He made a bronze altar, twenty cubits long, twenty cubits wide and ten cubits high.1 Then he made a bronze altar twenty cubits long, twenty cubits wide and ten cubits high.
He made the Sea of cast metal, ten cubits from rim to rim, circular in shape and five cubits high; a cordthirty cubits long gave the measurement of its girth.2 He also made the molten sea. It was perfectly round, ten cubits in diameter, five in depth, and thirty in circumference;
Under it and completely encircling it were things like oxen, ten to the cubit round the entire Sea; theoxen were in two rows, of one and the same casting with the rest.3 below the rim a ring of figures of oxen encircled the sea, ten to the cubit, all the way around; there were two rows of these cast in the same mold with the sea.
It rested on twelve oxen, three facing north, three facing west, three facing south, three facing east; onthese, their hindquarters al turned inwards, stood the Sea.4 It rested on twelve oxen, three facing north, three west, three south, and three east, with their haunches all toward the center; the sea rested on their backs.
It was a hand's breadth in thickness, and its rim was shaped like the rim of a cup-lily-shaped. It couldhold three thousand bat.5 It was a handbreadth thick, and its brim was made like that of a cup, being lily-shaped. It had a capacity of three thousand measures.
He made ten basins, putting five on the right and five on the left, for washing in; the things to be offeredas burnt offerings were to be rinsed in these, but the Sea was for the priests to wash in.6 Then he made ten basins for washing, placing five of them to the right and five to the left. Here were cleansed the victims for the holocausts; but the sea was for the priests to wash in.
He made the ten golden lamp-stands according to the pattern and placed them in the Hekal, five on theright and five on the left.7 He made the lampstands of gold, ten of them as was prescribed, and placed them in the nave, five to the right and five to the left.
He made ten tables which he set up in the Hekal, five on the right and five on the left. He also made ahundred golden sprinkling bowls.8 He made ten tables and had them set in the nave, five to the right and five to the left; and he made a hundred golden bowls.
He made the court of the priests and the great court with its gates and plated the gates with bronze.9 He made the court of the priests and the great courtyard and the gates of the courtyard; the gates he overlaid with bronze.
The Sea he placed on the right-hand side of the Temple, to the south-east.10 The sea was placed off to the southeast from the right side of the temple.
Huram made the ash containers, the scoops and the sprinkling bowls. Thus Huram completed al thework done for King Solomon for the Temple of God:11 Huram also made the pots, the shovels and the bowls. Huram thus completed the work he had to do for King Solomon in the house of God:
the two pillars; the mouldings of the capitals surmounting the two pil ars; the two sets of filigree tocover the two mouldings of the capitals surmounting the pil ars;12 two columns, two nodes for the capitals topping these two columns, and two networks covering the nodes of the capitals topping the columns;
the four hundred pomegranates for the two sets of filigree -- two rows of pomegranates for each set offiligree;13 also four hundred pomegranates for the two networks, with two rows of pomegranates to each network, to cover the two nodes of the capitals topping the columns.
the ten stands and the ten basins on the stands;14 He made the stands, and the basins on the stands;
the one Sea and the twelve oxen beneath it;15 one sea, and the twelve oxen under it;
the ash containers, scoops and forks. Al these utensils made by Huram-Abi for King Solomon for theTemple of Yahweh were of burnished bronze.16 likewise the pots, the shovels and the forks. Huram-abi made all these articles for King Solomon from polished bronze for the house of the LORD.
The King made them by the process of sand casting, in the plain of the Jordan between Succoth andZeredah.17 The king had them cast in the Jordan region, in the clayey ground between Succoth and Zeredah.
There was such an enormous quantity of them that the weight of the bronze could not be calculated.18 Solomon made all these vessels, so many in number that the weight of the bronze was not ascertained.
Solomon made al the objects designed for the Temple of God, as wel as the golden altar and thetables for the loaves of permanent offering;19 Solomon had all these articles made for the house of God: the golden altar, the tables on which the showbread lay,
the lamp-stands with their lamps to burn, as prescribed, in front of the Debir, of pure gold;20 the lampstands and their lamps of pure gold which were to burn according to prescription before the sanctuary,
the floral work, the lamps, the tongs, of gold (and it was pure gold);21 flowers, lamps and gold tongs (this was the purest gold),
the snuffers, the sprinkling bowls, incense ladles and the pans, of real gold; and the entrance to theTemple, the inner doors (for the Holy of Holies) and the doors of the Temple itself, that is of the Hekal, were alsomade of gold.22 snuffers, bowls, cups and firepans of pure gold. As for the entry to the house, its inner doors to the holy of holies, as well as the doors to the nave, were of gold.
