1 And Jesus, filled with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan. And he was urged by the Spirit into the wilderness	1 Ο δε Ιησους, πληρης Πνευματος Αγιου, υπεστρεψεν απο τον Ιορδανην και εφερετο δια του Πνευματος εις την ερημον,
2 for forty days, and he was tested by the devil. And he ate nothing in those days. And when they were completed, he was hungry.	2 πειραζομενος υπο του διαβολου ημερας τεσσαρακοντα, και δεν εφαγεν ουδεν τας ημερας εκεινας? αφου δε αυται ετελειωσαν, υστερον επεινασε.
3 Then the devil said to him, “If you are the Son of God, speak to this stone, so that it may be made into bread.”	3 Και ειπε προς αυτον ο διαβολος? Εαν εισαι Υιος του Θεου, ειπε προς τον λιθον τουτον να γεινη αρτος.
4 And Jesus answered him, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.’ ”	4 Και απεκριθη ο Ιησους προς αυτον, λεγων? ειναι γεγραμμενον οτι με αρτον μονον δεν θελει ζησει ο ανθρωπος, αλλα με παντα λογον Θεου.
5 And the devil led him onto a high mountain, and he showed him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time,	5 Και αναβιβασας αυτον ο διαβολος εις ορος υψηλον, εδειξεν εις αυτον παντα τα βασιλεια της οικουμενης εν μια στιγμη χρονου,
6 and he said to him: “To you, I will give all this power, and its glory. For they have been handed over to me, and I give them to whomever I wish.	6 και ειπε προς αυτον ο διαβολος? εις σε θελω δωσει απασαν την εξουσιαν ταυτην και την δοξαν αυτων, διοτι εις εμε ειναι παραδεδομενη, και εις οντινα θελω διδω αυτην.
7 Therefore, if you will worship before me, all will be yours.”	7 Συ λοιπον εαν προσκυνησης ενωπιον μου, σου θελουσιν εισθαι παντα.
8 And in response, Jesus said to him: “It is written: ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and you shall serve him alone.’ ”	8 Και αποκριθεις προς αυτον, ειπεν ο Ιησους? Υπαγε οπισω μου, Σατανα? διοτι ειναι γεγραμμενον, θελεις προσκυνησει Κυριον τον Θεον σου και αυτον μονον θελεις λατρευσει.
9 And he brought him to Jerusalem, and he set him on the parapet of the temple, and he said to him: “If you are the Son of God, cast yourself down from here.	9 Και εφερεν αυτον εις Ιερουσαλημ και εστησεν αυτον επι το πτερυγιον του ιερου και ειπε προς αυτον? Εαν εισαι ο Υιος του Θεου, ριψον σεαυτον εντευθεν κατω?
10 For it is written that he has given his Angels charge over you, so that they may guard you,	10 διοτι ειναι γεγραμμενον οτι εις τους αγγελους αυτου θελει προσταξει περι σου, δια να σε διαφυλαξωσι,
11 and so that they may take you into their hands, lest perhaps you may hurt your foot against a stone.”	11 και οτι θελουσι σε σηκονει επι των χειρων αυτων, δια να μη προσκοψης προς λιθον τον ποδα σου.
12 And in response, Jesus said to him, “It is said: ‘You shall not tempt the Lord your God.’ ”	12 Και αποκριθεις ειπε προς αυτον ο Ιησους οτι ειναι ειρημενον, δεν θελεις πειρασει Κυριον τον Θεον σου.
13 And when all the temptation was completed, the devil withdrew from him, until a time.	13 Και αφου ετελειωσε παντα πειρασμον ο διαβολος, απεμακρυνθη απ' αυτου μεχρι καιρου.
14 And Jesus returned, in the power of the Spirit, into Galilee. And his fame spread throughout the entire region.	14 Και ο Ιησους υπεστρεψεν εν τη δυναμει του Πνευματος εις την Γαλιλαιαν? και εξηλθε φημη περι αυτου καθ' ολην την περιχωρον.
15 And he taught in their synagogues, and he was magnified by everyone.	15 Και αυτος εδιδασκεν εν ταις συναγωγαις αυτων, δοξαζομενος υπο παντων.
16 And he went to Nazareth, where he had been raised. And he entered into the synagogue, according to his custom, on the Sabbath day. And he rose up to read.	16 Και ηλθεν εις την Ναζαρετ, οπου ητο ανατεθραμμενος, και εισηλθε κατα την συνηθειαν αυτου εις την συναγωγην εν τη ημερα του σαββατου και εσηκωθη να αναγνωση.
