Amos 1

1 The words of Amos, a shepherd from Tekoa, which he received in vision concerning Israel, in the days of Uzziah, king of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam, son of Joash, king of Israel, two years before the earthquake:	1 Parole di Amos, che era pecoraio di Tekòa, il quale ebbe visioni riguardo a Israele, al tempo di Ozia re della Giudea, e al tempo di Geroboàmo figlio di Ioas, re di Israele, due anni prima del terremoto.
2 The LORD will roar from Zion, and from Jerusalem raise his voice: The pastures of the shepherds will languish, and the summit of Carmel wither.	2 Egli disse: "Il Signore ruggisce da Sion e da Gerusalemme fa udir la sua voce; sono desolate le steppe dei pastori, è inaridita la cima del Carmelo".
3 Thus says the LORD: For three crimes of Damascus, and for four, I will not revoke my word; Because they threshed Gilead with sledges of iron,	3 Così dice il Signore: "Per tre misfatti di Damasco e per quattro non revocherò il mio decreto, perché hanno trebbiato con trebbie ferrate Gàlaad.
4 I will send fire upon the house of Hazael, to devour the castles of Ben-hadad.	4 Alla casa di Cazaèl darò fuoco e divorerà i palazzi di Ben-Hadàd;
5 I will break the bar of Damascus; I will root out those who live in the Valley of Aven, And the sceptered ruler of Beth-eden; the people of Aram shall be exiled to Kir, says the LORD.	5 spezzerò il catenaccio di Damasco, sterminerò gli abitanti di Biqat-Avèn e chi detiene lo scettro di Bet-Eden e il popolo di Aram andrà schiavo a Kir", dice il Signore.
6 Thus says the LORD: For three crimes of Gaza, and for four, I will not revoke my word; Because they took captive whole groups to hand over to Edom,	6 Così dice il Signore: "Per tre misfatti di Gaza e per quattro non revocherò il mio decreto, perché hanno deportato popolazioni intere per consegnarle a Edom;
7 I will send fire upon the wall of Gaza, to devour her castles;	7 appiccherò il fuoco alle mura di Gaza e divorerà i suoi palazzi,
8 I will root out those who live in Ashdod, and the sceptered ruler of Ashkelon; I will turn my hand against Ekron, and the last of the Philistines shall perish, says the Lord God.	8 estirperò da Asdòd chi siede sul trono e da Ascalòna chi vi tiene lo scettro; rivolgerò la mano contro Ekròn e così perirà il resto dei Filistei", dice il Signore.
9 Thus says the LORD: For three crimes of Tyre, and for four I will not revoke my word; Because they delivered whole groups captive to Edom, and did not remember the pact of brotherhood,	9 Così dice il Signore: "Per tre misfatti di Tiro e per quattro non revocherò il mio decreto, perché hanno deportato popolazioni intere a Edom, senza ricordare l'alleanza fraterna;
10 I will send fire upon the wall of Tyre,to devour her castles.	10 appiccherò il fuoco alle mura di Tiro e divorerà i suoi palazzi".
11 Thus says the LORD: For three crimes of Edom, and for four, I will not revoke my word; Because he pursued his brother with the sword, choking up all pity; Because he persisted in his anger and kept his wrath to the end,	11 Così dice il Signore: "Per tre misfatti di Edome per quattro non revocherò il mio decreto, perché ha inseguito con la spada suo fratello e ha soffocato la pietà verso di lui, perché ha continuato l'ira senza fine e ha conservato lo sdegno per sempre;
12 I will send fire upon Teman, and it will devour the castles of Bozrah.	12 appiccherò il fuoco a Teman e divorerà i palazzi di Bozra".
13 Thus says the LORD: For three crimes of the Ammonites, and for four, I will not revoke my word; Because they ripped open expectant mothers in Gilead, while extending their territory,	13 Così dice il Signore: "Per tre misfatti degli Ammoniti e per quattro non revocherò il mio decreto, perché hanno sventrato le donne incinte di Gàlaad per allargare il loro confine;
14 I will kindle a fire upon the wall of Rabbah, and it will devour her castles Amid clamor on the day of battle and stormwind in a time of tempest.	14 appiccherò il fuoco alle mura di Rabbà e divorerà i suoi palazzi tra il fragore di un giorno di battaglia, fra il turbine di un giorno di tempesta;
15 Their king shall go into captivity, he and his princes with him, says the LORD.	15 il loro re andrà in esilio, egli insieme ai suoi capi", dice il Signore.
