1 Then Solomon, the son of David, was strengthened in his reign, and the Lord his God was with him, and he magnified him on high.	1 Salomone adunque figliuolo di David ebbe fermo il possesso del suo reame, e il Signore Dio suo era con lui, e lo esaltò fino al cielo.
2 And Solomon instructed the whole of Israel, the tribunes, and the centurions, and the rulers, and the judges over all of Israel, and the leaders of the families.	2 E Salomone convocò tutto Israele, i tribuni, e i centurioni, e i capitani, e i giudici di tutto Israele, e i capi delle famiglie;
3 And he went away with the entire multitude to the high place of Gibeon, where the tabernacle of the covenant of the Lord was, which Moses, the servant of God, made in the wilderness.	3 E con tutta questa moltitudine andò al luogo eccelso di Gabaon, dove era il tabernacolo del testamento del Signore fabbricato da Mosè servo di Dio nel deserto.
4 For David had brought the ark of God from Kiriath-jearim, to the place that he had prepared for it, and where he had pitched a tabernacle for it, that is, in Jerusalem.	4 (Or David avea condotta l'arca di Dio da Cariathiarim al luogo, ch'ei le avea preparato, dove le avea piantato un padiglione, viene a dire, a Gerusalemme).
5 Also, the altar of brass, which Bezalel, the son of Uri, the son of Hur, had constructed, was there before the tabernacle of the Lord. And so Solomon sought it, with the entire assembly.	5 E parimente l'altare di bronzo fatto da Beseleel figliuolo di Uri, figliuolo di Hur, era colà dinanzi al tabernacolo del Signore: e Salomone, e tutta l'adunanza si presentò dinanzi ad esso.
6 And Solomon ascended to the bronze altar, before the tabernacle of the covenant of the Lord, and he offered upon it one thousand victims.	6 E Salomone salì all'altare di bronzo dinanzi al tabernacolo dell'alleanza del Signore, e vi offerse mille ostie.
7 But behold, during that night God appeared to him, saying, “Request what you wish, so that I may give it to you.”	7 Ed ecco, che la stessa notte gli apparve Dio, e gli disse: Chiedi quello, che vuoi, ch'io ti conceda.
8 And Solomon said to God: “You have shown great mercy to my father David. And you have appointed me as king in his place.	8 E Salomone disse a Dio: Tu facesti delle grandi misericordie a David mio padre: e me hai stabilito re in suo luogo.
9 Now therefore, O Lord God, let your word be fulfilled, which you promised to my father David. For you have made me king over your great people, who are as innumerable as the dust of the earth.	9 Ora adunque. Signore Dio, si adempia la parola di tua promessa fatta a David mio padre: perocché tu mi hai fatto re di questo tuo popolo grande, che è innumerabile come i granelli di polvere della terra.
10 Give to me wisdom and understanding, so that I may enter and depart before your people. For who is able worthily to judge this, your people, who are so great?”	10 Dammi la saggezza, e l'intelligenza, affinchè io possa governare il tuo popolo: imperocché chi può degnamente guidare questo tuo popolo, che è cosi grande?
11 Then God said to Solomon: “Since this is the choice that pleased your heart, and you did not request wealth and substance and glory, nor the lives of those who hate you, nor even many days of life, since instead you requested wisdom and knowledge so that you may be able to judge my people, over whom I have appointed you as king:	11 E Dio disse a Salomone: Perchè in cuor tuo hai preferite queste cose, e non hai domandate ricchezze, né beni, né gloria, né la morte di que', che ti odiano, e neppur lunga vita; ma hai domandata la sapienza, e la scienza, affin di render giustizia al mio popolo, di cui io ti ho fatto re;
12 wisdom and knowledge are granted to you. And I will give to you wealth and substance and glory, so that none of the kings either before you or after you will be similar to you.”	12 La sapienza, e la scienza son concedute a te: e le ricchezze, e i beni, e la gloria darò a te in tal guisa, che nissuno né prima, né dopo sarà mai simile a te.
13 Then Solomon went from the high place of Gibeon to Jerusalem, before the tabernacle of the covenant, and he reigned over Israel.	13 Salomone adunque se n'andò dal luogo eccelso di Gabaon a Gerusalemme dinanzi al tabernacolo del testamento, e prese possesso del regno d'Israele.
14 And he gathered to himself chariots and horsemen. And they brought to him one thousand four hundred chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen. And he caused them to be in the cities of the chariots, and with the king in Jerusalem.	14 E raunò cocchi, e cavalieri, ed ebbe fino a mille quattrocento cocchi, e dodici mila soldati a cavallo: e feceli stanziare nelle città de' cocchi, e in Gerusalemme presso al re.
15 And the king offered silver and gold in Jerusalem as if they were stones, and cedar trees as if they were sycamores, which grow in the plains in a great multitude.	15 E il re fece, che l'argento, e l'oro in Gerusalemme era come le pietre, e i cedri come i fichi fatui, che nascono in gran numero ne' piani.
16 Then horses were brought to him from Egypt and from Kue, by the negotiators of the king, who went and bought for a price:	16 Ed erano menati a lui i cavalli dall'Egitto, e da Coa dai mercatanti del re, i quali andavano a comprargli a caro prezzo.
17 a four-horse chariot for six hundred pieces of silver, and a horse for one hundred fifty. A similar offer to purchase was made known among all the kingdoms of the Hittites, and among the kings of Syria.	17 Quattro cavalli da cocchio secento sicli d'argento, e un cavallo cento cinquanta: e se ne faceva ancor gran de incetta da tutti i regni degli Hethei, e dai re della Siria.
