1 The queen of Sheba heard of Solomon's fame and came to test him with difficult questions.	1 La reina de Saba oyó la fama de Salomón, en honor del nombre del Señor, y vino a ponerlo a prueba con enigmas.
2 She arrived in Jerusalem with a very large retinue, with camels laden with spices and an immensequantity of gold and precious stones. Having reached Solomon, she discussed with him everything that she hadin mind,	2 Llegó a Jerusalén con una gran fuerza de camellos portando perfumes, oro en cantidad y piedras preciosas. Ante Salomón se presentó para plantearle cuanto había ideado.
3 and Solomon had an answer for al her questions; not one of them was too obscure for the king toanswer for her.	3 El rey resolvió sus preguntas todas, pues no había cuestión tan arcana que él no pudiese desvelar.
4 When the queen of Sheba saw how very wise Solomon was, the palace which he had built,	4 Cuando la reina de Saba percibió la sabiduría de Salomón, el palacio que había construido,
5 the food at his table, the accommodation for his officials, the organisation of his staff and the way theywere dressed, his cupbearers, and the burnt offerings which he presented in the Temple of Yahweh, it left herbreathless,	5 los manjares de su mesa, las residencias de sus servidores, el porte y vestimenta de sus ministros, sus coperos y los holocaustos que ofrecía en el templo del Señor, se quedó sin respiración
6 and she said to the king, 'The report I heard in my own country about your wisdom in handling youraffairs was true then!	6 y dijo al rey: «Era verdad cuanto oí en mi tierra acerca de tus enigmas y tu sabiduría.
7 Until I came and saw for myself, I did not believe the reports, but clearly I was told less than half: forwisdom and prosperity, you surpass what was reported to me.	7 No daba crédito a lo que se decía, pero ahora he venido y mis propios ojos lo han visto. ¡Ni la mitad me narraron! Tu conocimiento y prosperidad superan con mucho las noticias que yo escuché.
8 How fortunate your wives are! How fortunate these courtiers of yours, continual y in attendance on youand listening to your wisdom!	8 Dichosas tus mujeres, dichosos estos servidores tuyos siempre en tu presencia escuchando tu sabiduría.
9 Blessed be Yahweh your God who has shown you his favour by setting you on the throne of Israel!Because of Yahweh's everlasting love for Israel, he has made you king to administer law and justice.'	9 Bendito sea el Señor, tu Dios, que se ha complacido en ti y te ha situado en el trono de Israel. Pues, por el amor eterno del Señor a Israel, te ha puesto como rey para administrar derecho y justicia».
10 And she presented the king with a hundred and twenty talents of gold and great quantities of spicesand precious stones; no such wealth of spices ever came again as those which the queen of Sheba gave to KingSolomon.	10 Ofreció al rey ciento veinte talentos de oro y gran cantidad de esencias perfumadas y piedras preciosas. Jamás llegaron en tal abundancia perfumes como los que la reina de Saba dio a Salomón.
11 Similarly, Hiram's fleet, which brought the gold from Ophir, also brought back great cargoes of almugtimber and precious stones.	11 La flota de Jirán, la que transportaba el oro de Ofir, trajo también madera de sándalo en gran cantidad y piedras preciosas.
12 Of the almug timber the king made supports for the Temple of Yahweh and for the royal palace, andharps and lyres for the musicians; no more of this almug timber has since come or been seen to this day.	12 Con la madera de sándalo el rey hizo balaustradas para el templo del Señor y el palacio real; cítaras y salterios para los cantores. Nunca como entonces volvió a llegar madera de sándalo ni ha vuelto a verse hasta el día de hoy.
13 And King Solomon, in his turn, presented the queen of Sheba with everything that she expressed awish for, besides those presents which he gave her with a munificence worthy of King Solomon. After which, shewent home to her own country, she and her servants.	13 El rey Salomón concedió a la reina de Saba cuanto ella quiso y pidió, además de los regalos que él le hizo con munificencia regia. Luego ella se volvió a su país con sus servidores.
