1 Then, twenty years having passed since Solomon built the house of the Lord and his own house,	1 Al cabo de los veinte años que tardó Salomón en construir la Casa del Señor y su propia casa,
2 he built the cities that Hiram had given to Solomon, and he caused the sons of Israel to live there.	2 él reconstruyó las ciudades que le había dado Jiram y estableció en ellas a los israelitas.
3 Also, he went to Hamath Zobah, and he obtained it.	3 Luego se dirigió a Jamat de Sobá y se apoderó de ella.
4 And he built Palmira in the desert, and he built very fortified cities in Hamath.	4 Reconstruyó Tadmor en el desierto, como asimismo todos los centros de aprovisionamiento que había edificado en Jamat.
5 And he built upper Beth-horon and lower Beth-horon, as walled cities, having gates and bars and locks,	5 Reconstruyó Bet Jorón de Arriba y Bet Jorón de Abajo –plazas fuertes con muros, puertas y cerrojos –
6 as well as Baalath, and all the very strong cities which were of Solomon, and all the cities of the chariots, and the cities of the horsemen. Everything whatsoever that Solomon willed and decided, he built in Jerusalem, and in Lebanon, and throughout the entire land of his authority.	6 y también Baalat, todos los centros de aprovisionamiento que tenía Salomón, todas las ciudades para los carros de guerra y la caballería, y todas las demás construcciones que Salomón quiso levantar en Jerusalén, en el Líbano y en todo el país sometido a su dominio.
7 All the people who had been left from the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, those who were not from the stock of Israel,	7 A los sobrevivientes de los hititas, los amorreos, los perizitas, los jivitas y los jebuseos, que no pertenecían a Israel
8 those of their sons and their posterity whom the sons of Israel had not put to death, Solomon subjugated as tributaries, even to this day.	8 –es decir, a sus descendientes, que habían quedado después de ellos en el país, porque los israelitas no los habían exterminado– Salomón les impuso trabajos serviles hasta el día de hoy.
9 But he did not appoint anyone from the sons of Israel to serve in the works of the king. For they were men of war, and first rulers, and commanders of his chariots and horsemen.	9 Pero no sometió a esclavitud a ningún israelita, sino que a ellos los empleó como hombres de guerra, jefes de sus escuderos y comandantes de sus carros de guerra y su caballería.
10 Now all the leaders of the army of king Solomon were two hundred fifty, who were instructing the people.	10 Los supervisores de los capataces puestos por Salomón eran doscientos cincuenta hombres, que dirigían al personal.
11 Truly, he transferred the daughter of Pharaoh, from the City of David, to the house that he had built for her. For the king said: “My wife shall not live in the house of David, king of Israel, for it has been sanctified. For the ark of the Lord has entered into it.”	11 Salomón hizo subir a la hija del Faraón desde la Ciudad de David a la casa que había edificado para ella, porque él decía: «Mi mujer no puede habitar en la casa de David, el rey de Israel, ya que los lugares donde ha entrado el Arca del Señor son sagrados».
12 Then Solomon offered holocausts to the Lord on the altar of the Lord, which he had constructed before the portico,	12 Entonces Salomón comenzó a ofrecer holocaustos al Señor sobre el altar que había erigido ante el vestíbulo del Templo.
13 so that every day there would be an offering on it, in accord with precept of Moses, on the Sabbaths, and on the new moons, and three times a year on the feast days, that is, on the solemnity of unleavened bread, and on the solemnity of weeks, and in the solemnity of tabernacles.	13 Según el rito de cada día, ofrecía lo que había mandado Moisés para los sábados, los novilunios y las tres solemnidades anuales, a saber; la fiesta de los Acimos, la fiesta de las Semanas y la fiesta de las Chozas.
14 And he appointed, in accord with the plan of his father David, the offices of the priests in their ministries; and those of the Levites, in their orders, so that they might praise and minister before the priests according to the ritual of each day; and the porters, in their divisions, from gate to gate. For so had David, the man of God, instructed.	14 Además, conforme a las disposiciones de su padre David, asignó a las clases sacerdotales sus respectivas funciones; estableció en sus cargos a los levitas, para cantar alabanzas y oficiar en presencia de los sacerdotes, según el rito de cada día; y a los porteros, según sus clases, los encargó de cada una de las puertas, porque así lo había mandado David, el hombre de Dios.
15 Neither the priests, nor the Levites, transgressed against the commands of the king, in all that he had instructed, and in the keeping of the treasuries.	15 Ellos no se apartaron en nada de lo mandado por el rey en lo referente a los sacerdotes y a los levitas, ni tampoco en lo concerniente a los tesoros.
16 Solomon had all the expenses prepared, from the day on which he founded the house of the Lord, even until the day when he perfected it.	16 Así se llevó a cabo toda la obra de Salomón, desde el día en que se pusieron los cimientos de la Casa del Señor hasta su terminación. La Casa del Señor quedó totalmente concluida.
17 Then Solomon went away to Eziongeber, and to Eloth, on the coast of the Red Sea, which is in the land of Edom.	17 Entonces Salomón se dirigió a Esión Guéber y a Elat, a orillas del mar, en el país de Edom.
18 And Hiram sent to him ships, by the hands of his servants, sailors and skillful navigators of the sea, and they went away with the servants of Solomon to Ophir. And they took from there four hundred fifty talents of gold, and they brought it to king Solomon.	18 Jiram, por medio de sus servidores, le envió una flota y algunos marineros, buenos conocedores del mar. Ellos fueron a Ofir con los servidores de Salomón, y trajeron de allí cuatrocientos talentos de oro, que entregaron al rey Salomón.
