	5 If thieves had gone in to thee, if robbers by night, how wouldst thou have held thy peace? would they not have stolen till they had enough ? if the grapegatherers had come in to thee, would they not have left thee at the least a cluster?
6 A quel modo che cercarono Esaù, ritrovarono li suoi luoghi ascosti?	6 How have they searched Esau, how have they sought out his hidden things?
7 E cacciarono te insino al termine; tutti gli uomini del tuo patto ischernirono te (e la tua regione e soperchiarono te e la tua regione), e soperchiarono te li uomini della tua pace, i quali manicarono teco; e porranno li agguati sopra te; e in lui non è sapienza.	7 They have sent thee out even to the border: all the men of thy confederacy have deceived thee: the men of thy peace have prevailed against thee: they that eat with thee shall lay snares under thee: there is no wisdom in him.
8 Dice le Signore: or non ucciderò io in quello dì tutti li savi di Idumea, e la prudenza del monte di Esaù?	8 Shall not I in that day, saith the Lord, destroy the wise out of Edom, and understanding out of the mount of Esau ?
9 Eli tuoi forti temeranno lo mezzodì, acciò che muoia l'uomo del monte di Esan.	9 And thy valiant men of the south shall be afraid, that man may be cut off from the mount of Esau.
10 Per la uccisione, e per la malvagitade che facesti contro al tuo fratello Iacob, la confusione coprirà te, e perirai in eterno.	10 For the slaughter, and for the iniquity against thy brother Jacob, confusion shall cover thee, and thou shalt perish for ever.
11 Conciosia cosa che tu istèssi contro a lui, quando li stranieri pigliavano lo suo esèrcito, e li stranieri entravano nelle sue porte, e metteano le sorti sopra Ierusalem; e tu eri quasi come uno di loro.	11 In the day when thou stoodest against him, when strangers carried away his army captive, and foreigners entered into his gates, and cast lots upon Jerusalem: thou also wast as one of them.
12 E tu non dispregerai nel dì del tuo fratello, e nel dì della sua peregrinazione; e non ti rallegrerai sopra li figliuoli di Giuda nel dì della loro morte; e non magnificherai la tua bocca nel dì della angoscia.	12 But thou shalt not look on in the day of thy brother, in the day of his leaving his country: and thou shalt not rejoice over the children of Juda, in the day of their destruction: and thou shalt not magnify thy mouth in the day of distress.
13 E non entrerai nella porta del mio popolo nel dì della rovina loro; e non dispregerai tu ne' suoi mali nel dì del suo guastamento;	13 Neither shalt thou enter into the gate of my people in the day of their ruin: neither shalt thou also look on in his evils in the day of his calamity: and thou shalt not be sent out against his army in the day of his desolation.
14 E non istarai nelli passi delle vie per uccidere coloro che saranno fuggiti, e non richiuderai lo suo rimanente (cioè di Iacob) nel dì della tribulazione.	14 Neither shalt thou stand in the crossways to kill them that flee: and thou shalt not shut up them that remain of him in the day of tribulation.
15 Però che lo dì del Signore è presso sopra tutte le genti; e come tu facesti altrui, così sarà fatto a te; e convertirà la tua retribuzione nel tuo capo.	15 For the day of the Lord is at hand upon all nations: as thou hast done, so shall it be done to thee: he will turn thy reward upon thy own head.
16 E sì come voi bevesti sopra lo mio santo monte, così beranno tutte le genti insieme; e beranno, sorbiranno e saranno sì come se non fussono state.	16 For as you have drunk upon my holy mountain, so all nations shall drink continually: and they shall drink, and sup up, and they shall be as though they were not.
17 E nel monte di Sion sarà lo salvamento, e sarà santo; e la casa di Iacob possederà le genti che aveano posseduto lui.	17 And in mount Sion shall be salvation, and it shall be holy, and the house of Jacob shall possess those that possessed them.
18 E la casa di Iacob sarà fuoco, e la casa di Iosef sarà fiamma, e la casa di Esaù sarà la stipa; e saranno arse in loro, e divoreranno lui; e non saranno in lui reliquie, però che lo Signore hae parlato.	18 And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau stubble: and they shall be kindled in them, and shall devour them: and there shall be no remains of the house of Esau, for the Lord hath spoken it.
19 Ed erediteranno coloro che sono verso la parte d'austro, e che istanno sopra lo monte di Esaù, e quelli che stanno ne' campi de' Filistei; e possederanno la contrada di Efraim e la contrada di Samaria; e Beniamin possederà Galaad.	19 And they that are toward the south, shall inherit the mount of Esau, and they that are in the plains, the Philistines: and they shall possess the country of Ephraim, and the country of Samaria: and Benjamin shall possess Galaad.
20 E la trasmigrazione di questo esèrcito dei figliuoli d' Israel sarà insino a tutti i luoghi de' Cananei insino a Sarepta (cioè una contrada di quelli che si chiamano Sidoni); e la transmigrazione di Ierusalem, la quale è in Bosforo (cioè in quella contrada, quella transmigrazione) possederà le cittadi d'austro.	20 And the captivity of this host of the children of Israel, all the places of the Chanaanites even to Sarepta: and the captivity of Jerusalem that is in Bosphorus, shall possess the cities of the south.
21 E li salvatori saliranno nel monte di Sion a giudicare lo monte d' Esaù; e sarà lo reame al Signore.	21 And saviours shall come up into mount Sion to judge the mount of Esau: and the kingdom shall be for the Lord.
