1 - Il regno de' cieli è simile a un padre di famiglia, il quale sul far del giorno uscì ad assoldare operai per la sua vigna;	1 “The kingdom of heaven is like the father of a family who went out in early morning to lead workers into his vineyard.
2 dove li mandò dopo aver pattuito coi lavoratori un danaro al giorno.	2 Then, having made an agreement with the workers for one denarius per day, he sent them into his vineyard.
3 Uscito verso l'ora terza ne vide altri che se ne stavan sulla piazza sfaccendati,	3 And going out about the third hour, he saw others standing idle in the marketplace.
4 e disse loro: - Andate anche voi nella vigna, poi vi darò quello che sarà giusto.-	4 And he said to them, ‘You may go into my vineyard, too, and what I will give you will be just.’
5 Ed essi andarono. Uscito di nuovo verso la sesta e la nona ora, fece lo stesso.	5 So they went forth. But again, he went out about the sixth, and about the ninth hour, and he acted similarly.
6 Uscito ancora verso la undecima ne trovò altri che se ne stavano colà e chiese loro: - Ma perchè state qui tutto il giorno senza far nulla? -	6 Yet truly, about the eleventh hour, he went out and found others standing, and he said to them, ‘Why have you stood here idle all day?’
7 Essi gli risposero: - Perchè nessuno ci ha presi a giornata. - Ed egli disse loro: - Andate anche voi nella mia vigna. -	7 They say to him, ‘Because no one has hired us.’ He said to them, ‘You also may go into my vineyard.’
8 Venuta la sera il padrone della vigna disse al suo fattore: - Chiama gli operai e dà loro la paga, cominciando dagli ultimi fino ai primi. -	8 And when evening had arrived, the lord of the vineyard said to his manager, ‘Call the workers and pay them their wages, beginning from the last, even to the first.’
9 Vennero quelli dell'undecima ora e ricevettero un danaro per uno.	9 And so, when those who had arrived about the eleventh hour came forward, each received a single denarius.
10 Poi vennero i primi, i quali si pensavano di ricevere di più; ma ricevettero anch'essi un danaro per uno.	10 Then when the first ones also came forward, they considered that they would receive more. But they, too, received one denarius.
11 Nel riceverlo mormoravano contro il padre di famiglia,	11 And upon receiving it, they murmured against the father of the family,
12 dicendo: - Questi ultimi han lavorato un'ora sola, e li hai trattati come noi, che abbiam portato il peso della giornata e del caldo. -	12 saying, ‘These last have worked for one hour, and you have made them equal to us, who worked bearing the weight and heat of the day.’
13 Ma egli rispose a un di loro: - Amico, non ti fo torto; non hai pattuito con me per un danaro?	13 But responding to one of them, he said: ‘Friend, I caused you no injury. Did you not agree with me to one denarius?
14 Prendi il tuo e vattene; io voglio dare a quest'ultimo come a te.	14 Take what is yours and go. But it is my will to give to this last, just as to you.
15 Non posso io fare quello che voglio delle cose mie? E il tuo occhio è maligno perchè io son buono? -	15 And is it not lawful for me to do what I will? Or is your eye wicked because I am good?’
16 Così gli ultimi saranno i primi e i primi gli ultimi; perchè molti sono i chiamati, ma pochi gli eletti».	16 So then, the last shall be first, and the first shall be last. For many are called, but few are chosen.”
17 E salendo verso Gerusalemme, Gesù prese in disparte i dodici discepoli e strada facendo disse loro:	17 And Jesus, ascending to Jerusalem, took the twelve disciples aside in private and said to them:
18 «Ecco noi ascendiamo a Gerusalemme e il Figliuol dell'uomo sarà dato in mano dei principi dei Sacerdoti e degli Scribi, ed essi lo condanneranno a morte	18 “Behold, we are ascending to Jerusalem, and the Son of man shall be handed over to the leaders of the priests and to the scribes. And they shall condemn him to death.
19 e lo daranno in balìa dei Gentili per esser schernito, flagellato e crocifisso; e il terzo giorno risorgerà».	19 And they shall hand him over to the Gentiles to be mocked and scourged and crucified. And on the third day, he shall rise again.”
20 Allora s'accostò a lui la madre dei figli di Zebedeo coi suoi figliuoli, e si prostrò davanti a lui come per chiedergli qualche cosa.	20 Then the mother of the sons of Zebedee approached him, with her sons, adoring him, and petitioning something from him.
21 Egli le domandò: «Che vuoi?». Ella rispose: «Di' che questi miei due figliuoli seggano, uno alla tua destra e l'altro alla tua sinistra nel tuo regno».	21 And he said to her, “What do you want?” She said to him, “Declare that these, my two sons, may sit, one at your right hand, and the other at your left, in your kingdom.”
22 Gesù soggiunse: «Non sapete quello che domandate; potete voi bere il calice che io sto per bere?». «Sì, lo possiamo», gli risposero.	22 But Jesus, responding, said: “You do not know what you are asking. Are you able to drink from the chalice, from which I will drink?” They said to him, “We are able.”
23 «Voi berrete certo il mio calice», continuò [Gesù] «ma quanto al sedere alla mia destra o alla mia sinistra non tocca a me il concederlo; ma è per quelli ai quali è stato preparato dal Padre mio».	23 He said to them: “From my chalice, indeed, you shall drink. But to sit at my right or my left is not mine to give to you, but it is for those for whom it has been prepared by my Father.”
24 Gli altri dieci, udito ciò, si sdegnarono contro i due fratelli.	24 And the ten, upon hearing this, became indignant with the two brothers.
25 Gesù però, chiamatili a sè disse loro: «Voi sapete che i principi delle nazioni le signoreggiano e i grandi esercitano il potere sopra di esse.	25 But Jesus called them to himself and said: “You know that the first ones among the Gentiles are their rulers, and that those who are greater exercise power among them.
26 Ma non è così tra voi; anzi chi tra voi vorrà essere maggiore, sia il vostro servo,	26 It shall not be this way among you. But whoever will want to be greater among you, let him be your minister.
27 e chi tra voi vorrà essere il primo sia vostro servo;	27 And whoever will want to be first among you, he shall be your servant,
28 appunto come il Figliuol dell'uomo non è venuto per essere servito ma per servire a dare la sua vita per la redenzione di molti».	28 even as the Son of man has not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a redemption for many.”
29 Mentre uscivan da Gerico, li seguiva una grande folla.	29 And as they were departing from Jericho, a great crowd followed him.
30 Ed ecco due ciechi, seduti lungo la strada, udito che passava Gesù si misero a gridare: «Signore, figlio di David, abbi pietà di noi».	30 And behold, two blind men, sitting by the way, heard that Jesus was passing by; and they cried out, saying, “Lord, Son of David, take pity on us.”
31 Ma il popolo li sgridava perchè tacessero. Essi però gridavan più forte: «Signore, figlio di David, abbi pietà di noi».	31 But the crowd rebuked them to be quiet. But they cried out all the more, saying, “Lord, Son of David, take pity on us.”
32 Gesù si fermò e, chiamatili, domandò loro: «Che volete ch'io vi faccia?».	32 And Jesus stood still, and he called them and said, “What do you want, that I might do for you?”
33 Gli risposero: «Signore, che gli occhi nostri s'aprano!».	33 They said to him, “Lord, that our eyes be opened.”
34 Preso da compassione, Gesù toccò i loro occhi e subito ricuperarono la vista e lo seguirono.	34 Then Jesus, taking pity on them, touched their eyes. And immediately they saw, and they followed him.
