Unto the end. For Mahalath: the thoughts of David. The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.” | 1 [For the choirmaster Poem Of David When Doeg the Edomite went and warned Saul, 'David has goneto Abimelech's house'] Why take pride in being wicked, you champion in vil ainy, al day long |
They were corrupted, and they became abominable with iniquities. There is no one who does good. | 2 plotting crime? Your tongue is razor-sharp, you artist in perfidy. |
God gazed down from heaven on the sons of men, to see if there were any who were considering or seeking God. | 3 You prefer evil to good, lying to uprightness. Pause |
All have gone astray; together they have become useless. There is no one who does good; there is not even one. | 4 You revel in destructive talk, treacherous tongue! |
Will they never learn: all those who work iniquity, who devour my people like a meal of bread? | 5 That is why God wil crush you, destroy you once and for all, snatch you from your tent, uproot youfrom the land of the living.Pause |
They have not called upon God. In that place, they have trembled in fear, where there was no fear. For God has scattered the bones of those who please men. They have been confounded, because God has spurned them. | 6 The upright wil be awestruck as they see it, they wil mock him, |
Who will grant from Zion the salvation of Israel? Jacob will exult, when God will convert the captivity of his people; and Israel will rejoice. | 7 'So much for someone who would not place his reliance in God, but relied on his own great wealth, and made himself strong by crime.' |
But I, like a flourishing olive tree in the house of God, put my trust in God's faithful love, for ever andever. | |
I shal praise you for ever for what you have done, and shal trust in your name, so ful of goodness, inthe presence of your faithful. |