17 And the book of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. And as he unrolled the book, he found the place where it was written:	17 Και εδοθη εις αυτον το βιβλιον Ησαιου του προφητου, και ανοιξας το βιβλιον ευρε τον τοπον, οπου ητο γεγραμμενον?
18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me; because of this, he has anointed me. He has sent me to evangelize the poor, to heal the contrite of heart,	18 Πνευμα Κυριου ειναι επ' εμε, δια τουτο με εχρισε? με απεστειλε δια να ευαγγελιζωμαι προς τους πτωχους, δια να ιατρευσω τους συτετριμμενους την καρδιαν, να κηρυξω προς τους αιχμαλωτους ελευθεριαν και προς τους τυφλους αναβλεψιν, να αποστειλω τους συντεθλασμενους εν ελευθερια,
19 to preach forgiveness to captives and sight to the blind, to release the broken into forgiveness, to preach the acceptable year of the Lord and the day of retribution.”	19 δια να κηρυξω ευπροσδεκτον Κυριου ενιαυτον.
20 And when he had rolled up the book, he returned it to the minister, and he sat down. And the eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fixed on him.	20 Και κλεισας το βιβλιον, απεδωκεν εις τον υπηρετην και εκαθησε? παντων δε οι οφθαλμοι των εν τη συναγωγη ησαν ατενιζοντες εις αυτον.
21 Then he began to say to them, “On this day, this scripture has been fulfilled in your hearing.”	21 Και ηρχισε να λεγη προς αυτους οτι σημερον επληρωθη η γραφη αυτη εις τα ωτα υμων.
22 And everyone gave testimony to him. And they wondered at the words of grace that proceeded from his mouth. And they said, “Is this not the son of Joseph?”	22 Και παντες εμαρτυρουν εις αυτον και εθαυμαζον δια τους λογους της χαριτος τους εξερχομενους εκ του στοματος αυτου και ελεγον? Δεν ειναι ουτος ο υιος του Ιωσηφ;
23 And he said to them: “Certainly, you will recite to me this saying, ‘Physician, heal yourself.’ The many great things that we have heard were done in Capernaum, do here also in your own country.”	23 Και ειπε προς αυτους? Βεβαιως θελετε με ειπει την παραβολην ταυτην? Ιατρε, θεραπευσον σεαυτον? οσα ηκουσαμεν οτι εγειναν εν τη Καπερναουμ, καμε και εδω εν τη πατριδι σου.
24 Then he said: “Amen I say to you, that no prophet is accepted in his own country.	24 Ειπε δε? Αληθως σας λεγω οτι ουδεις προφητης ειναι δεκτος εν τη πατριδι αυτου.
25 In truth, I say to you, there were many widows in the days of Elijah in Israel, when the heavens were closed for three years and six months, when a great famine had occurred throughout the entire land.	25 Και επ' αληθειας σας λεγω, Πολλαι χηραι ησαν εν τω Ισραηλ επι των ημερων Ηλιου, οτε εκλεισθη ο ουρανος επι ετη τρια και μηνας εξ, καθ' ον καιρον εγεινε πεινα μεγαλη εφ' ολην την γην,
26 And to none of these was Elijah sent, except to Zarephath of Sidon, to a woman who was a widow.	26 και προς ουδεμιαν αυτων επεμφθη ο Ηλιας, ειμη εις Σαρεπτα της Σιδωνος προς γυναικα χηραν.
27 And there were many lepers in Israel under the prophet Elisha. And none of these was cleansed, except Naaman the Syrian.”	27 Και πολλοι λεπροι ησαν επι Ελισαιου του προφητου εν τω Ισραηλ, και ουδεις αυτων εκαθαρισθη, ειμη Νεεμαν ο Συρος.
28 And all those in the synagogue, upon hearing these things, were filled with anger.	28 Και επλησθησαν παντες θυμου εν τη συναγωγη, ακουοντες ταυτα,
29 And they rose up and drove him beyond the city. And they brought him all the way to the edge of the mount, upon which their city had been built, so that they might thrown him down violently.	29 και σηκωθεντες εξεβαλον αυτον εξω της πολεως και εφεραν αυτον εως της οφρυος του ορους, επι του οποιου η πολις αυτων ητο ωκοδομημενη, δια να κατακρημνισωσιν αυτον?