14 The weight of gold received annually by Solomon amounted to six hundred and sixty-six talents ofgold,	14 El peso del oro que llegaba a Salomón cada año era de seiscientos sesenta y seis talentos de oro,
15 besides what tol s and foreign trade, as well as everything the Arab kings and the provincial governorsbrought in.	15 sin contar los tributos impuestos a los mercaderes, las ganancias por el tráfico comercial y lo procedente de todos los reyes árabes e inspectores del país.
16 King Solomon made two hundred great shields of beaten gold, six hundred shekels of gold going intoone shield;	16 El rey fundió doscientos escudos de gran tamaño en oro batido con seis kilos y medio de oro batido por cada uno,
17 also three hundred small shields of beaten gold, three mina of gold going into one shield; and the kingput these into the House of the Forest of Lebanon.	17 y trescientos escudos de menor tamaño en oro batido, con tres minas de oro cada uno, que el rey guardó en la casa denominada «Bosque del Líbano».
18 The king also made a great ivory throne which he overlaid with refined gold.	18 Luego construyó un gran trono de marfil revestido de oro finísimo.
19 The throne had six steps, a back with a rounded top, and arms on each side of the seat; two lionsstood beside the arms,	19 Tenía el trono seis gradas, un respaldo redondo, brazos a uno y otro lado del asiento, dos leones de pie junto a los brazos
20 and twelve lions stood on each side of the six steps. Nothing like it has ever been made in any otherkingdom.	20 y doce leones de pie sobre las seis gradas, a uno y otro lado. Nada igual llegó a hacerse para ningún otro reino.
21 Al King Solomon's drinking vessels were of gold, and al the plate in the House of the Forest ofLebanon was of pure gold; silver was little thought of in Solomon's days,	21 Todas las copas para bebidas del rey Salomón eran de oro y toda la vajilla de la casa «Bosque del Líbano» de oro puro, pues en sus tiempos la plata no se estimaba en nada,
22 since the king had a fleet of Tarshish at sea with Hiram's fleet, and once every three years the fleet ofTarshish would come back laden with gold and silver, ivory, apes and baboons.	22 porque tenía el rey una flota de Tarsis en el mar, junto con la de Jirán, y cada tres años llegaba la flota de Tarsis portando oro, plata, marfil, monos y pavos reales.
23 For riches and for wisdom, King Solomon surpassed al kings on earth,	23 El rey Salomón superó a todos los reyes de la tierra en riqueza y conocimiento.
24 and the whole world consulted Solomon to hear the wisdom which God had implanted in his heart;	24 Todo el mundo quería verle en persona para escuchar la sabiduría con la que Dios había dotado su mente.
25 and everyone would bring a present with him: things made of silver, things made of gold, robes,armour, spices, horses and mules; and this went on year after year.	25 Y cada cual aportaba su obsequio, año tras año: utensilios de plata y oro, vestiduras, perfumes e inciensos, caballos y mulos.
26 Solomon then built up a force of chariots and cavalry; he had one thousand four hundred chariots andtwelve thousand horses, these he stationed in the chariot towns and near the king in Jerusalem.	26 Reunió Salomón carruajes y caballería. Poseía mil cuatrocientos carros y doce mil caballos acuartelados en las ciudades para carros y en Jerusalén en torno al rey.
27 In Jerusalem the king made silver as common as stones, and cedar wood as plentiful as sycamore inthe lowlands.	27 El rey logró que en Jerusalén la plata abundara como las piedras, y los cedros como los sicomoros de la Tierra Baja.
28 Solomon's horses were imported from Muzur and Cilicia. The king's dealers acquired them fromCilicia at the prevailing price.	28 Los caballos de Salomón procedían de Musur y Cilicia. Sus mercaderes los compraban en Cilicia a precio fijo.
29 A chariot was imported from Egypt for six hundred silver shekels and a horse from Cilicia for ahundred and fifty. They also supplied the Hittite and Aramaean kings, who al used them as middlemen.	29 Un carro importado de Egipto valía seiscientos siclos de plata, y un caballo, ciento cincuenta. Ambos se exportaban luego a todos los reyes de los hititas y a los reyes de Siria.
