Hosea 10

1 Israel is a leafy vine, its fruit has been suitable to him. According to the multitude of his fruit, he has multiplied altars; according to the fertility of his land, he has abounded with graven images.	1 Israël était une vigne luxuriante, qui donnait bien son fruit. Plus son fruit se multipliait, plus il amultiplié les autels; plus son pays devenait riche, plus riches il a fait les stèles.
2 His heart has been divided, so now they will cross the divide. He will break apart their images; he will plunder their sanctuaries.	2 Leur coeur est double, maintenant ils vont expier; Lui-même renversera leurs autels, il dévastera leursstèles.
3 For now they will say, “We have no king. For we do not fear the Lord. And what would a king do for us?”	3 Alors ils diront: "Nous n'avons pas de roi, car nous n'avons pas craint Yahvé, mais le roi, quepourrait-il faire pour nous?"
4 You speak words about a useless vision, and you will strike a deal. And judgment will spring up like bitterness in the furrows of the field.	4 On tient des discours, on jure en vain, on conclut des alliances; et le droit prospère comme la plantevénéneuse sur le sillon des champs!
5 The inhabitants of Samaria have worshipped the calf of Bethaven. For the keepers of its temple, who had exulted over it in its glory, and its people, have mourned over it because it migrated from there.	5 Pour le veau de Bet-Aven les habitants de Samarie tremblent; oui, sur lui son peuple mène le deuil,ainsi que sa prêtraille: Qu'il exultent sur sa gloire maintenant qu'elle est déportée loin de nous!
6 If, indeed, it also has been offered to Assur, as a gift for the Avenging king, confusion will seize Ephraim, and Israel will be confounded by his own will.	6 Lui-même, on le transportera en Assur comme tribut pour le grand roi. Ephraïm recueillera la honte,et Israël rougira de son dessein.
7 Samaria has required her king to pass by, like foam on the face of the water.	7 C'en est fait de Samarie! Son roi est comme un fétu à la surface de l'eau.
8 And the heights of the idol, the sin of Israel, will be utterly destroyed. The burr and the thistle will rise up over their altars. And they will say to the mountains, ‘Cover us,’ and to the hills, ‘Fall on us.’	8 Ils seront détruits, les hauts lieux d'Aven, ce péché d'Israël; épines et chardons grimperont sur leursautels. Ils diront alors aux montagnes: "Couvrez-nous!" et aux collines: "Tombez sur nous!"
9 From the days of Gibeah, Israel has sinned; in this, they remained firm. The battle in Gibeah against the sons of iniquity will not take hold of them.	9 Depuis les jours de Gibéa, tu as péché, Israël! ils s'en sont tenus là, et la guerre n'atteindrait pas lescriminels à Gibéa?
10 According to my desire, I will correct them. And the peoples will be gathered together over them, while they are chastised for their two iniquities.	10 Je vais venir les punir! Des peuples s'assembleront contre eux quand ils seront punis pour leurs deuxfautes.
11 Ephraim is a heifer that has been taught to love treading out the grain, but I passed over the beauty of her neck. I will rise over Ephraim. Judah will plough; Jacob will break up the soil for himself.	11 Ephraïm est une génisse bien dressée, aimant à fouler l'aire; et moi j'ai fait passer le joug sur son cousuperbe! j'attellerai Ephraïm, Juda labourera, Jacob traînera la herse.
12 Sow for yourselves in justice, and harvest in the mouth of mercy; renew your fallow land. But the time when you will seek the Lord is the time when he will arrive who will teach you justice.	12 Faites-vous des semailles selon la justice, moissonnez à proportion de l'amour; défrichez-vous desterres en friche: il est temps de rechercher Yahvé, jusqu'à ce qu'il vienne faire pleuvoir sur vous la justice.
13 You have ploughed impiety; you have harvested iniquity; you have eaten the fruit of lies. For you had confidence in your ways, in the multitude of your good fortunes.	13 Vous avez labouré la méchanceté, vous avez moissonné l'injustice, vous avez mangé le fruit dumensonge. Parce que tu t'es confié dans tes chars, dans la multitude de tes guerriers,
14 A tumult will arise among your people. And all your fortifications will be laid waste, just as Salman was destroyed by the house of him that judged Baal on the day of the battle, the mother having been crushed against her sons.	14 un grondement s'élèvera parmi ton peuple et toutes tes forteresses seront dévastées, comme Shalmândévasta Bet-Arbel, au jour du combat, quand la mère était écrasée sur ses enfants.
15 So has Bethel done to you, before the face of your malicious wickedness.	15 Voilà ce que vous a fait Béthel, pour votre méchanceté sans nom; à l'aurore, oui, c'en sera fait du roid'Israël!