30 But passing through their midst, he went away.	30 αυτος ομως περασας δια μεσου αυτων επορευετο.
31 And he descended to Capernaum, a city of Galilee. And there he taught them on the Sabbaths.	31 Και κατεβη εις Καπερναουμ, πολιν της Γαλιλαιας, και εδιδασκεν αυτους εν τοις σαββασι?
32 And they were astonished at his doctrine, for his word was spoken with authority.	32 και εξεπληττοντο δια την διδαχην αυτου, διοτι ο λογος αυτου ητο μετα εξουσιας.
33 And in the synagogue, there was a man who had an unclean demon, and he cried out with a loud voice,	33 Και εν τη συναγωγη ητο ανθρωπος εχων πνευμα δαιμονιου ακαθαρτου, και ανεκραξε μετα φωνης μεγαλης,
34 saying: “Let us alone. What are we to you, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know you who you are: the Holy One of God.”	34 λεγων? Φευ, τι ειναι μεταξυ υμων και σου, Ιησου Ναζαρηνε; ηλθες να απολεσης ημας; Σε γνωριζω τις εισαι, ο Αγιος του Θεου.
35 And Jesus rebuked him, saying, “Be silent and depart from him.” And when the demon had thrown him into their midst, he departed from him, and he no longer harmed him.	35 Και επετιμησεν αυτο ο Ιησους, λεγων? Σιωπα και εξελθε εξ αυτου. Και το δαιμονιον ερριψεν αυτον εις το μεσον και εξηλθεν απ' αυτου, χωρις να βλαψη αυτον παντελως.
36 And fear fell over them all. And they discussed this among themselves, saying: “What is this word? For with authority and power he commands the unclean spirits, and they depart.”	36 Και εξεπλαγησαν παντες και συνελαλουν προς αλληλους, λεγοντες? Τις ειναι ο λογος ουτος, οτι μετα εξουσιας και δυναμεως προσταζει τα ακαθαρτα πνευματα, και εξερχονται;
37 And his fame spread to every place in the region.	37 και διεδιδετο φημη περι αυτου εις παντα τοπον της περιχωρου.
38 Then Jesus, rising up from the synagogue, entered into the house of Simon. Now Simon’s mother-in-law was in the grip of a severe fever. And they petitioned him on her behalf.	38 Σηκωθεις δε εκ της συναγωγης, εισηλθεν εις την οικιαν του Σιμωνος. Η πενθερα δε του Σιμωνος εκρατειτο υπο πυρετου μεγαλου, και παρεκαλεσαν αυτον περι αυτης.
39 And standing over her, he commanded the fever, and it left her. And promptly rising up, she ministered to them.	39 Και σταθεις επανω αυτης επετιμησε τον πυρετον, και αφηκεν αυτην και παρευθυς σηκωθεισα υπηρετει αυτους.
40 Then, when the sun had set, all those who had anyone afflicted with various diseases brought them to him. Then, laying his hands on each one of them, he cured them.	40 Ενω δε εδυεν ο ηλιος, παντες οσοι ειχον ασθενουντας υπο διαφορων νοσων εφεραν αυτους προς αυτον? εκεινος δε επιθεσας τας χειρας εις ενα εκαστον αυτων εθεραπευσεν αυτους.
41 Now demons departed from many of them, crying out and saying, “You are the son of God.” And rebuking them, he would not permit them to speak. For they knew him to be the Christ.	41 Εξηρχοντο δε και δαιμονια απο πολλων, κραζοντα και λεγοντα οτι Συ εισαι ο Χριστος ο Υιος του Θεου. Και επιτιμων αυτα δεν αφινε να λαλωσιν, επειδη εγνωριζον αυτον οτι ειναι ο Χριστος.
42 Then, when it was daytime, going out, he went to a deserted place. And the crowds sought him, and they went all the way to him. And they detained him, so that he would not depart from them.	42 Και οτε εγεινεν ημερα, εξελθων υπηγεν εις ερημον τοπον και οι οχλοι εζητουν αυτον, και ηλθον εως αυτου και εκρατουν αυτον δια να μη αναχωρηση απ' αυτων.
43 And he said to them, “I must also preach the kingdom of God to other cities, because it was for this reason that I was sent.”	43 Ο δε ειπε προς αυτους οτι Και εις τας αλλας πολεις πρεπει να ευαγγελισω την βασιλειαν του Θεου επειδη εις τουτο ειμαι απεσταλμενος.
44 And he was preaching in the synagogues of Galilee.	44 Και εκηρυττεν εν ταις συναγωγαις της Γαλιλαιας.
