Leviticus 18

1 And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying:	1 Yahvé dit à Moïse:
2 Speak to the sons of Israel, and you shall say to them: I am the Lord your God.	2 “Voici ce que tu diras aux Israélites: Je suis Yahvé votre Dieu!
3 You shall not act according to the custom of the land of Egypt, in which you have lived; nor shall you behave according to the habit of the region of Canaan, into which I will lead you; neither shall you walk in their ordinances.	3 Vous ne ferez pas ce qui se fait en Égypte, où vous avez habité, ou ce qui se fait au pays de Canaan où je vous ai fait entrer. Vous ne le ferez pas, vous ne suivrez pas leurs coutumes.
4 You shall accomplish my judgments, and you shall observe my precepts, and you shall walk in them. I am the Lord your God.	4 C’est à mes commandements que vous obéirez, ce sont mes coutumes que vous suivrez et mettrez en pratique: je suis Yahvé votre Dieu!
5 Keep my laws and judgments; when a man does these, he shall live by them. I am the Lord.	5 Vous observerez mes coutumes et mes commandements, car celui qui les met en pratique vit grâce à eux: je suis Yahvé!
6 No man shall approach her who is a close blood-relative to him, so as to uncover her nakedness. I am the Lord.	6 Aucun homme parmi vous ne s’approchera d’une femme qui est de sa proche parenté, pour avoir des rapports avec elle: je suis Yahvé!
7 You shall not expose the nakedness of your father, or the nakedness of your mother. She is your mother; you shall not uncover her nakedness.	7 Tu n’auras de rapports ni avec ton père ni avec ta mère: c’est ta mère, tu n’auras donc pas de rapports avec elle.
8 You shall not expose the nakedness of your father’s wife; for it is the nakedness of your father.	8 Tu n’auras pas de rapports avec la femme de ton père, car elle est la chair de ton père.
9 You shall not uncover the nakedness of your sister, whether from father or from mother, whether she was born at home or abroad.	9 Tu n’auras pas de rapports avec la fille de ta sœur, ou la fille de ton père ou la fille de ta mère, qu’elle soit née dans ta maison ou au dehors.
10 You shall not uncover the nakedness of your son’s daughter, or your daughter’s daughter; for it is your own nakedness.	10 Tu n’auras pas de rapports avec la fille de ton fils ou de ta fille, car elles sont ta propre chair.
11 You shall not uncover the nakedness of your father’s wife’s daughter, whom she bore to your father, and who is your sister.	11 Tu n’auras pas de rapports avec une fille de la femme de ton père, si elle est née de ton père: elle est ta sœur et tu n’auras pas de rapports avec elle.
12 You shall not expose the nakedness of your father’s sister; for she is the flesh of your father.	12 Tu n’auras pas de rapports avec la sœur de ton père, car elle est la chair de ton père.
13 You shall not uncover the nakedness of your mother’s sister, because she is the flesh of your mother.	13 Tu n’auras pas de rapports avec la sœur de ta mère, car elle est la chair de ta mère.
14 You shall not uncover the nakedness of your father’s brother, nor shall you approach his wife, who is joined to you by affinity.	14 Respecte le frère de ton père! Tu n’auras pas de rapports avec sa femme, car elle est ta tante.
15 You shall not uncover the nakedness of your daughter-in-law, for she is your son’s wife; neither shall you expose her dishonor.	15 Tu n’auras pas de rapports avec ta bru, car elle est la femme de ton fils: tu n’auras pas de rapports avec elle.
16 You shall not uncover the nakedness of your brother’s wife; for it is the nakedness of your brother.	16 Tu n’auras pas de rapports avec la femme de ton frère, car elle est la chair de ton frère.
17 You shall not uncover the nakedness of your wife and her daughter. You shall not take her son’s daughter or her daughter’s daughter, so as to uncover her dishonor; for they are her flesh, and such sexual intercourse is incest.	17 Tu n’auras pas de rapports avec une femme et sa fille; tu n’auras pas de rapports avec la fille de son fils, ou la fille de sa fille, car elles sont sa propre chair; ce serait un crime.
18 You shall not take your wife’s sister as a rival mistress; nor shall you uncover her nakedness, while your wife is still living.	18 Tu ne prendras pas une femme en même temps que sa sœur pour avoir des rapports avec elle alors que l’autre est encore en vie.
19 You shall not approach a woman who is undergoing menstruation, nor shall you uncover her foulness.	19 Tu n’auras pas de relations avec une femme pendant la période de ses règles.
20 You shall not have sexual intercourse with your neighbor’s wife, nor shall you be defiled by the mingling of seed.	20 Tu n’auras pas de rapports avec la femme de ton prochain, tu en resterais souillé.
21 You shall not give some of your seed to be consecrated to the idol Moloch, nor to pollute the name of your God. I am the Lord.	21 Tu n’iras pas sacrifier un de tes enfants à Molok, car ce serait profaner le nom de ton Dieu: je suis Yahvé!
22 You shall not commit sexual acts with a male, in place of sexual intercourse with a female, for this is an abomination.	22 Tu ne coucheras pas avec un homme comme on couche avec une femme: c’est un acte abominable!
23 You shall not commit sexual acts with any animal, nor shall you be defiled by it. A woman shall not lie down with a beast, nor commit sexual acts with it; for this is wickedness.	23 Tu ne coucheras pas avec une bête: tu en resterais souillé. La femme ne s’unira pas à une bête pour se prostituer avec elle: c’est une honte!
24 Do not pollute yourselves with any of these things, by which all of the nations, which I will cast out in your sight, have been contaminated	24 Ne vous rendez impurs par aucune de ces pratiques, car c’est ainsi que se sont souillées les nations que je vais chasser devant vous.
25 and by which the land has been polluted. I will visit the wickedness of the land, so that it may vomit out its inhabitants.	25 Le pays en a été souillé, c’est pourquoi je vais intervenir et le pays vomira ses habitants.
26 Keep my ordinances and judgments, and do not do any of these abominations: the native born, as well as the settler, who sojourns among you.	26 Vous observerez mes lois et mes commandements, et vous ne commettrez aucune de ces choses honteuses, ni vous, ni l’étranger qui habite au milieu de vous.
27 For all these detestable things were done by the inhabitants of the land who were here before you, and they have polluted it.	27 Ceux qui habitaient ce pays avant vous s’étaient habitués à ces pratiques honteuses, et le pays en a été souillé.
28 Therefore, beware, lest in a similar manner, it may vomit you out as well, if you do these same things, just as it vomited out the people who were before you.	28 Ne souillez pas ce pays à votre tour, car il vous vomirait comme il a vomi les nations qui étaient avant vous.
29 Every soul who shall commit any of these abominations shall perish from the midst of his people.	29 Ceux qui se livreront à l’une de ces actions honteuses devront être retranchés du milieu de leur peuple.
30 Keep my commandments. Do not be willing to do the things which have been done by those who were before you, and do not be polluted by these things. I am the Lord your God.	30 Vous observerez mes commandements et vous ne suivrez aucune des pratiques honteuses qui se faisaient avant vous; vous ne vous souillerez pas de cette façon, car je suis Yahvé votre Dieu.”
