[For the choirmaster Tune: 'The decrees are lilies' Of Asaph Psalm] Shepherd of Israel, listen, you wholead Joseph like a flock, enthroned on the winged creatures, shine forth | 1 Magistro chori. Secundum " Lilium praecepti ". Asaph. Psalmus. |
over Ephraim, Benjamin and Manasseh; rouse your valour and come to our help. | 2 Qui pascis Israel, intende, qui deducis velut ovem Ioseph. Qui sedes super cherubim, effulge |
God, bring us back, let your face shine on us and we shall be safe.
Yahweh, God Sabaoth, how long wil you flare up at your people's prayer? | 4 Deus, converte nos, illustra faciem tuam, et salvi erimus. |
You have made tears their food, redoubled tears their drink. | 5 Domine, Deus virtutum, quousque irasceris super orationem populi tui? |
You let our neighbours quarrel over us, our enemies mock us. | 6 Cibasti nos pane lacrimarum et potum dedisti nobis in lacrimis copiose. |
God Sabaoth, bring us back, let your face shine on us and we shall be safe. | 7 Posuisti nos in contradictionem vicinis nostris, et inimici nostri subsannaverunt nos. |
You brought a vine out of Egypt, to plant it you drove out nations; | 8 Deus virtutum, converte nos, illustra faciem tuam, et salvi erimus. |
you cleared a space for it, it took root and fil ed the whole country. |
The mountains were covered with its shade, and the cedars of God with its branches, | 10 Purgasti locum in conspectu eius, plantasti radices eius, et implevit terram. |
its boughs stretched as far as the sea, its shoots as far as the River.
Why have you broken down its fences? Every passer-by plucks its grapes, | 12 extendit palmites suos usque ad mare et usque ad flumen propagines suas. |
boars from the forest tear at it, wild beasts feed on it. |
God Sabaoth, come back, we pray, look down from heaven and see, visit this vine; | 14 Exterminavit eam aper de silva, et singularis ferus depastus est eam. |
protect what your own hand has planted. |
They have thrown it on the fire like dung, the frown of your rebuke wil destroy them. |
May your hand protect those at your side, the child of Adam you have strengthened for yourself! |
Never again wil we turn away from you, give us life and we will cal upon your name. | 18 Fiat manus tua super virum dexterae tuae, super filium hominis, quem confirmasti tibi. |
God Sabaoth, bring us back, let your face shine on us and we shal be safe. |
Domine, Deus virtutum, converte nos et illustra faciem tuam, et salvi erimus. |
