Isaías 43

SAGRADA BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 E agora, eis o que diz o Senhor, aquele que te criou, Jacó, e te formou, Israel: Nada temas, pois eu te resgato, eu te chamo pelo nome, és meu.	1 And now, thus says Yahweh, he who created you, Jacob, who formed you, Israel: Do not be afraid, for Ihave redeemed you; I have cal ed you by your name, you are mine.
2 Se tiveres de atravessar a água, estarei contigo. E os rios não te submergirão; se caminhares pelo fogo, não te queimarás, e a chama não te consumirá.	2 Should you pass through the waters, I shall be with you; or through rivers, they will not swal ow you up.Should you walk through fire, you wil not suffer, and the flame wil not burn you.
3 Pois eu sou o Senhor, teu Deus, o Santo de Israel, teu salvador. Dou o Egito por teu resgate, a Etiópia e Sabá em compensação.	3 For I am Yahweh, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Saviour. I have given Egypt for your ransom,Cush and Seba in exchange for you.
4 Porque és precioso a meus olhos, porque eu te aprecio e te amo, permuto reinos por ti, entrego nações em troca de ti.	4 Since I regard you as precious, since you are honoured and I love you, I therefore give people inexchange for you, and nations in return for your life.
5 Fica, tranqüilo, pois estou contigo, do oriente trarei tua raça, e do ocidente eu te reunirei.	5 Do not be afraid, for I am with you. I shal bring your offspring from the east, and gather you from thewest.
6 Devolve-os!, direi ao setentrião e ao meio-dia: Não os retenhas! Traze meus filhos das longínquas paragens, e minhas filhas dos confins da terra;	6 To the north I shal say, 'Give them up!' and to the south, 'Do not hold them back!' Bring back my sonsfrom far away, and my daughters from the remotest part of the earth,
7 todos aqueles que trazem meu nome, e que criei para minha glória.	7 everyone who bears my name, whom I have created for my glory, whom I have formed, whom I havemade.
8 Fazei comparecer o povo cego apesar de ter olhos, e os surdos que têm ouvidos!	8 Bring forward the people that is blind, yet has eyes, that is deaf and yet has ears.
9 Que todas as nações se congreguem e que os povos se reúnam! Quem dentre eles soube predizer o que se passa, e foi o primeiro que no-lo fez saber? Que apresentem suas testemunhas para justificar suas pretensões, que sejam ouvidas para que se possa dizer: É exato.	9 Let al the nations assemble, let the peoples gather here! Which of them has proclaimed this andrevealed things to us in the past? Let them bring their witnesses to justify themselves, let others hear and say, 'Itis true.'
10 Vós sois minhas testemunhas, diz o Senhor, e meus servos que eu escolhi, a fim de que se reconheça e que me acreditem e que se compreenda que sou eu. Nenhum deus foi formado antes de mim, e não haverá outros depois de mim.	10 You yourselves are my witnesses, declares Yahweh, and the servant whom I have chosen, so thatyou may know and believe me and understand that it is I. No god was formed before me, nor wil be after me.
11 Fui eu, sou eu o Senhor, não há outro salvador a não ser eu.	11 I, I am Yahweh, and there is no other Saviour but me.
12 Sou eu quem predisse e salvei, e não um deus estranho entre vós. Vós sois minhas testemunhas, diz o Senhor, eu sou Deus	12 I have revealed, have saved, and have proclaimed, not some foreigner among you. You are mywitnesses, declares Yahweh, I am God,
13 desde toda a eternidade. Ninguém poderia escapar de minha mão; quando executo, quem poderia destruir minha obra?	13 yes, from eternity I am. No one can deliver from my hand; when I act, who can thwart me?
14 Eis o que diz o Senhor, vosso Redentor, o Santo de Israel: Por vossa causa, envio a Babilônia, a fim de fazer cair os ferrolhos dos cárceres, e os caldeus lamentar-se-ão em altos brados.	14 Thus says Yahweh, your redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: For your sake I have sent to Babylon, Ishall knock down al the prison bars, and the Chaldaeans' shouts of joy wil change to lamentations.
15 Eu sou o Senhor, vosso Santo, o criador de Israel, vosso rei.	15 I am Yahweh, your Holy One, the Creator of Israel, your king.
16 Eis o que diz o Senhor que abriu uma passagem através do mar, um caminho em meio às ondas,	16 Thus says Yahweh, who made a way through the sea, a path in the raging waters,
17 que pôs em campo carros e cavalos, a tropa de soldados e chefes: eles caíram então para nunca mais se levantar; Extinguiram-se como um pavio de vela.	17 who led out chariot and horse together with an army of picked troops: they lay down never to riseagain, they were snuffed out, put out like a wick.
18 Não vos lembreis mais dos acontecimentos de outrora, não recordeis mais as coisas antigas,	18 No need to remember past events, no need to think about what was done before.
19 porque eis que vou fazer obra nova, a qual já surge: não a vedes? Vou abrir uma via pelo deserto, e fazer correr arroios pela estepe.	19 Look, I am doing something new, now it emerges; can you not see it? Yes, I am making a road in thedesert and rivers in wastelands.
20 Dar-me-ão glória os animais selvagens, os chacais e as avestruzes, pois terei feito jorrar água no deserto, e correr arroios na estepe, para saciar a sede de meu povo, meu eleito;	20 The wild animals wil honour me, the jackals and the ostriches, for bestowing water in the desert andrivers on the wastelands for my people, my chosen one, to drink.
21 o povo, que formei para mim, contará meus feitos.	21 The people I have shaped for myself wil broadcast my praises.
22 No entanto, não foste tu que me chamaste, Jacó, tu não te fatigaste por mim, Israel.	22 But, Jacob, you have not invoked me; no, Israel, you have grown weary of me.
23 Não me ofereceste carneiros em holocausto, nem me honraste com sacrifícios; não cobrei de ti um pesado imposto em oblações, nem te sobrecarreguei exigindo incenso.	23 You have not brought me lambs as your burnt offerings and have not honoured me with yoursacrifices. I have not subjected you to cereal offering, I have not wearied you by demanding incense.
24 Não me compraste, a preço alto, cana perfumada, nem me fartaste com a gordura das vítimas. Mas me atormentaste com teus pecados, cansaste-me com tuas iniqüidades.	24 You have not bought expensive reed for me or sated me with the fat of your sacrifices. Instead byyour sins you have trected me like a slave, you have wearied me with your crimes,
25 Sempre sou eu quem deve apagar tuas faltas, e não mais me lembrar de teus pecados.	25 I, I it is who blot out your acts of revolt for my own sake and shal not cal your sins to mind.
26 Refresca tua memória e discutamos: apresenta tuas contas, para te justificar!	26 Remind me, and we will judge this together; state your own case and justify yourself.
27 Já teu primeiro pai pecou, teus representantes me ofenderam,	27 Your first ancestor sinned, your interpreters revolted against me.
28 teus príncipes profanaram meu santuário. Então entreguei Jacó ao anátema e Israel às injúrias.	28 That is why I deposed the chief men of my sanctuary, why I put Jacob under the curse of destructionand subjected Israel to insult.
