Malachi 2

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 'And now, priests, this commandment is for you.	1 E ora a voi, o sacerdoti, questo avvertimento!
2 If you will not listen, if you will not sincerely resolve to glorify my name, says Yahweh Sabaoth, I shalcertainly lay a curse on you and I shal curse your blessing. Indeed I wil lay a curse, for none of you makes thisresolve.	2 Se non date ascolto e non vi date premura di dar gloria al mio nome, dice il Signore degli eserciti, scaglierò contro di voi la maledizione, muterò in maledizione la vostra benedizione! Anzi l'ho già mutata in maledizione, perché nessuno di voi si prende premura.
3 Now, I am going to break your arm and throw offal in your faces -- the offal of your solemn feasts -- andsweep you away with it.	3 Ecco, io vi spezzo il braccio e spargo il letame sopra le vostre facce, il letame delle vostre solennità, e vi spazzo via con quello!
4 Then you wil know that I sent this commandment to you, to affirm my intention to maintain my covenantwith Levi, says Yahweh Sabaoth.	4 E conoscerete che io vi invio questo avvertimento perché non resti l'alleanza mia con Levi, dice il Signore degli eserciti.
5 My covenant was with him -- a covenant of life and peace, and these were what I gave him -- acovenant of respect, and he respected me and held my name in awe.	5 La mia alleanza era con lui: vita e prosperità, che io gli concessi; timore, ed egli mi riverì e davanti al mio nome ebbe rispetto!
6 The law of truth was in his mouth and guilt was not found on his lips; he walked in peace and justicewith me and he converted many from sinning.	6 Un insegnamento fedele era nella sua bocca e falsità non si trovò sulle sue labbra. Nell'integrità e rettitudine camminò con me e molti ritrasse dal male!
7 The priest's lips ought to safeguard knowledge; his mouth is where the law should be sought, since heis Yahweh Sabaoth's messenger.	7 Sì, le labbra del sacerdote custodiscono la scienza e l'insegnamento si ricerca dalla sua bocca. Sì, egli è il messaggero del Signore degli eserciti.
8 But you yourselves have turned aside from the way; you have caused many to lapse by your teaching.Since you have destroyed the covenant of Levi, says Yahweh Sabaoth,	8 Voi invece deviate dal mio cammino e molti fate inciampare con l'insegnamento; avete infranto l'alleanza di Levi, dice il Signore degli eserciti.
9 so I in my turn have made you contemptible and vile to the whole people, for not having kept my waysand for being partial in applying the law.	9 Io pure vi rendo spregevoli e ignobili davanti a tutto il popolo, perché non custodite le mie vie e non v'interessate dell'insegnamento.
10 'Is there not one Father of us al ? Did not one God create us? Why, then, do we break faith with oneanother, profaning the covenant of our ancestors?	10 Non è uno il padre di tutti noi? Non ci ha creato un unico Dio? Perché dunque ci tradiamo l'un l'altro, profanando l'alleanza dei nostri padri?
11 Judah has broken faith; a detestable thing has been done in Israel and in Jerusalem. For Judah hasprofaned Yahweh's beloved sanctuary; he has married the daughter of an alien god.	11 Giuda ha compiuto un tradimento, un'abominazione s'è fatta in Israele e in Gerusalemme. Giuda ha profanato il santuario prediletto dal Signore, ha sposato la figlia di un dio straniero.
12 May Yahweh deprive such an offender of witness and advocate in the tents of Jacob among those whopresent offerings to Yahweh Sabaoth!	12 Il Signore distrugga l'uomo che fa questo, chiunque egli sia, dalle tende di Giacobbe e da chi presenta l'offerta al Signore degli eserciti.
13 'And here is something else you do: you cover the altar of Yahweh with tears, with weeping andwailing, because he now refuses to consider the offering or to accept it from you.	13 Anche quest'altra cosa fate: ricoprite di lacrime, di pianti e di lamenti l'altare del Signore, perché non si volge più alla vostra offerta né più la gradisce dalle vostre mani!
14 And you ask, "Why?" Because Yahweh stands as witness between you and the wife of your youth,with whom you have broken faith, even though she was your partner and your wife by covenant.	14 E vi domandate: "Perché?". Perché il Signore è testimone tra te e la donna della tua giovinezza che tu perfidamente tradisci, benché ella sia tua consorte e la donna del tuo patto!
15 Did he not create a single being, having flesh and the breath of life? And what does this single being seek? God -- given offspring! Have respect for your own life then, and do not break faith with the wife of youryouth.	15 E non ha egli fatto un essere solo, di carne in cui è spirito? E che cosa cerca quest'essere unico? Una posterità donata da Dio. Vegliate dunque sul vostro spirito e non tradire la donna della tua giovinezza.
16 For I hate divorce, says Yahweh, God of Israel, and people concealing their cruelty under a cloak, saysYahweh Sabaoth. Have respect for your own life then, and do not break faith.	16 Io infatti odio il ripudio, dice il Signore, Dio d'Israele, e chi copre d'ingiustizia la sua veste, dice il Signore degli eserciti. Vegliate dunque sul vostro spirito e non tradite!
17 'You have wearied Yahweh with your talk. You ask, "How have we wearied him?" When you say, "Anyevil-doer is good as far as Yahweh is concerned; indeed he is delighted with them"; or when you say, "Where isthe God of fair judgement now?"	17 Voi stancate il Signore con i vostri discorsi. Voi chiedete: "Perché lo stanchiamo?". Perché dite: "Chiunque fa il male è buono agli occhi del Signore; in essi si compiace!", oppure: "Dov'è Dio giudice?".
